  1. These look exactly like my Tony Lama chocolate lizards (those may be black, can't tell), which are my oldest pair of boots. Bought in 1995 - my first "nice" pair of cowboy boots. They're not in the best shape anymore and I would love to buy another pair but I don't think they make them in chocolate anymore.
  2. Because they were making fun of the dumb hick Aggie stereotype, just like we continue to do today. Are you implying A&M had black students in 1903?
  3. No, it did not come about recently. The history of the song is well documented, research it yourself. If there was some nefarious racist meaning in the lyrics then surely the SJWs would have uncovered it by now. EDIT: Also this:
  4. Where in the world did you read or hear that? If that was the case I think everyone would agree the song is racist and it should go. This is the origin: “The lyrics are said to be intended to poke fun at University President Colonel Prather. Prather had attended Washington College, now Washington and Lee University, whose president, Robert E. Lee, would frequently tell his students, "the eyes of the South are upon you." Prather was known for including in his speeches a similar admonition, "The eyes of Texas are upon you," meaning that the state of Texas was watching and expecting the students to go out and do great things. Prather enjoyed the song and promoted its usage. He died not long thereafter, and the song was played at his funeral.”

Scrapping it because it was played at a minstrel show once or twice 120 years ago -- and then sung thousands upon thousands of times by generations of UT students and alumni -- of all colors -- as a unifying show of support and appreciation for their school makes no sense at all.
  6. This is not a "fact" -- that is the issue. There was no racist intent behind the song, regardless of where/when it was first performed.
  7. About 7 years ago, a friend of mine (I was dating one of her friends at the time) was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in the kitchen of another friend of mine. They had only been dating a few months and he was the super jealous type, and obviously batshit crazy. They had been fighting that evening and when they got back to her friend's house, they continued fighting into the early hours and he just snapped and stabbed her. She had been living with the guy in California and brought him home to Austin to meet her family and friends for the weekend. Some of her girlfriends had met him previously and knew right away there was something "off" about him. They had planned to take her to brunch the next day for an intervention of sorts. Unfortunately it was too late. The guy fled the scene and was later caught by cops. He'd tried, unsuccessfully, to cut his own throat. In the trial, the piece of shit actually tried to claim self defense. He's in prison for life. She was a fun, sweet woman in her 30s. SWA flight attendant. Just chose the wrong guy. Another one....Around 2000-2001 or so, a girl I worked with, early 20s, was killed by her husband in a murder-suicide in Cedar Park.
  8. Tecovas and Cueros are both pretty quiet for whatever reason. The boot guys here who are much smarter than me could probably explain why.
  9. PSA: Cuero boots are 25% off now through Feb. 14 with coupon code "LOVE" at checkout. That's on top of the sale price, so the Eastwoods are $138 -- and that's including tax. Just got myself another pair. Couldn't pass them up at that price.
  10. I've always considered it a personal favorite and one of the greatest country songs ever recorded.
  11. I love how he just runs straight through the people. "Coming through!!!!" lulz
  12. Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.
  13. Authentic Teju Lizard as best I can tell. They seem to be fairly well made (wooden pegs, etc). https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrini-Teju-Lizard-Round-Toe-Dress-Western-Brown-Mens/401997083487
  14. Anyone have any experience with Ferrini boots? Based in Carrolton, Texas and hecho in Mexico. Came across a pair of lizard skins online marked down below $200 and decided to pull the trigger on them as a Xmas present to myself. Can always return them. Haven't been able to find out much about Ferrini but what I have read is mostly positive.
  15. Storm Duck is one of the greatest names in all of football.
  16. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.
  17. Good question. He played at WVU. They've had a few guest pickers this year with no connection to either school, which is just stupid.
  18. I guess I didn't realize NDSU Bison fans do the Hook'em Horns hand sign. I turned on GameDay earlier and all the SDSU fans were doing Horns down and I was really confused.
