  1. Slim City Slicker McCarthy is a fucking genius. He needs promotion to Coach for Life. SMart! Tanked half the season to make everyone think we are losers, then unleashes this offensive monster upon the league. Clear out the Ring of Honor. It's a new era of superstars!
  2. Can Duper Cooper move his feet, or what!
  3. We're back! Making my Super Bowl reservations tonight!
  4. Darnit. We don't get to see Super Duper Cooper throw more completions... That said, 99 yds. Not too shabby!
  5. It's not dumb if Sark knows, or is pretty sure that it's Quinn's last game as starter.
  6. Takeaways from last 12 hrs of comments: 1. Ewers is better at handoffs and screen passes than Manning. Uh huh. 2. Arch's family will be upset if he comes in and takes UT to a win over Aggy in long-awaited reunion. When he goes on to win the SEC and his First National Championship, they'll be so pissed that they'll pull him out of Austin and send him to Ohio State. (He'll need to resign his elections as Mayor of Austin/Governor of Texas). 3. Quinn's receivers simply haven't learned to come back for underthrown passes and knock aside defenders hanging all over them. 4. Quinn's ankle will be fine - until he tries to cut on it, or God forbid, scramble with the ball. Then he's done. Which means that Sark will limit his gameplan to accomodate Quinn, which means the sidearmer will be stuck in the pocket against a defense that will blitz on every play. Which means there'll be no RPOs and perhaps three or four fewer first downs and two or three more punts in the first half alone. Which means that the game will be that much closer or we'll be that much worse off by the time Sark finally puts in Manning, either because of Quinn's injury or performance. Which means Arch will be under even more pressure and very possibly in catch-up mode when he comes in. The aggies will come into this game planning to stuff the run game and daring the sidearmer Quinn, who will be under enormous pressure, to throw the ball. I'm not looking forward to watching this play out. It absolutely doesn't have to happen this way. Start Manning. Run the ball, including RPOs, use the RPOs to throw deep, intermediate and short passes, use Manning's ability to run play-action, drop deep and throw accurate bombs, and resume kicking ass, just like we did when Arch quarterbacked earlier in the year. Quinn will be a millionaire, if he isn't already. I appreciate what he's done so far, but he's injured, and his starting the Aggy game will only hinder this amazing team.
  7. We've been waiting for Quinn the bounce back for about 4 weeks now. Manning combined with an opportunistic defense woulda put up fifty points against KY today. Right now it's "All Gas and One Flat Tire."
  8. Look at the records of the teams we've beaten. And then there's Georgia. Did the O-line take over that game? Fuck no. Did Quinn run in that game? No, but seems Arch had a nice ten yarder in the eight or so snaps he got. What are the Bulldogs ranked now? 10th? They kicked our butts. You can rest on our 10-1 record if you want but it's means didley squat if we lose to A&M, then get beaten again in the playoffs because our QB isn't mobile (and makes some ridiculous mistakes). The top teams in the nation are going to take advantage of the kind of mistakes we saw today and we'll be playing catch up ball the entire game. Too bad Quinn is injured, but Arch is the answer. Ten wins won't mean shit when we come up against an Ohio State or Oregono with a QB who can't move, or an inexperienced QB who wasn't allowed any reps because the Head Coach insisted on playing his hobbled starter until we found ourselves twenty points down with one half to play. The season will be over. I want to see it end with a National Championship, and guess what, Ewers ain't gonna win a Natty.
  9. Loved the running game today. Quinn had his moments, but as expected, his overall performance was mediocre. We might (as in a 50% shot) get past Aggy with a gimpy Quinn, but there's no way he can lead us thru the playoffs. Absolutely no way. I don't care how good our run game is, we cannot go anywhere past Aggy without a mobile QB. We can now see why Sark has had him tiptoeing in the pocket for three weeks. If he gets out there and runs, he gets injured. Whatever is wrong with him, won't be fixed this year. So Sark needs a come to Jesus moment and start Manning against A&M. Arch has probably a greater chance of beating the Ags than Quinn, and if we're going any further, it's Arch that needs the reps - not in the second half, not in the fourth quarter, but from the opening kickoff on. There is simply no reason for Sark to continue this feel-good charade. Ewers, God bless him, is injured. Period. Letting him stumble thru (and maybe even win) one more game isn't going to improve his chances in the NFL draft. Arch is the future of this team. Let's embrace it and move on, deep into the playoffs with a QB who can scramble for ten yards anytime he wants. If SArk mixes that in with the run game we saw today, we will be unstoppable. If Sark relies solely on the run game with an injured QB passing on third down, we are fucked.
