  1. oops - wrong thread
  2. If he reported the 2015 incident (which I highly doubt), and if that triggered a Title IX investigation (no idea if it would), wouldn't there be more than some just emails that are easily deleted or "lost"? Wouldn't there actually be required forms, documentation, paperwork, etc. with the Title IX office? Seems like that's the only kind of proof that would back him up.
  3. Ate there on a weekly basis in college. Damn I miss it. The day the placed closed, one of the local TV stations did a news story about it. They had a reporter on the scene as crews were carrying away tables and chairs in the background. As I'm watching, my fraternity's president enters the picture, looks around, pulls a big beer sign off the wall and walks away with it. /csb
  4. I'm not one for moral victories, but I made it all the way to August. And that's something.
  5. This is correct. He might have skated in the past. Not now.
  6. Nice first post. Now fuck off.
  7. The guy is a POS and a psycho who should serve jail time for terroristic threats. I don't get why she would continue to engage him as long as she did, though. Just doesn't seem very smart or safe. Once he started with the vile threats, better to ignore/block him and go straight to the cops (which I guess she eventually did -- sucks they didn't respond).
  8. Username checks out. Avatar checks out.
  9. I got a text from the Beto campaign last week addressing me as Nathalie. That's only weird because I've had the same mobile number for probably 15 years or so.
  10. The fact that the city's name was even included on a list of names "that require more analysis" is more than reason enough to call out city officials for their dumbassery. Just because it's unlikely to happen doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized for wasting time and money on silly shit like this, as if there aren't actual problems to address.
  11. What movie is that from?
  12. Brilliant. Also I just realized you were referring to the La Madeleine chain. Woosh!!
  13. Only problem with that is that an overpriced French eatery called La Madalyn sounds exactly like the kind of place hipsters would flock to.
  14. This. I am so in. Trailer looks great.
  15. People's Republik of White Guiltistan
  16. Watched Beirut last night. Set during the 1982 Lebanese civil war. Jon Hamm plays an alcoholic former U.S. diplomat. Didn't really know anything about it going in but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended if you like espionage thrillers. And I thought Hamm was excellent in it. Probably his best film role I've seen.
  17. Something doesn't seem right about that. I'm guessing the accelerator got stuck or the brakes went out. Also, am I going to hell for laughing at the repeated "OH OOOHH AAHH AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!"? I mean, it says no one was seriously hurt.
  18. I'm 46. There was actually quite a bit more graphic nudity and sex in mainstream movies in the 70s & 80s than in today's mainstream movies. Hollywood was more libertine in general in the 70s, and the raunchy teen sex comedy became a staple of the 80s. Slasher flicks with very graphic violence also became hugely popular in the 80s. TV is the opposite, however. The adult content & themes in today's primetime network TV shows never could have been shown on TV in the 80s or prior. Seinfeld and Friends were two shows that played a big role in changing that in the early 90s.
  19. This. He merely thought about it and then made the correct moral decision not to. If he had, I don't think it wouldn't have gone over well even back then.
  20. I don't know, dude, it doesn't say. You asked me to give an example of someone who had to change their show to be politically correct. I gave you an example: John Cleese says he had to stop making race-related jokes. I am sure there are countless other examples out there. The Salon article includes quotes from 10 comedians commenting on the issue (not counting Seinfeld) who I assume have had to make changes to their acts, since they seem to care enough about it to complain. If you think you know more about it than they do, that's cool. But I'm going to give them more credence since it's how they make their living.
  21. Well, here's one for example, which I posted earlier... I think John Cleese explains pretty eloquently above why he should be able to "get away with it." As Seinfeld says, it's "anti-comedy":
  22. Ah, public transportation. Don't you love it?
  23. Huh?? Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is streaming content and it has been wildly successful. Let me know the next time Seinfeld, Rock, Chappell, Gaffigan, etc have trouble selling out shows. Like I said, stand-up ain't dead, but it may be dying a slow death due to political correctness.
