  1. Fyi, went by HEB off 7th yesterday and they had Prime 1 briskets on sale for about $4.5 / lb... which is about the same price as the choice they had on the other shelf?!?
  2. Nacogdoches talk not going away
  3. From the article posted above so I think over the weekend. Honestly! At least the ones under I35 and 7th are placed neatly in a row.
  4. That's what I'm hoping for as well... They have an alternate date in August for COVID reasons but have yet to say they are going to postpone. I'm trying to avoid any family drama over skipping if they do have it in July.
  5. My nephew has a wedding scheduled at the end of July and at this point I'm skipping. Since it's at a church the restrictions at the state level have no impact on this correct?
  6. I don't think I have any pics but fired up the grill on Friday to chargrill a few dozen oysters I got from Quality. Took the Weber to around 600, shucked them and placed on the grill, added a nice dollop of butter, garlic, chives, etc. Then sprinkled with some shaved Parmesan before taking off to devour. First time turned out well.
  7. Very nice
  8. I've been looking at ABCmouse.com which is online learning for ages 2-8 (and they also have Adventure Academy for 8-13)... might try it out this summer for my 4 year old and see how it does.
  9. Well this makes me feel a little better about how shitty downtown Austin right now
  10. Wow, just looked up where this is... is this from all the summer beach goers? I rented a house just up the cost from there in early August... was planning on packing in all my food versus going to any restaurants but damn.
  11. MEWN IT... I could use a better run for $WORK... I would have thought retracing some steps and WFH should be helpful.
  12. I'd ask to see the ROI on that 41B before deciding whether we should fund more or reduce. I'm sure there are lots of other impactful ways of spending the 99%
  13. $41B last year in funding.
  14. Decent shower going on in the Downtown area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I think $BYND upside is limited in the short term but still a decent long term hold. I sold about half of mine and letting the rest ride for now. I have not found much else that I really want to invest in at this point.
  16. I guess I could elaborate more by saying it's very unlikely that this is fully controlled until herd immunity and/or vaccine which is probably unlikely until 2021. Yes, we starting opening in May but my point is we had to start re-opening eventually and when we did case were going to spike. We can debate the speed at which we opened but some reopening needed to happen.
  17. I really doubt anyones wife(even those that work) are too busy to gripe.
  18. We could have waited until June or July and we would still be right here just a few months later... this isn't going away, isn't the goal just to contain as much as possible within reason? I do find it funny that mandating masks at the state level is such a trigger event for everyone.
  19. Early Fathers Day gift from the wife. She found it at a Twin in Austin. Yep, it’s a 1.75! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Was just wondering if a thread like this was started yet. Watching closely for sure as our PreSchool was cancelled once this hit and we have not gone back. However in August both kids would be in the program however if they stay home that going to be a big inconvenience for sure as we are both still working from home. I think both our offices are saying we don't go back in until at least 2021 but kids at home is not good on productivity as many of you know. And I don't even want to get started on the tuition I'm paying for BS "online learning"
  21. Do we have any indication on why Texas is being more impacted than anywhere else? I can't imagine Texas is doing anything different than many of the other states where business have started opening up. Has Texas opened at a faster rate that every other state?
  22. What would you guess the percentage of people wearing masks in Austin is? Even conservatively I'd say it's 70-80% which is pretty good. Tack on that extra 20% and would the virus levels have gone down since Memorial Day? IDK My point is that overall I think Austin is doing a good job following advice... we will always have a few people that don't follow every order. Speed limits are set to save lives too.
  23. Have you ever left your house without a mask? I know I have and either had to go back and grab it or alter my plans on what I was going to pickup. I don't think it's a huge issue (although my cloth mask is starting to get a bit hot) but maybe we could get more disposable masks placed out for use. There will always be some folks that refuse for various reasons but that's always going to exist. But if we all wear masks will that really have that much more of an impact? Not sold on that... I do it because I'm asked to do my part.
  24. So now we need to dedicate law enforcement to patrolling stores and handing out tickets? That does not sound like the best use of their time to me. By my experience the majority of people in every store I've been in are wearing masks. (Yet we are at higher levels than when no one was wearing masks) How are you going to convince people to put all this effort into mandating masks across the state and find some way of enforcement. I'm fine for leaving it to the individual establishments to require a mask and ask people to leave if they don't comply. If there are a few people not wearing masks in Home Depot do that really significantly increase someone else's chance of contracting COVID (that is taking the precautions of masks and hand washing) to the point that we should be thinking about mandating it? We have slowed the spread, flattened the curve and our hospitals are not being overrun. Are some of you really in favor of shutting everything down again?
