The thing about Keith Moon is you have to look at him and Entwistle as a unit. Its a very different thing than Led Zeppelin. I love JPJ, he is an intensely talented guy in some respects, but he is more of an arranger than a unique player. Bonzo definitely had a lot of similarities with Moon with his ability to go nuts, but JPJ was nothing like Entwistle in that regard. The combination of Moon and Entwistle is like nothing else, their ability to just go fucking ham and somehow it was always exactly what was needed is otherworldly. The Zeppelin rhythm section could not do that.
I think the two if us that put a Pink Floyd song used Pigs. Comfortably Numb definitely has a shout through. I wouldn't rate Another Brick that high. Time, Push You Were Here, Shine, etc.. would all be over that.
I have to say, Sebs redemption arc has been something I never would have guessed. I couldn't stand him with RB, but he has turned into a genuinely likeable dude.
The Rockman was on not just random bands, but like every generic guitar riff in a commercial in the 80s, all of us of a certain vintage will instantly be able to pick it out once you know what to listen for. It was used by every hack that couldn't get a real amp and studio basically.
Just add it to the pile of things I hate about Tom Scholz. Though not particularly high on the list.
I mean there was probably plenty of that too. It was a pretty protracted process though. I'm not a huge FF fan, so I'm not totally up on all the ins and outs.
It took a year to record. All I remember was he went to each city to interview people and spring off that to write each song back at home. Then they went back to each city to record.
It's got Congregation on it, which is a top 5 Foo song I'd say. Add in St Cecilia, Learn to Fly, Times Like These and Long Road to Ruin and that is the best of the FF in terms of songwriting.
Monkey Wrench is a decent tune. This is a Call is same boat as Everlong for me. The songs just don't go anywhere. They really didn't hit their come around until Nothing Left To Lose for me, and really got to be mature with Sonic Highways.
I love Wild Horses, we played it at the first concert my first band ever did. But Gimme Shelter and Sympathy for the Devil are basically my favorite song of all time A and B.
Honestly if we are doing a top ten favorite rock song list I would just put like 9 Rolling Stones songs and 1 from Motorhead.
