  1. I guess the group who won that fight must have been head and shoulders above the rest.
  2. This right here is the best thing about AP classes and the main reason I would recommend taking as many as possible for anyone out there with kids entering high school. I was able to test out of both college English requirements, a math class, and a few others before even stepping foot on campus and was able to graduate a semester early. Being able to pay for one less semester of college and get out into the workforce and start making money sooner was a huge advantage.
  3. I guess that makes sense, I would imagine that they would still have to make that information available for college application purposes.
  4. Yeah, when applying to UT they are going to expect you to have AP classes AND have the other extracurriculars too, not just one or the other. I played high school sports for my first 3 years and then did co-op and had 2 jobs my senior year of high school and I still took every AP class if it was an option except for one class the 2nd semester of my senior year when it doesn't really matter. Maybe your kiddos just aren't really that bright. (I kid, I kid). What you said about the class rankings is puzzling though, wouldn't that screw those kids when it comes to the 10% rule and applying to colleges?
  5. This is true, there is really only the documentation and time issue if you lost time or money as a result of it. The $125 is just the standard that you are entitled to no matter what, it literally took me about 30 seconds to fill out the information.

    King's X

I met Dug Pinnick a few years back and have his cell and still keep up from time to time. My freshman year at UT, during SXSW 2010 I went to Texas Rockfest and he was playing with one of his side projects at the time, Razr 13. At the time, I was standing against the wall by myself watching one of the earlier bands, as was he, and he came up and introduced himself to me and we ended up hanging out all night until Snoop Dogg's (he was playing Emo's right across the street) tour manager or assistant or something like that, came to Key Bar after getting some bud for Snoop and drove me back to my dorm before taking Dug back to his hotel. Dug was a super cool guy. I knew he is a big stoner and at one point he asks me, "you smoke pot?". I tell him yes and he proceeds to pull out an Altoids tin filled to the brim with THC pills. I take a few of those and later smoked a blunt with him and his band behind Danko Jones' tour bus. George Lynch, who is my favorite guitarist of all time was playing that show with his side band, Souls of We. He walked by and I told Dug that he was my favorite guitarist and Dug says, "I've always wanted to meet George and jam with him sometime, let's go introduce ourselves". So me and Dug go hang out and talk to George for a while, George and Dug exchange numbers and that was the start of their new side project with Ray Luzier the drummer for Korn, KXM. We still keep in touch every now and then, in fact, he actually just sent me a pic on Snapchat earlier today. Hes told me he could get me backstage before, hoping he could work some magic when he comes back with the Experience Hendrix tour in SA in a few months /csb Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  7. I saw an article about this earlier and was confused because we have had growler exchange places here in SA. I guess it was just a city by city deal and this is just making it a full state-wide deal now Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  8. Jesus, that was awful, he's not looking good at all Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  9. Those would be great as well. I love Def Leppard but unfortunately Joe Elliot's voice is pretty shot at this point. Van Halen would be fuckin fantastic, I'd rather see them than GNR to be honest but in my experience, as someone who was born in 91 after the heyday of all of these bands, people of my generation gravitate more to GNR and Metallica than any of those others. But as someone of my generation who loves 80s hard rock and heavy metal and has never been to ACL because most of the acts typically aren't my usual cup of tea, I love seeing them add bands like Metallica and GNR. I really wanna see Tyler Childers and Gary Clark Jr as well, this may have to be the 1st year I finally get my ass out there.
  10. Shame!! Haha nah I know they are probably not for everybody but if they are looking for another 80s hard rock/heavy metal band for one of those headliner spots (which I am a huge fan of them doing considering the type of music I love), I don't see any band bigger than GNR or Metallica that they can possibly choose? Black Sabbath isn't together anymore. Motley Crue? Poison? Whitesnake? Judas Priest? I'd love those, hell I'd love to see LA Guns headline but no one from that era is going to pull more than Metallica and Guns N Roses.
  11. Lol wut? Yeah, they don't have as much of a cross generational fan base as Metallica, sure, but they do have a cross generational fan base. My ex-gf didn't listen to any music at all from that genre but loved going to see GNR and there are a lot of younger people from my generation like that. And their music is just filler for athletic events? Have you heard anything past the first 3 singles from Appetite for Destruction? I'm a die-hard GNR fan so I may be a little biased here, if that's not your thing, that's cool. But what other metal/hard rock band from that era could they have brought who would have been more appealing? I literally can't think of a single metal/hard rock band from that era that has more cross generational appeal than Metallica.
