  1. Respectfully, read more closely. You weaken your arguments through poor comprehension. The failings of Christianity only sound like hyperbole to someone with their head in the sand, and that blindness is a cancer in this country. Less respectfully, go clean up your own house. It's where the bad shit is happening.
  2. Twas a joke. Cribbed from the late, great, Norm Macdonald. Of course the racism and child abuse are the worst part.
  3. Of course they don't read the Bible. Even Baptists, who pride themselves on Bible study, merely twist that shit into whatever they need it to be. This is nothing new, it's what Christianity has always been, whether it's priests, pastors, or assholes in the flock manipulating people through fear of the boogieman. However, the "no true Scotsman" bullshit that comes from many Christians (including many Southern Baptists) is almost as bad as the openly bigoted assholes in the club. It pisses me off more, in fact, as at least the bigots openly out themselves. And we all know hypocrisy is the worst part, not the racism and child abuse.
  4. This is at the heart of what is wrong with public discourse these days, and yes it's people of all stripes. It's manipulative nonsense and everyone, myself included, falls for it all the time. Fuck politics, religion, and designated hitters.
  5. It was on the top floor after leaving a shoe store. I don't want to write anything further in case any more comes of it. Thank you for the offer, but I can assure you he and his buddy remember the encounter well and will not likely ever forget it. The fucked up personality required to assault a kid is bad enough, but the stupidity to do it right in front of her father (who is not a marshmallow) is the part that has always stuck with me as the most insane. Dad strength is real. Don't fuck with it.
  6. I took my ten-year-old daughter to Barton Creek Square about six months ago for a pair of shoes. As we walked down one of the main pathways, a 20-something-year-old piece of shit walking with his buddy leans over and screams as loud as he can directly into my daughter's ear for no reason. A physical altercation ensued involving me and the two assholes. Security did eventually show up, but it was all over by that point. Malls are dead. Long live (outdoor) malls. I guess. Shit can happen anywhere, but that place is a dump and, like malls always have, attracts young people with nowhere else to go. And in any crowd of young people, you're going to find some troublemaking dipshits.
  7. lol - see my comment regarding whiny bitches. Holy shit. * I too work from home with kids, and you need a fucking vacation.
  8. Having operated with an entirely remote work force for well over a decade now, I've seen the good and the bad. Everyone on our staff has a minimum of a bachelor's, most with a terminal degree (the point being these are educated individuals). Over the years slightly fewer than half the hires have been able to handle working from home successfully. For some, it goes well for a year or two before excess liberties are taken and their work suffers. We've figured out how to pinpoint the traits that are more likely to lead to a positive outcome, so the numbers have improved over the years, but on the whole I'd say that WFH is great for about half of people, but a slight majority do not actually handle it well. The one thing I know for sure is that almost everyone thinks they're more efficient working from home than at the office, even when evidence points to the contrary. E.g., show me a parent of children under 15 who claims to be more efficient at home and I'll show you a liar (or at least someone lacking self-awareness). Generally speaking, management tends to be willfully obtuse and employees tend to be whiny bitches. Everyone on all sides is so fucking entitled that we're headed down a path that will lead to misery and degradation for all, no matter where you park your ass to "work".
  9. While I would love to find a way to get rid of dead weight in all of the conferences, relegation is based on wins and losses. That might lead to something none of us would be interested in seeing happen. No way a down year for Bama, or UT, would result in a cash cow being relegated - networks would never agree to that kind of set up. The only way to get rid of dead weight would be to form an entirely new conference, and the heavy branding of the SEC likely prevents that from happening any time soon.
  10. So much bullshit posted on twitter. No one knows a damn thing, and we wont' either until some type of press conference or interview happens after this meeting. It would be shocking if the PAC actually gets everyone to sign a GOR, and should render any decision maker involved toxic for any future job openings. AU would be stupid to stay even if Oregon and Washington stick around. They're clearly not in for the long haul no matter what they do now.
  11. Slamming any conference for scheduling is a weird thing to do for any fan of an SEC school. The SEC is notorious for playing non-con schools that don't actually exist to pad their win column, and it's been the most top-heavy conference outside of the ACC for at least twenty years so it's not like they have a tough row to hoe all season. Follow all that with its insistence on picking the bowl matchups when no other conference does, and there isn't a more candy corn/powder puff conference in existence when it comes to working schedules to pad numbers. It's smart and helped build the mythology that eventually became a reality in terms of the SEC, but it's some seriously candy-assed bullshit and leaves no one with a leg to stand on if we're going to be pointing fingers about scheduling.
  12. I assume you have met an aggy or two before. Imagine them, and then double the delusional attitudes and misguided sense of entitlement coming from a school with nothing particularly special going on that was not a P5 until 2011. They're like a mashup of TCU and aggy. Aside from their terrible know-nothing fanbase, the school just doesn't bring anything to the table for a major conference. The Big 12 already has that small market (3M people or so in the state) covered, and the SEC and B1G don't need or want it. Utah brings nothing to the table.
  13. Scheer is running game for Robbins, as per usual. Don't know what to think about what they're trying to do, but perhaps it's engender FOMO in OR/WA. It's certainly in their best interest that those two join the Big 12 with them rather than ASU and UU.
  14. Stupid move by Big 12 if so. If Oregon and WAshington are off the table, they should sit still with Arizona. ACC breakup will provide much better options that the net negatives of Utah and ASU.
  15. True. I still don't think B1G wants anything to do with Oregon and Washington. The paperwork would already be drawn up and done. If anything, this leak of a meeting to talk about the PNW schools is more about pressuring Notre Dame, and/or putting heat on ACC schools to figure out a way to break free.
  16. ESPN and FOX both own significant Big12 rights, and they both come out ahead with Oregon and Washington in the Big 12. With fucking Rutgers getting a full share in the B1G, I have a difficult time seeing Oregon or Washington agreeing to a reduced share, but it's possible. I just don't see the value for ESPN or FOX here. The only ones rooting for this are those who love the idea of a P2 system when it's becoming clear the networks want a P3. And while the schools can always say no to an offer, that's the extent of the say they have in all this. The one thing I hope everyone can agree on is that Utah belongs back in the cellar.
  17. For both Fox and ESPN, It is cheaper, and ultimately better for downstream revenue, for Oregon and Washington to join the Big12. They get them for less that way, and help bolster that conference into something they can package and sell for years to come. The writing is on the wall, in my opinion. PNW is not going B1G, and the PAC is already collapsed. They have one landing spot.
  18. Hell, we shouldn't even run for-profit companies the way we run for profit-companies.
  19. It is, but it's important to let them put up a pretense. Much like frats do menial community service and pretend like it's not just a drinking crew.
  20. Kind of amazing the Big 12 had that kind of draw for TCU v. KSU. Based on that sole data point, it seems like they may be okay when the dust settles. Hard not to imagine two better-known programs, even if they're not blue bloods, driving that number up significantly. e.g. Tech v. BYU or something.
