  1. He's repeatedly implied that he doesn't think anyone should've been punished for 1/6. I don't know why you think he's acting in good faith here.
  2. I want y'all to know that I've always been right about everything. Tulsi Gabbard says she's joining the GOP at Trump rally in North Carolina.
  3. The Nate Cohn article a few days ago about how polls are weighting covered some of this, but this does a better job of explaining the effects of that weighting. Thanks for posting.
  4. Fuck that. That’s one definition of treason and it’s the one that applies in a court of law in the United States. But it also has a common meaning and attempting a violent fucking coup absolutely qualifies under it. He’s a traitor and he deserves a traitor’s death, regardless of whether he can be successfully prosecuted for treason as it’s defined in the constitution.
  5. I know, and Sydney is objectively correct that he's said worse about tons of people. But this one just hit a little different than most.
  6. The line about Guillen's funeral is one of those things where you think nothing the guy could do could possibly shock you and then you realize fuck, you're wrong about that again.
  7. C'mon man... The only thing he sees as "serious" about 1/6 is his serious sadness that it didn't succeed. Roughly 1/4 to 1/3rd of this country is proudly fascist. He's very clearly in that group.
  8. You idiots know you're getting trolled, right? He's openly saying he thinks 1/6 was cool and good and that this guy shouldn't have been punished: This is who he is. Do y'all think you're going to persuade him or something?
  9. Also, it sounds like the Houston rally will focus on abortion and the harm Texas' abortion laws have wreaked on women. That could help both statewide and nationally.
  10. And we just barely avoided a direct war with Iran (that Trump pretty clearly wants to get back to) thanks to... a pandemic breaking out.
  11. Since no Republicans will actually participate in this thread, I'll just speak for them. The extremely obvious real answer that Trump supporters have to this is "so that we never have to have competitive elections again."
  12. First, that's not really accurate. That money was appropriated by Congress and there's no chance in hell you'd get this Congress to strip the funding, given that the GOP controls the House. Second, and more importantly, even if we stopped all support Bibi would still be carrying out his genocide. He's not Biden's puppet and Biden has spent a year trying to rein him in. Not trying hard enough, no, but his failings are in his outdated understanding of Israel and the US/Israel alliance, not in a desire to see Palestinians annihilated. Trump will gleefully encourage Bibi to exterminate every last Palestinian and he'll deport Palestinian-Americans to give Bibi more to slaughter. There's no reasonable argument that Trump won't be an exponentially larger threat to Muslims both here and throughout the world.
  13. I mean, I kind of get it from center-rightish lifelong Republican voters who think they'll get a bunch of policies they like and however awful he makes things for others, well, that's just not something they're going to see themselves. But if you're a Muslim or Latino American? His supporters are putting fucking kill lists together with you and your families on them! You're their first target, even before Jews! Fucking think about that! They hate you even more than they hate Jews. And SCOTUS just effectively gave Trump absolutely immunity (and previously upheld the Muslim ban). How the fuck do you think they're NOT going to be a real threat to you?
  14. No, they don't. Anyone who doesn't think Trump back in office would be a very real and existential danger to Muslim-Americans is not reasonable.
  15. Almost literally the very first thing Trump did when taking office in 2017 was ban Muslims from entering the country. This included Muslim-Americans returning home from visiting relatives in the middle east. And the Supreme Court upheld it. If Muslim-Americans don't think this time he'll do worse to them, I really don't think there's going to be any way to convince them. That's a level of stupid usually reserved for wealthy white people who get afforded infinite opportunities to fuck up.
  16. Well, I think I did manage to convince him once that Harlan Crow might actually be a nazi. The might be the only time he's ever changed his mind.
  17. I like how easily susceptible Rex is to thinking that the like three dipshit Trumpers he pals around with are representative of the vast majority of Americans.
  18. It's fine, I'm sure Merrick Garland will get around to investigating this in a couple of years.
  19. An interesting thing happened over the weekend. The NY Times journalist who has been liveblogging Trump's rallies for them (and who has been rightfully accused of sanewashing Trump's rallies in previous blogs) was covering the rally where Trump talked about how big Arnold Palmer's dick was. His story ignored that and simply said Trump spent the opening "telling Arnold Palmer golf stories." So someone emailed to criticize his reporting, and he responded:
  20. For those of you worrying, if you notice the polls haven't really changed at all for the swing states in the past month. For real polls of different samples with margins of error built in that aren't weighted, that wouldn't happen. You'd see some swings back and forth. They're weighting the polls because they're terrified of missing Trump voters like they did in 2016 and 2020. We have no idea how much they're weighting, but I bet it's pretty substantial. Everyone just thinks it should be about a coinflip race so the pollsters tweak R share of the electorate, predicted turnout in Philly, etc. to get a poll that's almost 50/50. But they've been missing to the right in every race and ballot measure since Dobbs and this new weighting only compounds that error. Does anyone seriously think Trump has any real advantages or has done anything in the last month to help himself? He's way underwater in approval and his VP is even worse. They're trailing in enthusiasm. His campaign has no fucking money or GOTV. Trump is falling apart on the campaign trail. Even their "advantage" with billionaire donors trying to make up for his campaign's cash and GOTV deficiencies is an incompetent clownshow operation that's easy to ratfuck by having Dems sign Elon's petition, etc. They're literally not doing anything right. The open fascism is a desperate attempt to re-energize their base, but it's not working because Trump doesn't have the juice any more and that shit turns off more voters than it brings in. Vote and make sure your friends who aren't Republicans vote and we'll beat these fucking losers, just like they did earlier this year in France and the UK. We can't let the fucking French be better at antifascism than us.