  12. Great choice on the Brother vs Omar scene. The Wire is my favorite show of all time and that is my favorite scene from it, I can still recite every line from that scene. I also love the scene in Breaking Bad where Walt is under the house and he starts maniacally laughing as the camera slowly rises up Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  13. If youre interested in that kind of thing, read the book Public Enemies by Bryan Burroughs. The Johnny Depp movie adaptation (which I'm not a huge fan of) mainly focused on Dillinger but the book takes more of a whole view on the crime wave at the time, also looking at Baby Face Nelson, Machine Gun Kelley, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bonnie and Clyde, and the Barker-Karpis gang as well as the rise of the FBI under J Edgar Hoover's leadership during that time. It's one of my favorite books and it talks about why America was so behind a lot of these guys for a while. But long story short, like the poster above me mentioned, it was a product of its time, being the Great Depression. Everyone felt like they were being held down by the man and thus they enjoyed and rallied around these people who were seemingly "sticking it to the man" Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  14. Definitely a good choice here, I've read this one and it's a great read.
  15. Idk exactly how that works but I'm an accountant with a client who didn't even make it past his 1st year in the league and he gets a massive pension so I'm sure Garrett Gilbert has got that locked down now. He's probably made some decent enough money through the league Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  16. That was season 1 of the Surreal Life on VH1, I used to watch all the Celebreality stuff on VH1 back then. In the same vein, CC Deville was also on the 6th and final season of that show.
  17. It wasn't that sanitized. Hell the movie (just like the book) opens with the damn squirter scene. They also had the pool scene with Ozzy, Nikki's heroin issues etc.. They had an hour and a half to cover about 15 years of their career, they can't have every "Dirt"-y thing they ever did in the movie, I don't really get the whole sanitized talk. That being said, I probably would have been one of the few ones to enjoy this, but being the fan I am, I wish they could have made it a 3 part mini-series or something. It felt like they just had to rush through their whole career to quickly to fit everything in.
  18. Seriously, that's fuckin stupid as hell. It also clearly says "Austin, Texas" on it so not like anyone is confusing that DBU as Dallas Baptist University
  19. I may be biased (die-hard fan of Motley Crue and that whole Sunset Strip Era, Faster Pussycat, LA Guns, Dokken, etc. etc.) but I loveddd this movie, totally lived up to my expectations of what I was looking for. I can understand for a casual observer how the movie was good not great, but for a 27 year old who is a die-hard fan of that genre who didn't actually get to live through it, it was cool to see a movie adaptation of that story, I really enjoyed it.
  20. I'd say 2 dead teenagers is very significant
  21. Just came here to post the same thing. I'm currently in the process of rewatching GOT right now, I'm half way through season 3 so I'm right in the midst of this dude's evilness. Can't think of a more punchable face
  22. Yeah that was an awesome watch, thanks for sharing. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  23. Man, I'm loving this album. I've been familiar with Gary Clark Jr for a while but had never really listened to him. A couple months ago I listened to a few songs of his to check it out and I liked what I heard but just never made it through the Gary Clark Jr wormhole. After hearing This Land the other day, I listened to all 3 of his albums at work and damn.....the dude's good, I don't know why I waited so long to get into his stuff. I'm really loving his second album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, "The Healing" is a killer track.
  24. Where are these masses of people? I park in the garage that lines up next to what used to be the old Bevo Boulevard and there's small groups of people in the corner that are tailgating out of the way but never seen it as an issue. The people tailgating in the garage are in the corner out of the way but there's always going to be large amounts of people walking through the garage, walking all the way to one of the only 2 staircases there. I understand the sentiment and ain't really complaining but I don't think that rule is going to do anything to get people out of the way of vehicles in that tight ass garage. I usually go all the way to the top level or two where no one else is and park facing the stadium and have a few beers with whoever I have brought to the game with me that week. Can't have someone coming up to patrol for compliance of this new rule while we're trying to smoke a bowl in my truck 🤣
  25. 🤣🤣 Fuck that smug arrogant piece of shit. How stupid can you be? The dude is a billionaire, he can hire the best escorts money can buy and he's trolling for rub and tugs at a strip mall Asian massage parlor in Jupiter, Fl
