  1. [CSB]I went to HS in Dallas, and my senior football season, a non-district opponent canceled on us at the last minute, so our school looked for a replacement... any replacement. The closest willing opponent we could find was Beaver High School in the Oklahoma Panhandle, and, unfortunately, we had to play up there. There is nothing there but sandy pasture; however, the town's claim to fame is being the "cow chip-tossing capital of the world." Their stadium is a dump, and every time they got a first down, their band of a half-dozen students played the saddest version of "Boomer Sooner" I'd ever heard. We kicked their ass.[/CSB]
  2. I don't see this happening, at least not anytime soon. The Big East kept its status as a power conference several years after Miami and VaTech left and continued to do so until the ACC picked off the best of the rest. I suspect the same thing will occur here when "The Alliance" finally decides to partition the best of the new Big 12 in the next five or so years.
  3. I *really* don't think we'll be in the Big 12 at the same time as these newbies, but if we are for a short time, this is how I see the divisions broken up: WEST: Texas OU Baylor Tech TCU OSU BYU EAST: WV UCF Cincy ISU KU K-State Houston When we and OU leave, shift Houston to the West.
  4. No doubt, but unfortunately this isn't exactly a new phenomenon.
  5. What in the fuck?? Anyone know a bar in East Dallas that has Paramount+?
  6. This looks good to me. Here's my pick for the non-pod permanent opponents: Pod A Georgia - Auburn Florida - Alabama Kentucky - Tennessee South Carolina - Vanderbilt Pod B Alabama - Florida Auburn - Georgia Tennessee - Kentucky Vanderbilt - South Carolina Pod C LSU - Arkansas Miss. St. - Missouri Ole Miss - Oklahoma A&M - Texas Pod D Arkansas - LSU Missouri - Miss St. Oklahoma - Ole Miss Texas - A&M
  7. K-State is still in a better position than Purple Baylor or Baylor Classic.
  8. Okie State to the PAC makes sense. I feel like K-State is probably slightly better academically than Tech, but by every other metric, Tech would seem to be the much more attractive candidate.
  9. The past month for U.S. foreign policy has been a massive nut kick.
  10. I was wondering this too. Is there a 2020s-version of the Northern Alliance or something out there?
  11. This third season is pretty rough.
  12. Nobody watched this morning before work? USA beats South Korea 7-2. Advances to gold medal game Saturday morning at 5am.
  13. Don’t tug on Superman’s cape, Aussies.
  14. This tournament's format seems very unstable. DR has now lost twice in the "knockout round," including its initial game in a losers' bracket. Shouldn't they be completely eliminated with the next US-Korea game loser getting bronze and the winner playing Japan for gold? DR now gets an extra day rest to play for a medal.
  15. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I'd rather see Tech take Mizzou's spot only because of the secondary rivalry we have with them.
  16. That gives them 15. Who's #16? Iowa State? Someone from the ACC or Pac? Mizzou??
  17. NBC Sports App. You should be able to download it from any smart tv, roku, or from the app store.
  18. Yes. The mayor made the announcement Friday evening, and by Saturday, everyone was requiring one to be worn indoors, sometimes even while I had a drink in my hand.
