  1. The shift in labor power that covid caused basically broke the brain of every billionaire businessman. Their sole focus the last few years has been putting labor back in its place, and in their minds that requires immiserating basically every American with a net worth under like $50 million. The ability to buy up assets on the cheap and further consolidate their power is part and parcel to that. Elon is out front taking all the slings and arrows on this, but they're all aligned on the goal. This is why, if we want a functioning American democracy, when we get through this we have to eliminate billionaires via massively confiscatory taxation (and criminal prosecution for any of them that can conceivably be charged with crimes).
  2. Now's the time to push the party and they needed a huge fucking push until basically this week (and many of them still do). There's good reason for a lot of Dem voters to be pissed at the apparent apathy from Dem leadership and many other Dem officials. But there's an additional problem that even when they're getting better the mainstream media basically has a blackout on covering anything they're saying and doing at the moment. A Democratic tea party is needed though and might provide the added benefit of forcing the media to lift their blackout. David Sirota can eat a bag of dicks, though. Fuck that guy.
  3. They're certainly not above it. They just almost certainly can't do it by rigging voting machines, given how decentralized our elections are.
  4. Sepsis rates in Texas are surging:
  5. On that note, has anyone seen fatty around lately?
  6. This is literally how the SS began.
  7. Don't worry, he's also been paid by China, so it balances out, right?
  8. They don't actually mean that either though.
  9. Unless a lot of Republican house reps are willing to switch parties over it, this statement is meaningless.
  10. Don't forget that that murderer was also a pedophile.
  11. No, it did. I'm not saying they gave him absolute power to rule by decree, but they absolutely made him a de facto king. There's plenty of kings throughout history that had to share power with legislatures. The key thing that made someone a king wasn't absolute legal power, it was legal unaccountability. That's what they gave Trump.
  12. They already made him a de facto king last year with their immunity ruling. They're not going to challenge him now, they're going to punt and call all this shit a political question that Congress and the White House need to sort out (knowing Congress won't assert itself).
  13. There we go, that's what it always boils down to. You can't outgrow a childish understanding of the world and can't bear any threats to that understanding, and you'll tear the entire world down in a conniption fit thinking you're maintaining order. What a barren, sunless place your soul must be.
  14. That's an argument over strategy, not goals. Bannon is smart enough to realize that Elon's poor impulse control is hurting them in the long term.
  15. "How dare people want to hold me responsible for the consequences of my actions!?"
  16. Dennison is low-key one of our worst posters.
  17. Maybe he just wants to get the job checking all the girl athletes to make sure they're girls.
  18. You did that yourself.
  19. I still can't get over "I just care about sports and official documentation" as the explanation. Jesus fucking christ. I'd be a lot more sympathetic if it was something like "I was raised in an extremely religious household to hate gay people and then I got a boner once when I saw an attractive trans woman and have not known how to feel about anything since then and am very anxious and angry about everything as a result!" "Trans people are fine but I voted to exterminate them because of a letter on their driver's license" isn't something I ever could've even come up with myself as some fictitious illustration of the banality of evil. If someone else had proposed it as the motivation for a fictional character in a story idea they had I'd have told them it was too stupid and that the motivation must be something deeper. But nope, that's it. And THEY call US npcs.
  20. These are the same guys that love to pose with their gun collection and post tons of videos about how they're always ready to defend themselves and their families from government tyranny when a Democrat proposes universal background checks or waiting periods for gun purchases.
  21. We're already at the point where the only path to redemption for people who voted for Trump because they sincerely didn't think he'd be like this is for them to immediately own up to being colossal dumbasses and be willing to take to the streets when the time comes and physically put themselves between the guns and other protesters. I think we all know TB91 isn't going to ever do that. He's going to cheer on as Trump orders people shot and then when the tide turns against him he'll just go quiet. He'll change usernames and throw his MAGA hat in the trash and pretend he never actually supported Trump. Millions will. Hey, at least he's acknowledging that "they" can be singular.
  22. Had to vote to exterminate trans people (though really all I WANTED was the driver's license thing, I swear!) because Riley Gaines got 5th place instead of 4th place in a race. That's a totally reasonable case for supporting nazis, right?
  23. She's entitled to healthcare because she's a human being you dipshit. You're really not helping your case here.
  24. FIFY. "Hey I got nothing against trans people, I just don't think a trans woman should be able to have a W on her driver's license or be able to get necessary healthcare so I voted for the guys who want to exterminate them. I don't want them to do that though, I just want them to fix the whole driver's license problem." Imagine explaining that in this situation and thinking it's a good justification:
  25. You do see how that makes your vote for a nazi worse, not better, right?
