  1. This was all bait so his stupid fucking parents could meet Hannity or whoever. And the school played right along. God this country sucks.
  2. Just popped in to say, if you're being serious here, you have a fucking baby's understanding of the world. Jesus Christ.......
  3. Is this a joke or do you not understand the point of this comic at all??? Jesus Christ....
  4. Someone is definitely being thin skinned here, but I'll go with the opposing fan posting on 2 threads before the sun comes up because Texas fans on a Texas message board were mean to the AD at the school he is a fan of.
  5. Shit like this only strengthens my belief that public school should be compulsory and private, charter, home school, etc. should be outlawed.
  6. I bet I've watched it 50 times since Saturday. Just a really cool play!
  7. Why did Dog the fucking bounty hunter have to get involved? I guess I'm rooting for Laundrie now.
  8. Yep, born and raised. Everyone seems to know someone from Hollis!
  9. From my hometown and the hometown of Coach Royal. TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Ignoring the stupid fucking distraction that is this commercial, the book Legacy of Ashes by Tim Weiner is a great and thorough read on the full history of the CIA through the war on terror based on primary sources and interviews. Also the Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins is an easier read that give good insight to just how evil the CIA is and has been throughout its history. If someone can read either and think that the CIA provides any kind of service or value for good, then I'd rather not meet that person.
  11. It wasn’t my intention to do a both sides and I completely agree that the dems are miles ahead of the Republicans. I’m a leftist independent and shouldn’t have tried to jump into the middle of a long discussion. While my beliefs are different than most here, I do really enjoy lurking here. I learn a lot. I sincerely appreciate the explanation and will go back to lurking now.
  12. I'm really not trying to be argumentative, but I have no idea what was funny about my post.
  13. I certainly don't disagree with anything you guys say about the Republican Party. Personally I take issue with the idea that the Democratic Party has the best interest of the majority of Americans as part of their decision making, but understand the argument. I just find myself frustrated with all of the "inside baseball" talk and the smugness of folks telling us that we just don't understand the way things work. It often makes me think of this quote from No Country For Old Men, "If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?"
  14. It seems to me that the disconnect is between posters that are worried about what is best for citizens of this country and posters that are worried about what is best for the Democratic Party. As someone who is not a member of any political party, I'd like to see a lot more concern for our fellow citizens and no concern whatsoever given to what is best for any particular political party. From my perspective, this is the problem.
  15. Sorry, it's the LA Quartet and Underworld USA Trilogy.
  16. As great as the movie is, the book is better. His whole underworld quartet is phenomenal(LA Confidential is the 3rd book in this series), and his Underworld USA trilogy is a fucking masterpiece. If you like this movie and enjoy reading, I can't recommend James Ellroy's books enough.
  17. Universal plans have universal buy in. If all Americans are on the same single payer plan, then it is much less likely to face cuts or elimination in the future. When you separate health care into two classes, there will always be demonization of the folks on "government" health care. It's the same reason that Bernie's free college and student loan forgiveness plans are preferable to means tested plans. We have to get away from segmenting Americans on essentials like healthcare and education. We provide them all to everyone. It benefits all Americans and it benefits our country.
  18. I have fantastic insurance through my employer. The premium for myself and my family(wife and 3 kids) is paid 100% by my employer and the amount of my families deductible is put into an HSA for me at the beginning of every year. I literally have no out of pocket costs for medical expenses. BUT.... I support Medicare for All, and it's not something I'm willing to compromise on at all. Not because it will benefit me personally. In fact, it will most likely cost me and my family much more money. The reason I support MFA is because I know that 99% of Americans don't have anywhere near the coverage I have. Medicare for all will provide health insurance to all Americans. This is a moral issue for me. Our current system is immoral. It would be immoral for me to oppose something that would be life changing for millions of Americans because it might cost me a little more money.
  19. I'm going to assume that the fact that Chait's spouse, Robin Chait, is an analyst and pro-charter school advocate at WestEd wasn't disclosed in this article. Fuck Chait and fuck charter schools.
  20. There are plenty of things Bernie could do or say that would make me feel negatively about him. I just struggle to think of anything that could be in anyone's tax returns that I would give a shit about. I honestly wish there were more, younger leftist, socialist, whatever you want to term it options because I'm not a liberal and would like more options on the left, but right now, he's the best option. It seems like we're starting to see more like minded people in government after 2018, but there's no one else close as far as presidential elections go, so for now I'm going with the only option available to someone like me.
  21. Thank you! No, she lives in Oklahoma(I know...), but we were so happy with the care that my dad received at MD Anderson, that there was no other place my sister and brother in law considered for her. Honestly, I've been so amazed by her through this whole process. She's been so brave and positive. She's moving right along with her plans for college in the fall and not even considering the possibility that it's going to beat her. It's amazing how going through these things can bring so much inspiration with the pain.
  22. Lucero at Dada May 17(Playing their entire self titled album) and May 18(Playing the entire Tennessee album).
