Can we talk about The Yardbirds?
Very rapidly, it seems.

Pink Floyd
I think Guy has played more Pink Floyd on bass than Roger at this point.

Which musician would've put out the best music if they hadn't passed?
Yep, sames.

Eh. Breed was a decent song. The only thing that would have made In Utero decent was leaving the Albini mix

Cobain was done done before In Utero even came out. I'm not sure I've ever been more disappointed in a release than that album.

It's not Trump
The weirdest thing about this argument you guys are having is it's predicated on the assumption that Twitter is relevant to, well, anything, anymore.

Which musician would've put out the best music if they hadn't passed?
I totally agree with this. Whether it would be anything worthwhile is where my doubts lie.

I feel like there's two different conversations going on here.

This is 100% a thing. Both Steve Bannon and Elizabeth Warren's entire careers are predicated on deep psychoses from a perception their fathers were hard done by.

I've definitely come to be of the opinion Syd was going that way regardless. The acid didn't help matters but he was not built for spotlight

Buckley is definitely one I could get behind.

Yeah Mike Watt is one of the best guys ever. Born in same town as me as well, Portsmouth Va.

Which musician would've put out the best music if they hadn't passed?
So upon reflection, three that I would like to have seen where they went musically. 1. Brian Jones. He had more unique sounds in his head than anyone else I've ever heard of. 2. D Boon. The Minutemen were one of the most talented bands in history. They would have stretched way beyond punk rock with a Dylanesque impact I think. 3. Robert Johnson. Mostly to see if he was as legit as his legend. Man, we are on the same plane. I was furiously debating Parsons a minute ago.

I mean, I love Hendrix, not like I'm arguing that. But I think most of these people listed had already done what they were gonna do.

I honestly think Hendrix had burned out. Not to say he wouldn't have put out some good music, but by all accounts he was getting pretty spent creatively. I don't think we would have gotten anything earth shattering from him.

Tbh Buddy Holly is probably my pick too. Otis Redding for sure would be a good one though. The rest, eh, I think they had said what they were gonna say. Except maybe Mozart.

Man, I've been saying this for years. Related, I feel like it dawned on me not so long ago I was cheering for the wrong people in Revenge of the Nerds. - These Go to 11 - The Guitar Amp Thread
