Game Week 14, 2024- Texas v Georgia SEC Championship Game

Nice find. Let's fuck these motherfuckers up in front of their home crowd. How sweet the silence will be. -

GD PTSD surfacing. I remember a critical game against CU back in the Big 12 days, coulda been for the championship, when our O came out and crammed the ball down CUs throat by running it. We scored two TDs before they knew what hit 'em - focusing on the run. We are at the CU forty or thirty, headed for our third TD, when GD calls for a sideways pass from Chris Simms. It's intercepted and returned to like the five yard line, CU gets its TD. So, even though we're still up a TD, their score pushes GD into catch up mode, and practically every drive after that was pass oriented, and they ended up beating our ass. Sark needs to figure out early what's working and build on that. That's gotta be his plan, anyway. This season has shown that he's capable of keeping us in the lead as long as his game plan isn't littered with turnovers. -

Nothing would make me happier than for Quinn to come out and have a fantastic night throwing the ball. His ankle / brace is solid and the Horns chew up GA in the air. Problem is I haven't seen signs pointing in that direction in the last 4-5 weeks. What might happen is that our Defense comes out breathing fire and absolutely dominates Georgia's Offense, maybe forcing 3-4 turnovers. That would be a sight to see, and if Quinn can keep from turning the ball over and can make enough plays with his arm to free up the running game (Arch could do the same thing), we could find ourselves walking away with a solid victory. If Quinn's injury (injuries?) continues to be a problem however, maybe he ought to be on the bench heeling while Arch gets the reps he'll likely need for the playoffs. -

Running games can be shut down too. UNLV's 250ypg rushing attack is getting demolished right now. The good news is it's tough to shut down both the running game and the passing game. Whoever our QB is, he's got to have a great game. The playoffs are where Sark earns his stripes. He led Alabama' offense to Nattys. Exciting times! Big fucking games coming up! -

I think they're gonna eat Quinn's lunch because he can't run. I'm thinking an early exit, and hopefully Sark has an entirely different game plan set for Arch. If he doesn't, he's an idiot. -

Talk about a momentum changer. Tipped or not, that ball was going to be intercepted. Quinn should never have thrown it. Poor judgement. Pump fake, maybe. I hate these sideline timing routes. -

Look at it this way. Sark has probably hit this thread three times in the last six hours looking for some direction. Hoping for a blinding flash of "fuck, why didn't I think of that". The road ahead is clear. Nothing gonna stop us now. The Dream Season is back on track. Experience QB teams with Freshman to win Natty. A star running back emerges. The next Earl Campbell has arrived! We beat Oregon 33-7. -

I think Sark is frustrated by Quinn's fuckups. I think he's going to begin increasing the pressure on him to fly right. This fucking week... and beginning Saturday, he will indeed bring Arch in the first time Quinn falters. Probably for just a series or two, or maybe one possession if he takes it down the field. Sark knows it's time for Quinn to get his shit together. If Sark has any sense at all, he knows we can't find ourselves in another Garrett Gilbert situation - and if we do, it will be all Sark's fault, and should be. Colt McCoy was healthy and his injury was unexpected, but I'm gonna be pretty surprised if Quinn makes it to the fourth Quarter of the Georgia game without a serious limp. Sark has to know this is a possibility, and I don't think that if Quinn comes up limping this time that Sark will be willing to take his foot off the gas pedal. He absolutely has to get Manning more reps, especially for what lies beyond. Sark should not destroy this team's season because of Quinn. Gonna be interesting. -

If Arch begins seeing more playing time this Saturday... and it turns out he's a quick study and we've only just begun to tap his potential... and over the next two games, he shines, then we'll be there. We'll be as far as we can go this year with a QB tandem ready to take down the Ducks. At the end of that game, the shell-shocked Ducks will be yelling.... DUCK! -

