Oh look, the school shootings troll is mad that someone else got suspended for trolling.

Lol, in a way he was right about how everyone disagreeing with him was making the board worse. Just not really the way he meant it.
  5. It's extremely funny that imma gave Ana a timeout right before this news broke.
  6. Icono is upset. That's good enough for me.
  7. How the fuck do you not know who Walton Goggins is?
  8. Pretty good odds the new Pope has tried Malort.
  9. I mean, we were assured by the board's smartest poster that all this tariff shit was strategic, but I'm just not seeing it.

I think we all know we did a lot of dumb shit when we were younger. We embraced fads that we didn't really like, we tried to hang out with "cool kids" whom we didn't really like, we pretended to like the things our friends liked and pretended to dislike the things they disliked, etc. A huge part of childhood and adolescence is basically "trying on" different experiences to see what you like. And I'm sure now with the growing acceptance of trans people that some kids are "trying on" being trans (and other non-heteronormative experiences) for a little while but aren't really gender dysphoric. It's certainly fine and right for a parent to worry that their kid is going to make a life-altering decision that they'll later regret and can't take back. But the proper way to address those concerns is with appropriate parental, medical, and therapeutic input to ensure that people who do medically transition really want to do so. Not fake science justifying state bans on a treatment that has a tiny regret rate and that when refused leads to countless mental health problems for actually trans kids and teens, many of whom are driven to suicide. And while I certainly empathize with the parents who seriously grapple with these issues, I have zero empathy for those who treat their own children like property and think its their right to force their child to be whoever and whatever they want them to be. If those parents would be less selfish and take their own parental responsibilities more seriously, this wouldn't be a political issue at all.

Seems to me we've got evidence now that the solution to all of this board's problems is simply to ban Ana. ETA: the last few years online and just generally being alive have really shown that maybe the Athenians had it right with the whole exile thing. Some people just can't live in a society.
  12. Master fuckin negotiator at work here.
  13. There’s a type of young person who is raised by conservatives and because they’re young and natural contrarians adopt a leftist affect to rebel against their parents. But if you look at their politics, 99% of it is hating liberals, because they’re actually conservatives who just want to pretend they’re somehow different from their parents. So they’ll say they won’t vote Dem because Biden didn’t cancel student loans (ignoring that even with SCOTUS interference he still cancelled a ton), but the real reason they voted Trump is that they’re conservatives.

Hah, he’s out here just voluntarily dropping “ephebophilia.”
  15. Fuck, at the very least he could explain what's actually different about what he believes today. The grand sum of all he's done to express contrition is basically to say "I'm not that extreme anymore."

  17. Responding "suck my dick" to a Richard Hanania invite isn't running away.
  18. It will never go away. However, we were much better off when they were too scared to attempt to put their deepest desires into political effect. I don't care whether we persuade these people to not be white supremacists or christian nationalists. That kind of persuasion can only be effected on a very small scale, at the personal level. We can't deradicalize a massive cult. But we can scare them back into their mom's basements if we start treating these people like they're all deranged skinhead morons again. Nazis want people to see them as an intellectual force. We should want people to see them as Dewey Crowe.
  19. More often than not, when someone responds online to a post with "lulz no" it's to express disagreement. Re-reading it though, I can see how you were just answering the question.
  20. Burnt, is it seriously your contention that fans of the TLOU games were not all aware that Ellie was gay?
  21. The goal is to put certain ideas into the category of "if you utter these in public everyone will hate you, you will have no friends or job prospects, and people might physically assault you." Nazi shit was in that category between 1941 and 2015. Nobody serious thought it was a good idea to treat their ideas seriously, and anyone who thought it was a good idea to treat their ideas seriously was considered unserious and maybe a nazi. That worked pretty fucking well for a long time and it only stopped working because respected public figures and institutions began treating them and their ideas seriously. We need to get back to treating these people as beneath contempt.
  22. It's getting harder and harder to resolve the tensions between my moral and philosophical support for democracy with my very low opinion of the American electorate.
  23. Mainstream pundits have been engaging with nazis for fucking years now. What has happened to the public perception and status of nazis in that time?
