  1. And I'd Cinderella Man. He was perfect in that role.
  2. A few I'm surprised didn't make the cut: Midnight Cowboy, West Side Story, North by Northwest, Stalag 17.
  3. It hasn't been mentioned, but he was also really, really good in Spy Game (2001) with Brad Pitt. Very underrated movie, IMO.
  4. The Happening was one of the most laughably bad movies I've ever seen (at least when talking about movies with a big name director and star).
  5. Some of these posts are mind bottling. I think I've seen most "big" or "classic" movies going back to the 1960s, and quite a few before that. Part of that I can thank my parents for, as they're sort of movie buffs. My Dad's DVD collection is impressive, to say the least. I've never seen any Harry Potter, any Fast & Furious, and only the first LOTR. Couldn't give a shit about any of the recent "big" superhero movies. The only other one I can think of is Grease, which came out when I was a little kid. My older sisters were crazy about it, so it was always on around the house, but I had no interest in it. I've seen enough scenes to feel like I've seen it, and I know the music. But I've never sat down and watched it from beginning to end.
  6. The dog's....which, come to think of it, may explain the howling.
  7. Show this to your wife. I bet she changes her mind. Also, would (the girl, not the dog)
  8. Yeah I think some dogs enjoy howling along to music of all kinds, not just blues harp. Hell, when I was a kid my grandma's miniature schnauzer would howl along to her singing and playing the organ.
  9. I think some of y'all may be naming the #1 song on the day you were born instead of the #1 song on your 14th birthday, as stated in my post. Not that it really matters, of course. It's just some stupid shit I saw on Facebook. But I think the point was popular music has a real impact on you when you're around that age...or something.
  10. And I imagine that goes X100 when it's in front of a TV crew following you around.
  11. I thought Moonrise and The Grand Budapest Hotel were both great.
  12. I'm just going over our annual report...boy did we take it on the chin last year.
  13. As far as I can tell your entire enterprise is more than a solitary man with a messy apartment which may or may not contain a chicken.
  14. Taco Deli "banned" straws about a month or so ago, displaying a sign by the fountain drink station explaining their decision under the header "The Last Straw." But they half-assed their "ban". They'll still give you one on request. The one I frequent the most (N Lamar) even keeps a big tin full of straws right next to the cash register. I never even bother asking. I just reach over and grab one on my way out while staring at the guy behind the register.
  15. Was it the most thrilling episode? No, of course not. They're setting the stage for the season. It's always a slow build-up. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't expecting fireworks right off the bat because that's never been this show's MO.
  16. Duvall as Gus McCrae was already mentioned but I'd also say Tommy Lee Jones and really damn near the entire cast on Lonesome Dove Jon Hamm and John Slattery - Mad Men Philip Seymour Hoffman - Charlie Wilson's War and Capote Gregory Peck - To Kill a Mockingbird Peter O'Toole - Lawrence of Arabia Daniel Day Lewis - Lincoln George C. Scott - Patton Ed Harris and Dennis Quaid - The Right Stuff Tom Hanks - Sully
  17. Ain't a couch in Columbus that's safe tonight.
