Most companies can't pay an invoice within thirty days. A 95 day timeline is incredible.

I've spent most of my career training our customers that they either pay now or fuck off.  We're not a bank.  I suspect the companies that still insist on paying you when they feel like it are run by mouth breathing aggies with horse paste in their veins.  Get with the times or die on a ventilator.  We've managed to drag a few of the big boys into the modern era, to the chagrin of their accounting departments.

Fucking dammit. I have to travel to Stillwater for work next week. I guess I’ll get my third and fourth shot tomorrow just to be safe.

@Sbbruin, possibly save me a spot on the floating pyre.

Stillwater?  You may want to get every vaccine you can.

I thought about that but I know it'll bring out some of the Karens in the group.  Apparently asking someone to volunteer, if they're comfortable, their vaccination status is like asking how much money they make or how they like it in the bedroom.

I recommend sending the email, but start with these two questions to soften them up before the vaccination question.  You might learn some enlightening things.

Kiddos enjoyed first day in-person in 17 months. Vast majority, 90 to 95% in masks. Sixth and fourth grade. Middle school allowed eating outside. I purchased 2 air purifiers for 4th grade homeroom. And yet I expect a "pause" and school shutdown within the first month. Not too worried about their health if they get it - if I was they would be doing virtual. Daughter can be fully vaxed soon, and hopefully the FDA will allow age 5 to 11 shots soon.

Which air purifiers did you get?

Well, took my two littles that came home sick last night for covid tests around lunch today. Should know something back tomorrow PM.   One has been feeling better, the other worse.  Not certain either have anything other than cold/bug, but still sucks.

We were there a couple of weeks ago.  No Covid, no strep, no RSV.  Just a shitty, shitty viral bug.

What you seem to be missing is that thanks in large part to Greg Abbott, none of us in that predicament can do the same thing anymore.  We'd be lucky to get enough money to provide lifetime healthcare for the injured, let alone upward of 10k/month.  And if you incur the same type of injury from medical negligence, you're just plain fucked.

At least our insurance rates went down as promised.

Charge them for the amount of time those 80 students aren't in class, charge them for the tests, charge them the salaries of staff members who had to stay home for that time.

Parents would get the idea really quick not to fuck around with other kids.

And these are the same asshole parents who send their kids to school sick because they don't want to watch them (or can't), so that my kid gets sick and misses school and/or passes it to me.

Yep.  Same assholes we've always had.  Fuck the selfish bastards.

People who have degrees, especially law degrees, from Princeton, Harvard, Yale, UT, etc. were not failed by the education system.

I'm in this exact group, and I know plenty of dumbasses amongst fellow alumni. Obviously, these institutions can provide a great education if you take advantage of the opportunity, but they're a tiny segment of our education system (and those who end up in these institutions still rode the memorize and regurgitate train to get there). I agree that there are also plenty who know better but are simply milking the dummies.

It isn't the education - plenty who are educated at the best schools are being complete dumbasses on purpose when it comes to this, and plenty who are not well-educated are being cautious.

The fact that "educated" people are being complete dumbasses is a sign that the education system has failed us, in my opinion.  We do not consistently teach critical thinking at any level of education.  Anything that sounds logical or rational will convince a certain percentage of the public.  The problem with reason and logic is that they are limited by your knowledge base.  If all you can see is flat earth all around you, and you don't know anything else, well by god the earth must be flat.  It just makes sense.  Those who can think critically understand the limits of their knowledge and seek to expand it when necessary, or rely on trusted sources, in order to make a decision.  Those who cannot do this are the ones easily fooled by "common sense" thinking.   I'm a terminal degree holder myself, but I graduated with a ton of functional dumbasses who fall into the latter category.  And of course we all know folks who don't have a formal education but have brilliant minds.  Intelligent people tend to struggle in our education system, sadly.  People who follow rules and have good memories thrive.  This is why I say education has failed.

Literally mine was a response to the idea that there are people in all walks of life not vaxed, and many of them not publicly proclaiming their hesitancy.  Nothing more.

Oh I know.  I was running with your train of thought there, not contradicting.

Yep.  I'm sitting in an office right now that's half Vax and half not. I don't understand the not.  I've probed gently but these are responsible professional 6 figure earners.  Also women, but past their reproduction ages.  I have zero idea why they wouldn't do it.  They are convinced it's a bad idea.

    Double Jeopardy Round

    Category: Common Misconceptions

A: Earning a degree, having a successful professional career, earning six figures or more.

Q: What are three things that have nothing to do with whether or not you're an idiot.

One of my favorite justifications that antivaxers throw around is that 40% of medical industry aren't vaccinated.  Like every other industry out there, at least half of the people working in healthcare are mental midgets.

  12. I'm not sure how we ever get back to a functional society at this point.  The Russians/Chinese/whoever the fuck have figured out how to manipulate Americans with low critical thinking skills to the point where we are two different nations living on top of one another.  I used to think the red/blue divide was bad, but this is so much worse.  Our abysmal public school system over the last few decades is largely to blame for this nonsense, but there is chum in the water at this point and our enemies are feasting.  Conspiracy nuts are now mainstream.  We used to collectively laugh at these people and marginalize them.  What the fuck happened?  How do so many people fall for this shit?  How did Aggie dumbassery spread so far?  Is it the SEC's fault?  Probably.

The principal sent out an update email for masks, meet the teacher, etc. this afternoon.  The first comment, which was not anonymous, was the following

“Will our children be able to ignore or break school rules or policies they don’t agree with or feel like following?”

I assumed it was in jest and laughed heartily.  My wife believes it to be serious which causes my brain to hurt.

Why do people suck so fucking much?  Holy shit.
