  1. I agree with the order of this today, but think KSU will likely finish better than both Baylor and ISU, especially since both of those games are in Manhattan. Watched a fair amount of the BU/ISU game and came away impressed with neither. First half looked like the schools had gotten in the wayback machine and blasted back to 2007, when neither were any good. Second half offensive "explosion", especially for ISU, can probably be attributed more to fatigue from the heat than good football. Baylor is mediocre and wouldn't be surprised if KSU punishes them pretty hard this week. Don't see Baylor beating Texas, OU, OSU, TCU either which would give them the exact same conference record as last year. For ISU, Purdy has regressed somewhat (that awful interception in the first half was "mind-bottling"), especially without Montgomery and Butler, and I think their defense will get worn out in matchups against the better offensive teams since their offense appears to have taken a step back. If I had to call order of finish at the end of the year: OU Texas OSU TCU KSU Baylor ISU West Va Tech Kansas TX/OU for championship and perhaps the top 5 on the list ranked at the end of the season.
  2. Constant insults at sorority girls that would order cheeseburgers with diet cokes..... damn good burgers though
  3. Argued with some friends over the summer that this game was way more important than LSU in the grand scheme of things since this is exactly the type of team we need to get over on to be consistently at the top of the conference. When Mack was winning things (1998-2009) OSU had exactly zero wins against us during that time. Since then, we've only won twice. Much like TCU game last year, this to me serves as a major barometer to the season. Win and we should feel confident that we control our destiny to the Big XII title game irrespective of what happens in Dallas in 3 weeks. Lose and there is no room for error getting back to the championship game. And I think we would all agree that not getting back to the championship game would serve as a major disappointment this season. This is the only team that Herman has yet to beat in the Big XII....team needs to make it happen Saturday.
  4. insanity noun in·san·i·ty | \ in-ˈsa-nə-tē Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
  5. Going to keep an eye on this kid as my daughter is likely going to Summer Creek next year. Kenny Harrison (HC at Summer Creek) is a Texas grad (played for Mack I think). Summer Creek may start turning out a few more D1 caliber players in the upcoming years (most notable one to date was Dakota Allen from Tech).
  6. That is some Skip Bayless level trolling there.....no way he says that if Dabo were at Bammer.....or any other SEC school.
  7. Nice humblebrag.....can't say I'd be much different vis a vis this team.
  8. Easy to see why they'd pick the Sooners...........OU's schedule is Charmin soft. No real challenge out of conference (lulz at FPI thinking UCLA is the game they have the best chance at losing...UH could give them a tougher game in the opener) and no real conference road challenges either (OSU, Baylor, and the Kansas schools). Before you say OSU is a challenge, consider that Gundy is 2-12 vs OU all time and usually doesn't win this game if OU is the better team and/or there is something at stake. OU needs only to win in the championship game (even if they lose in the Cotton Bowl I.e. last years scenario and not lose another game) to get back to the CFP (or hell, even go in undefeated in the regular season and lose to TX in the Big 12 champ game). Their team may not be as good as last years, but their road to the CFP is much easier than ours.
  9. This is correct. The only reason it is even being considered is because most of the writers are slow on the uptake and still think Jimbo can turn Mond into a Jameis Winston like substance that could beat Clemson and Alabama (and Georgia and LSU) because he already coached a Jameis and has a ring.
  10. Hinton's also an SEC guy so he's kind of feeding the narrative in advance of the LSU game. Also, the systems built to look under the hood (or in the rear view mirror as sushihorn eloquently put it) serve more gambling purposes than true predictive outcome purposes. Connelly has even admitted that.
  11. I am in this camp.....thought the episode last night was uneven and wouldn't have thought to give the series a second chance were it not for the fact that McBride and his writing team delivered on Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals. Suspect it will get better but "dramedies" as this one appears to be shaping up as are a hard line to walk.
  12. He's getting the bump from playing in Bama's scheme with Bama's talent (since this is on PY results) and also the belief that Riley is a QB whisperer. He's properly behind Sam in the PFF eval and Brewer is only one behind him so you could easily swap the two and argue he is the 4th best going into the seaon. I could see that by the end of the season, there may be several others better as well. Interested to see Purdy's development in the absence of Montgomery, Butler, and teams having a full offseason to prepare for him(even though he is currently ranked higher than Hurts). Also curious to see how Bowman looks in a completely different scheme. You know the winner of the Sanders/Brown derby at OSU will score well in the PFF metrics by the end of the year. Good argument to be made that when the dust settles, he might only be 6th or 7th.