  10. Sark is going to bet our season on a head case QB with a gimpy ankle. He fucked up today by not giving Arch some reps.
  11. Sark missed the pefect opportunity to put Manning in. He coulda handed off the fucking ball on that drive. Plus, in a squeeze, he coulda run a keeper for five or fifty yeards. He needs experience. At the rate we saw today, Ewers isn't going to make it to the second half of the Aggy game. Manning needs reps
  12. Don't forget Quinn's lateral out of bounds for an 11 yard loss... If your starting QB is going to throw the ball away, how can he not know to throw it "forward" out of bounds??? Ewers has lost his pocket presence. He's just plain fucking lost
  13. The coach can't trust Ewers to do shit, even on the one yard line. Time to pull his ass and get Arch a few snaps, goddammitt!
  14. I approve this drive
  15. Just stumbling along, waiting for disaster to strike. Sark, get your head out of your ass
  16. So the truth comes out. Ewers has been nursing an injury. Sark, there's no stigma attached to benching him now. Get Manning in there
  17. Way to go D, you motherfuckers!
  18. The run game is working. Sark doesn't seem to know how good he has it. On second and eight, he will always call a pass, and not even play action... So you end up with third and long or first down. On second and eight, for example, he needs to run that ball half the time, leaving him with third and short, (or perhaps first down) which is the perfect time for play action. You get them thinking run on second and long, then you've got another chance for play action. Just feels like he's not taking FULL advantage of these outstanding runners. Ewers is having a decent game. The question is: Will decent be enuf next week against Aggy?
  19. Defense comes out gunning for bear. One Defensive TD, 4 turnovers total. Ewers shows improvement, but gives the ball up three times via pick or fumble. Offense rumbles for 4 TDs/2 FGs. Final Total: UT 41, Ky Jelly 16.
  20. He couldn't fully extend because the pass was out of bounds. He had to keep his feet in bounds. Not a one of the four throws into the end zone against Wash were even close to being caught, IMHO
  21. Here's the rub in the "bring in Arch" scenario: Let's say Quinn plays against Ky like he did against Ark. We win but it ain't pretty. Then the big test. it's against the Ags. Our amazing D keeps the game close. Quinn makes a few good plays and enough bad plays that he just can't get us the lead. Too many mistakes, too few bright spots. The biggest mistakes are Quinn's. Down by ten at the half. Do you pull him then? Middle of the third quarter, we get the ball back, down by ten. Is that too soon to pull Ewers? Conventional thinking would be that he's the experienced one and just needs one good drive and we are back on track. OTOH, we should be up by twenty and we know it. OTOH, you can't wait until it's "do or die" to get Arch out there and get him into the rhythm of the game. Even the middle of the third might be too late. I say make the switch at halftime. It's time to shit or get off the pot. Sark needs to get Arch more snaps in practice, even if it means putting more pressure on Ewers to get his act together. Maybe that's what the team needs, because the pressure is gonna come one way or the other. Best case scenario, Quinn kicks ass against Kentucky, and takes off. Next best scenario, Quinn melts down against Kentucky and Arch comes in and begins his meteoric rise into a Hall of Fame career. Destroys the Ags. Wins the SEC and goes deep into the playoffs.
  22. I think we'll see some more Gibson this weekend
  23. Sounds like our strategy against #13, I mean #8 Georgia. How'd that work out? You're gonna have turnovers... at least you can't plan on them not happening. You need to score early and often. You need a QB who can run the ball in today's game.