The reason to give Arch more playing time isn't to beat Georgia, it's to beat Oregon. We can stumble along and pray that Quinn doesn't hit a wall, but if/when that happens, we're gonna need someone far more prepared than Garrett Gilbert was when Colt McCoy got injured. Does anyone remember how absolutely painful that was to see an amazing defense stop Alabama time and again only to see Gilbert stink up the field on offense. It wasn't his fault, it was Mack's. It wasn't Colt's fault, he was injured. The same thing is at play with Quinn. He's injured, and that injury (injuries) seem to have hobbled every aspect of his game, especially the ability to tuck it up (or should I say the desire to tuck it up) and run. Has anyone mentioned when he tiptoed down the right sideline and then sort of gave up on the run... because not only had he made first down yardage, he had an open field ahead of him... but I'm pretty sure you can see him let up and lean right only to realize a millisecond later he could be in the end zone in five seconds. But too late, his momentum with that step carried him out of bounds. That's fucking mental. It isn't his fault, he's injured. I don't want to see another game like that loss to Alabama... or last year's Washington game. We shoulda won that game. We've got a team capable of winning it all, just not with an injury prone, injured Quinn. To battle for an entire season and to get all the way there, only to lay a turd. Fuck that. Sark needs to work Arch into the offense beginning Saturday. -

Based on this shot, Helm's head is turned. The ball is thrown three feet or more to his left and a foot off the ground. Helm just gave up. The pass was uncatchable. The safety was a non factor. If indeed the safety was in full sprint (which he wasn't), I could understand our shell-shocked QB throwing it away, however this is where experience is supposed to kick in. If the safety is coming on that strong and we know there wasn't much pressure, a quick pump fake, the safety commits, and it's an 80 yd TD pass. Quinn managed 17 points that could have easily been only 6 points. SC scored like 44 against the Ags, Auburn 43. We scored 17, with a rock solid running game and kick ass defense. Wisner had 186yds on 33 carries. We've got a fly in the ointment, so to speak. (The phrase seems sort of appropriate) -

Good point. Ewers is not under any pressure at all. Safety is gone. Give Helm another half second to look up and you've got a 88 yard TD pass, assuming Evers doesn't throw the ball three yards away from the receiver, which is what he did here. -

What I'm really suggesting is that if Sark wants to put Arch in only in critical or special? situations - which is kind of weird if you think about it - then he needs to let Manning throw the ball, probably half the time. re STeams, I'd give any fake FG that Manning is a part of about an 80% chance of working. The guy makes things happen. -

When Arch came in for his first run, nobody on their D was expecting it, and the outcome couldn't have been any better. After that, however, it seems the only time they put Arch in was to run the ball, and it didn't go well at all. If you're gonna do that, you might as well put a running back in there to replace Quinn. The last thing I'm worried about is a QB Controversy. It's do or die time. Hell, alternate them from possession to possession. That gives each some quality time on the sideline to process the drive he just led. -

Great point. Ten minutes, two long drives, ZERO pts due to Quinn turnovers. Wait, add the 7 the Ags scored. Let's say for argument's sake that that pass that Quinn threw right before Arch's TD run had been intercepted... that one of those three idiot Aggies battling for a ball that should never have been thrown actually manages to hold onto it... Take 7 Texas points off the board. Let's say that on Blue's amazing catch at the back pylon the ball had been thrown four inches to the right and hit the defender in the back... or that Blue had stepped one inch further and the catch was denied... Take another 7 off the board, maybe add 3 for a FG. If everything else stayed the same, we lose that game 7-6. Against a team that was pretty fucking mediocre. I know, "game of inches" blah blah blah. When you're constantly flirting with disaster, it doesn't take much to turn a win into a loss - a giant loss. We shoulda beat those motherfuckers 35-7, or even 45-0. This team is hitting on 5 cylinders with Quinn in the game. Sark's play calling, for whatever reason, is "Some gas, tap the brakes." Sark needs a healthy dose of killer instinct. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Give Quinn one more big mental/physical mistake then pull the plug. Sark, find a formula where our offense moves up and down the field at will, and this D comes in for three to six plays every eight minutes or so, and we will be unstoppable. -

That was an incredible run he made for that first TD. Didn't he get hit at the LOS? Shrugged off a tackle, raced to the five, tiptoed to the pylon? Also incredible that the refs corrected their initial call. And WTF, they did it on the Blue catch as well. Holy shit. -

