  1. This right here. Our elementary did the same and agree that it was a good way to say goodbye. No "graduation" BS and after the ceremony, the kids walked around and say goodbye to all their teachers from K on up. Never realized there was such a thing as middle school graduation.....certainly didn't have it back in the 80's and my oldest who is an 8th grader this year isn't having one either. Skipper's response is spot on.
  2. 100% of what is wrong with America today.............. /end semi-old guy rant/
  3. I just assumed the Pixies had been around pre 1986 but just looked it up and they formed in 1986. So, that is an egregrious exemption from my list.
  4. I like this list. Nirvana is obvious. I'd put the Foo on here as well. Unlike many others, I like PJ the least of the what I consider the holy trinity of the Seattle grunge movement (Nirvana, Soundgarden (who formed in '84, so can't be included), and PJ). PJ first two albums were great, but I didn't care much for Vitalogy (Better Man is one of the worst songs of all time in my opinion) and I haven't cared much for the stuff since then outside of a song here or there. Plus, I liked Cornell's voice better than Vedder's. Couldn't come up with a band over the last 10 years.......
  5. Ya gotta see the bay-bee.....
  6. Spot on UT Lawnghorn......that is what I meant
  7. Kramer goes to a fantasy camp. His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down two-thousand dollars to live like him for a week. Do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors, and have sex without dating. *That's* a fantasy camp!
  8. tOSU was on ABC primetime during the regular season one time: Week 2 vs OU Their 3 highest rated games against Michigan, Pedo State, and Wisconsin in Big14 championship were all on Fox http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/#2017wk4
  9. Kenny? KENNY!!!
  10. Rep for the Dirty Laundry reference........Don Henley's song was way ahead of its time in predicting the era we now live in.........
  11. Agree on Apocalypse now.....didn't get the movie at all until I read Heart of Darkness in HS and was like whoa.....it was the same thing. I don't think there will ever be a definitive movie that can capture the Vietnam experience. Someone is going to have to put together a Band of Brothers-esque mini series that might capture the complex nature of the conflict. Is there a definitive WWII movie?
  12. Kramer: What's today? Newman: It's Thursday. Kramer: Really? Feels like Tuesday. Newman: Tuesday has no feel. Monday has a feel, Friday has a feel, Sunday has a feel.... Kramer: I feel Tuesday and Wednesday... Jerry: All right, shut up the both of you! You're making me nervous.
  13. If by the Mouse you mean ESPN, that could be the case. However, SEC games (and by contract, the home team dictates the television package) are never shown in primetime on ABC (which is what was announced). CBS gets the first pick under the contract for the game of the week in most cases followed by ESPN for their primetime slot (although the 2 networks do work hand in hand at times when announcing matchups). Nobody else in the SEC has a matchup worth a damn that week.....in fact the next best game in the SEC that week might be Miss St at K State, which would fall under the Big 12 contract. I'd be shocked if it wasn't on CBS. As mentioned above, CBS first SEC on CBS game last year was TCU at Arkansas.
  14. Rep for Saga and Zebra......I still love On the Loose to this day......
  15. Not sure I would be touting this list, including what some have considered the greatest bust of all time. UT has had only 3 QB's drafted in that same period and somehow I bet the aggregate career stats of VY, Colt and Chris Simms is better than this group.
  16. Pretty sure that Fox will pick it up to go head to head with OSU-TCU. The games that have been announced so far are "preference" picks by the two networks, which both carry Big 10/Big 12/Pac 10 games. FOX also had the TX/USC game last year. There really aren't many other games that could fit in that slot - LSU/Auburn will either be on CBS or ESPN...same options for Alabama/Ole Miss. I think ABC wanted to get OSU on more than anything else....it will have more cracks at Texas later in the year in primetime is my guess.
  17. CBS would have rights to this game since A&M is at home.
  18. Unfortunately the immutable laws of physics contradict the whole premise of your account. Allow me to reconstruct this if I may for Miss Benes as I've heard this story a number of times. Newman, Kramer, if you'll indulge me. According to your story Keith passes you and starts walking up the ramp then you say you were struck on the right temple. The spit then proceeds to ricochet off the temple striking Newman between the third and forth rib. The spit then came off the rib, turned, and hit Newman in the right wrist causing him to drop his baseball cap. The spit then splashed off the wrist, pauses in mid air mind you- makes a left turn and lands on Newman's left thigh. That is one magic loogie!
  19. Somehow we managed to con our kids when they were younger that Chuck E Cheese was only a place for birthdays and therefore, they could only go on their birthday or if one of their friends invited them to their birthday party.....worked like a charm. When they finally realized what we had done, they were too old to want to go to Chuck E Cheese. I do however remember Showbiz Pizza on Burnet Road back in the 80's was the tits though......
  20. In college, I pretty much checked off all of the old SWC stadia except Jones and Razorback. So for those counting at home, that would be Kyle, old Baylor Stadium, Rice Stadium, the Dome (when UH played there), Amon Carter, and the Cotton Bowl (when SMU came off of death penalty). Cotton Bowl also counts for the Cotton Bowl and TX/OU. Since then, I have also visited the following: Robertson stadium (for the infamous "Bleachergate" game) Bowers Stadium (SHSU) Rutgers Stadium Rice-Eccles (before the Olympics renovation) Sun Devil Stadium The Superdome (to see both the Sugar Bowl and Tulane)
  21. I'm out there Jerry and I'm loving every minute of it..........
  22. Not a Native Texan, but as they say got here as soon as he could. Seen him several times at the Mucky Duck.......
