  1. Year round DST is bullshit if you have kids or a job with an early start time, especially if you live on the western edge of your time zone where the sun already rises later for the time on the clock. It would be pitch black on the way to work/school 3/4 of the year. I've always assumed that folks who push for permanent DST are childless degenerates who never get up before noon, or just assholes who love to mow their yard at 9:00 at night just to avoid their wife and bother their neighbors. I'll never understand why people want it to be light outside later at night in the summers in Texas when it's going to be 100 fucking degrees anyway. The sun going down is the only thing that cools things off just a bit. We should want that shit to happen earlier, not later, to fully enjoy summer evenings. Add in that study after study has shown that DST is bad for your body and health, increases dangers on the roads in the mornings for kids on the way to school as well as commuters, and it's a no brainer to ditch DST entirely and stick to standard time all year.
  2. Don't worry, when someone finally puts that guy down they'll be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The system is working as intended.
  3. Watching state leadership work to turn UT into the world's leading right-wing university is fascinating. I guess they were getting jealous of the folks down the road in College Station. By comparison to those two, Texas Tech is starting to look like a den of liberals with its leading wind energy research and functioning fine arts departments. The world is genuinely turning upside down.
  4. I'm not arguing with anything else you've written, but there is a 99% likelihood that a dude with a 56" chest is a gigantic lard ass whose body dismorphia has convinced him he's Schwarzenegger. I'm not sure that's the best measure of swagger.
  5. The extra weight isn't exactly the primary turn-off.
  6. Thank you for making me feel better about being smell blind.
  7. Kris is the man. It's not as on point as ole' Dick Chop, urologist to, well, everyone with a penis in Travis County for decades, but a UT kicker as a top podiatrist in town makes me smile nonetheless.
  8. Thanks. I don't know why I had Russians in my head. I've spent time in Gaines County as well, but only as a visitor (we were in the same district with Seminole, and I don't miss those long bus rides home after getting whipped in football). That migration didn't really pick up speed until after my time, but I recall the beginnings of it and the grumbling of the locals.
  9. This has likely already been covered and I missed it, but based on the epicenter being in Gaines County this is clearly an issue with the Russian Mennonites who moved in there a few decades ago. Not that there aren't plenty of run-of-the-mill yoga-loving new-agers and ivermectin-guzzling dumbasses who are on the anti-vax train, but this outbreak seems to be more of a cultural/immigration issue. Here's hoping they all don't join forces, although that may be a win if the modern anti-vax crowd chooses to isolate themselves in places like Seminole.
  10. People that dumb don't deserve to die just because they're dumb, but one can't ignore the benefits to the gene pool if they do.
  11. Don't go dragging the Northern Irish into this mess. We only sever our hands to win land claims.
  12. This thread title immediately made me think of 90% of parents at middle school pick-up time.
  13. Depends on whether or not you enjoy a good curry.
  14. You don't necessarily want to have it in America, either.
  15. That's no doubt some of what I see around here. We have plenty of olds in our hood, although it's probably the younger families who moved here from big cities and never dealt with a yard before.
  16. I let our St. Augustine go dormant every winter, as it's better for the grass, my pocketbook, and the water supply. But we have plenty of neighbors who water year-round, and their St. Augustine stays green year-round (this is in Austin). It's a choice, I guess, depending on the climate where you're at.
  17. I might quibble with the use of the word "men" there.
  18. This "reporter" may be the most obnoxious person involved in this story, partly because she's not involved at all but is working overtime to appear to be. She's also a bit of a dumbass, as she highlights at the very top of the video. Every actor with the slightest bit of juice (perceived or in reality) tries to gain some creative control over their projects or, at the least, to be credited for more than acting. This has gone on for ever and is not at all unique to Lively. It's often obnoxious behavior, especially when it is unearned, but it's not something every actor you love to watch hasn't also done. Much like the first video this reporter posted, it's a rather weak attempt at clickbait and has nothing to do with the ongoing dispute with Baldoni. She's getting what she wants out of it though, which is more attention for herself.
  19. For fuck's sake. How do a bunch of jags who constantly go on about groomers, traffickers, etc. support this guy? I know reason left the building a long time ago and I shouldn't be surprised, but damn. Mostly, I can't believe this Tate piece of shit isn't dead yet. He's bound to piss off the wrong brother/father/boyfriend at some point, and lose that tiny little pinhead of his in an "accident."