  13. Saw part of the second half of 1990 UH game last night (was there as a student, but was not the idiot on the goalpost or rushing the field). Remembering back to that time, I remember UH were a big bunch of chuckleheads and talking all kinds of shit before that game. Enjoyed seeing David Klingler getting his butt kicked all over the field. F him and F John Jenkins
  14. Agree with all of this. DKR's omission is tough but who do you take off. I'd argue that Dr Tom maybe should come off this list because I don't recall any "innovations" from Dr Tom (and for his bitchassedness towards the end of his tenure, especially towards Texas). The wishbone was a revolutionary offense for its time and DKR deserves far more credit for that. But you could have 5 or 6 other candidates that could replace Dr. Tom just as easily. The Oregon stuff reads like Nike is a huge sponsor or something. Their helmet design isn't that great and pretty much everyone else on that list (except perhaps the paperclips) should be ahead of Oregon (because this is 150 years of history, not 20). Also the Duck mascot thing is a joke. The article even says its a cheap knockoff of Donald Duck. That should drop it out of the Top 25 or Top 50 altogether.
  15. I am surprised that someone hasn't issued a fatwa on that smarmy Trevor kid who apparently always hangs around so he can get free Chili's meals from his friend's parents.....
  16. When did we start practicing at 2 AM? New technique to beat the 100 degree heat?
  17. Yeah...Connelly sort of forgot to add that caption to the chart.
  18. I personally believe this is the most likely outcome, for at least football and maybe basketball. When that does happen, I can see geographical football realignment into regional "divisions" whereby the champions of those divisions make the playoff and everyone else that qualifies can go to a postseason bowl game. The conferences as currently aligned will still be there for all of the other sports plus whatever academic alliances exist within the current conference arrangements (like the CIC for the Big 10)
  19. Yep - Jack Allison started. Think some other guys skipped as well. Sills didn't, but I do remember there was a handful of NFL draft hopefuls that skipped.
  20. I think the conference was better last year than what it will be this year, primarily because the QB talent was better last year (league lost 2 NFL draft picks and OU/WVa have downgrades at the position-OSU may be the only place where you can see an upgrade) and there are several rebuild jobs underway this year. Texas and OU will clearly be the top 2 teams barring significant injuries. However, I don't see nearly the depth. WVa was a Top 15 caliber team last year (despite their wretched bowl showing) and ISU was a bordeline Top 25 team. I don't see that depth in the remaining teams that could get there. ISU - Probably my pick to be 3rd because of their defense, but no David Montgomery and no Hakeem Butler. How does Brock Purdy respond without those weapons and an offseason for opponents to gameplan. Won't surprise, but could disappoint. TCU - Do they even have a QB. What we saw of Michael Collins was not that impressive and Justin Rogers hasn't played a meaningful football game in 2 years due to injury. Not sold on the QB development capabilities of the TCU staff either after Shawn Robinson crashed and burned. Defense will continue to be their calling card, Jalen Reagor is someone we all wanted to be in burnt orange and the backfield is solid (though Sewo Olonilua's status for the season remains unclear due to a felony drug possession). But without a dynamic QB, the offense will be easier to defend and we could see a lot of Cheez-It Bowl type games for the Frogs this year. Don't think the over on 7 wins will be as much of a lock as PS indicates. OSU - This is the team that could break through. OSU comes in without a proven starter as well, but I trust Gundy's staff's development capabilities on QB far more than TCU's. OSU returns Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace which makes them the most likely candidate to have a lethal offense apart from the Top 2. Defense....well, that probably remains a question. The game in September in Austin will be pretty big and could launch OSU into the discussion in the conference if they win. I like OSU better than TCU quite frankly in terms of teams that can challenge the Top 2. Baylor - Meh. Did you know Charlie Brewer is the son and grandson of Longhorn legends? I'm sure that will be mentioned multiple times on any future UT/BU football broadcasts, but beyond Brewer, not really sure what Baylor brings to the table and the predictions by some (FCB) of Baylor getting to the championship game are pretty far fetched. Who replaces both Jalen Hurd and Denzel Mims at the wide receiver position. Ebner and Hasty are solid at the RB position, but don't like the line and the defense is at best average. Baylor gets to 7 wins off of their easy non-conference schedule, but I don't see much beyond that and they'll have to sweat out Matt Rhule entertaining coaching gigs elsewhere in the offseason. Tech, WVa, Kansas Teams - All with new coaches and all with rebuild jobs. Not worth discussing in terms of conference strength....in fact the bottom of the conference could be as bad as it has been in some time depending on the rebuilds. Should be fun
  21. Cool pics. Manele is a beautiful course and love that as you are going around, you can see both West Maui and Kahoolawe. That hotel is an underrated (albeit expensive) gem that is worth making the effort to get to.
