Some other schools are using a 48-hour mandatory filing rule to detain some of their players from entering the portal on a more timely basis.
In other words, schools are hoping the House Settlement passes before being forced to enter a player’s name in the transfer portal. It’s an effort to retain the player by potentially deflating a player’s value, allowing their own school to be financially competitive for the player and/or a combination of both factors.
The move is unlikely to work. More key players, ones Texas may target, are expected to officially enter the portal in the next 24 hours.
Until the House Settlement passes there are no FMV guardrails on NIL. Other schools desperately want those guardrails when competing with Texas, Ohio State, etc.”