Don't want to beat a dead horse, but would like to focus on what is really important right now. Some people are just happy being 10-1. Others are pushing for Sark to Wake the Fuck up and take steps to win a Nat'l Championship. We remember the year and the game Vince Young and Texas won the Natty in what was possibly the greatest college game ever played, twenty fucking years ago. Some of us remember the '69 and '70 Nattys. What do we remember about last year's debacle against WAshington? What year was it when we lost the Natty to GA, 10-9???? 49 carries 150yds rushing? 66yds passing???? Well, FYI, it was 1984. Pretty much wiped from memory. This year isn't about beating 10 mediocre teams and losing to the one really good team we faced. It's about winning it all, Witnessing a miracle season, watching those kids take something with them none of us will ever forget, and the amazing plays it took to get us there. Sark doesn't need to play Quinn and hope for the best - he needs to get Manning as many reps as possible while we beat Georgia (hopefully). The dimension he will add to the offense will be undeniable, without putting it all on his shoulders. Then Manning will ride that D and a kick ass running game all the way to the title game. This is all very doable with him - but with Ewers, not so much. He limits this team. If this group of unsung heroes and a freshman QB can pull this off, it will rank right up there (when all is said and done) with that 2005 season. And Quinn will get his due. He was an important part, but he's hobbled. -

Yeah, but he fumbled because he was hit. Any hit past the start of the slide shouldn't be allowed to cause a fumble, seems to me. -
He won that game for us last night. Gave our D a few critical breathers. Reminds me of Priest Holmes. If you watch a greatest plays video of his time with the Chiefs, you can see why he was one of the NFL's greatest running backs. He was injured at UT and a bit underappreciated. Hope Wisner continues to improve and kick fucking ass.

On Quinn's fumble, he was indeed trying to slide, but the refs didn't see it or interpret it as such. Had they done so, the fumble would have been disallowed. Gotta wonder if his ankle boot prevented him from executing it properly. -

Your memory's better than mine. Thanks. A miracle season of amazing plays by an amazing team ending on a giant sour note because one player fucked up big time. If the defender had turned around, he would have intercepted that ball in the corner. Also, right before Arch came in to run for that TD, Quinn threw into triple coverage and the ball was dropped. Had he caught it, it might have been a 98 yard race to our end zone. Quinn got lucky both times. We got lucky. Quinn made a few good throws, but Manning coulda made the same throws, plus he has the ability to turn it up the field for twenty or fifty yards. Quinn's luck is gonna run out against a really good team. How would you like to see us struggle like this all the way to the National Title game? For argument sakes, in each win, it's the D that pulls it out. Ewers continues to make major errors, but we make it and we get to play Oregon. Then Quinn's luck runs out. When we could have Arch in there piling on points, we have Ewers taking points away. Maybe it turns out that with Arch we would have won by three TDs. (Had we gotten that deep into the playoffs with a steadily improving Arch, we likely would have found ourselves with an offense that is unstoppable, and we would kick Oregon's ass.) Nice scenario. We get to live through one of the most magical seasons any team has ever had... But instead, Quinn turns the ball over four times and we end up getting our butts kicked. He can't run. He chokes. He turns the ball over. Sark has to take the RPO out of his game plan. This team deserves better. -

Back in the Eighties (I think), one year Fred Akers fielded one of the best defenses college football had ever seen. Unfortunately, we had a non-existent offense. Nevertheless, we were leading (I think Georgia) in a bowl game, and had we won it, we were off to the National Championship. Because of that D, we led the entire game and at the very end, all we needed to do was field one fucking punt. The punt came in way short, and instead of letting it bounce, the stupid motherfucking punt returner dove at it one foot off the ground and couldn't pull it in. Georgia got the ball and twenty yards later won the game. One player ruined a strong shot at a national championship game for a truly amazing team --- and that is what Quinn Ewers will do if he remains the starter. There's no way he takes us to that game. No fucking way. Manning needs to be starting against GA. We will need QB runs and the pass to beat a really good team. Bench Ewers now, please. -
