  1. Meaning If I were to come home to a burglarized home I want the ability to call 911 and have the police come out to investigate. Not be forced to call 311 and potentially leave a message that never gets answered. From what i've read, 311 does not mean anyone will be there eventually. That something that will likely become a problem everywhere. It's feels like a poor time to become a police officer. My nephew was an MP in the Marines with a plan to become one but when he got out last year he decided against it.
  2. They should have just campaigned that voting for Prop A will mean the city can now start really enforcing the camping ban... I drove down Pleasant Valley just south of the river along the running trail and it looks like a fucking Boy Scout campground out there
  3. Joseph Chacon has said he is against Prop A no? To be clear i'm not saying Prop A is the answer. I don't know what the answer is. However I see the city wanting to spend 400M to help 3000 homeless so they are just as responsible with their dumb spending choices
  4. For sure... i'm only had to call 911 a few times over the last few years and both times I did have an officer there within 30 min or so. But this being recent or something that's been happening for years shouldn't matter. Either way it does feel like it's something that will make the city unsafer. The city is now announcing to all the crooks out there there might not even be a response... so go ahead and rob that house. To me, making that response time faster sounds like a better use of funds.
  5. Well this does show Austin in a really good light. To the point about budget being back to levels from 2 years ago, it's not crazy to think we would need more budget considering more people and rising costs of the last two years. Maybe it's just Save Austin Now talking points but it's still concerning to hear from the city that we should no longer call 911 and instead call 311 and prepare to wait or leave a message. Is this something that all cities are now experiencing and just par for the course... or is Austin mismanaging the budget they do have? If I have 400M to spend, I do think using it towards protecting all citizens of Austin is a better use of that then just trying to house 3000 homeless.
  6. I'm not loving IBRX right now... ugh
  7. Except for the $100 they will take regardless of outcome
  8. What's old is new again. This was how they did it years ago and then they changed it to only using BIS miles for status since everyone and their brother were Exec Platinum. I'm indifferent as I don't fly very much anymore but I wonder if this just continues to water down the perks.
  9. Well a brand new build in Central Austin is easily more than 1.5M so this would be around half.
  10. They already exist. DEN has a development that I think are already move in ready on east 17th https://austin.culturemap.com/news/real-estate/09-10-21-3d-printed-homes-new-neighborhood-east-austin-market-for-more-than-700000/
  11. Comparing Austin to Detroit and Chicago should not be the bar on whether they are doing well or not. We should compare ourselves to past performance IMO or at least similar cities that exist in similar parts of the country. Maybe it exists but it would be interesting to see the crime rate broke into smaller chunks (neighborhoods, zip, areas). Saying the city if safer overall is great but in reality it might be way worse off in you live in 78702 versus 78703.
  12. I definitely don't have this data nor do I plan on crunching the numbers. Based solely on Murders the biggest increased happened in 2020 and even more in 2021 so it does seem to support that. Is there a lot more to Prop A then requiring a certain number of officers per residents? That by itself seems reasonable in pushing the city to at least increase it's presence. There are likely way better options but it's not like anyone else on the council or mayor is out there trying to fix things. Instead they are lying to use through fake crime number using (per capita or only counting crimes prosecuted versus reporting) Plus since you no longer can call 911 how would you even accurately count reported?
  13. Anything neighborhood west of Mopac looks pretty pro Prop A based on yard signs.
  14. You can say that about both sides. Are we really supposed to believe that we will lose our libraries and parks if Prop A passes. We can spend 175K per homeless person or 10B on light rails that do nothing, but if the police get a few extra hundred mill everything will collapse?
  15. Is there a thread that is going deep on discussing Prop A? I'd love to learn a bit more than what I see on the campaign signs. There is no doubt the police have their issues but it's also not even a question that crime in this city has risen dramatically and the fact that everyone is now told to just call 311 and expect a wait for anything that's not an active felony in process is insane.
  16. The odds of needing police versus needing firefighters is significantly higher so if just based on that I would think it passes. It is quite interesting to see the different by neighborhood that are all opposed or for.
  17. $SOL on a run for sure... $POLY has been letting me down.
  18. Bricco claims to have invented the Esspresso Martini, it's a good spot. I like Monica's in North End Sit at the bars in those restaurants or head over to the wharf / seaport for better bars IMO. Rooftop Bar at Envoy Hotel is a nice scene if the weather is ok. Bell is Hand is super bro Thur - Sat nights. It is an old bar but it's packed and rowdy if that's not what you are looking for

  20. I think she has an account already however just has a few moments so has not triggered the ID check. But if she does for this account then she would run into issue down the road with her account.
  21. Damn. So I had created a TS account for my son so he had a few early moments to sit on but I've just triggered the Identity check. Since he's not 18 he can't technically have an account but it's now locked. If I add my identity i'm guessing it would deny it since I already have my own account. Any ideas on how to get around this?
  22. My BE on $RXMD is .075 so i'm going to hold and hope we can get there in the next few months. I am buying some $GTLB today as I think that has some solid upside.
  23. Great tailgate guys! I should have came over a bit earlier to say hi to everyone before they dispersed to the game.
  24. Sold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Ouch. My avg is .7 will keep holding but make sell a bit if we get a little bounce near that and avg down if we go sub .5 Between that IBRX and UUUU it's the smallest however so if those take off I'll be in good shape.
