  1. Just had scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and japs with Valentina hot sauce on top with a couple pieces of thick cut bacon, some hot Owens sausage, white toast with butter and grape jelly.
And 2 cups of coffee with Buffalo Trace bourbon cream.
It was glorious and I think I’m gonna go take a nap in a bit.

  2. In "bourbon related news", Boar's Head BourbonRidge Uncured Smoked Ham is really freaking good. I recommend.

I concur. Ate sandwiches made from it all last week. Good shit

In a mini barrel or just a bottle/decanter?

    60/40 ratio of antique/ W12?

you let anything sit in a mini barrel for that long and it's going to be so overpowered by oak it won't be drinkable IMO.

Moving on to a new and surprisingly tasty new addition.

I really like it.  It's definitely different, but smoooooth and tasty.  Great bottle for the $.

  5. My dad Earl…the large ebony philanderer who before he was planted in a unmarked grave in Manhattan KS by a bitter widow once got so hornied up after eating a particularly good Chinese meal that he signed up to be drafted by the Korean war so that he can travel to Vietnam and fight the Germans to get close to the Taiwanese Malaysians from Japan where he could sniff out the ovulation trail of some Mexican Asian bride who would try to run from his air humping hips all the way across the Himalayas to get away from him but he was so full of pre me too that he had to chase her for 6 months until he finally tackled her in a mid-western wheat field and made her fall in love with him long enough to force his Viagra engorged tinkle stick into her dusty hair matted mucus cave so that 9 months later he had to climb up a transformer pole to a bald eagles nest and squat over a shredded copy of the constitution and welp out a bm bottom baby that would someday cheat on a Swedish supermodel and win 15 majors before doing this very interview. He says hi.

  6. Totally agree when you put it that way.
And on the opposite end of the price spectrum I offer this.
I’m not a regular WR fan but this stuff is really good. Just a little overpriced. If it was $80 instead of $125, I’d buy it buy the case if I could.

  7. I'd definitely put Old Grandad 114 on the "New to Bourbon" list.

    How so?
I’m not new to bourbon by any means and what brown water noobs can handle 114 proof?
  8. I could see Four Roses Small Batch Select turning the industry/market on its ear again. Readily available, $52.99, and exceptional. It shouldn't exist in this market, but it does.

    Y’all are lucky.
It’s not hitting DFW til the fall.
    Man down tonight.

  9. My best bargains list:
Best barrel strength: Ezra Brooks 7 Barrel Strength ($30)
Best in class: Weller Antique 107 (prior to the $50 jump, at $25 a bottle)
Best rye: Old Forester Rye ($21.99). I wrestled with this one. The malted barley element just works and makes it different.

1910 and Jefferson's Double Oaked "Custom" Barrel priced themselves out of the bargain category, but they're both outstanding for the money and can be found on the shelf.

    Don’t sleep on OG 114.
    Killer stuff @$21

Yeah BigDHorn and myself thought we were slick when he discovered the Goody Goody KC SiB was a 13 year 11month bottle for $40. Then about two months later the floodgates opened and everywhere you looked in dfw you could find a KC SiB that was 13.5-14+ years old. I’ve yet to be disappointed in any of them.

Still haven't found one that compares to the GG pick though.  It's a God among men...
