  1. I don't think the cops have enough riot gear on to safely take down even those mini tents.
  2. The repeated comparison of these protestors to klan members is a real top-tier Johnny Sack move. Good to see you regaining some of your old form.
  3. What is it with the sudden fear of tents?
  4. This is what they brought the riot cops out for? The way you know that this is what the cops really signed up for is that if it wasn't, they'd all be ashamed to be dressed like they're going into fucking Fallujah.
  5. I'm thinking that the guy who says "I'm totally a liberal but I don't see what the hubbub is with people being illegally arrested for exercising their 1st amendment rights is!" may not actually be a liberal.
  6. Its really not a close call, the first amendment was absolutely violated.
  7. Well...she might miss, so it's probably worth it.
  8. You're an extremely weird dude. "I'm a lib and I don't like Israel, but I'm all for cops assaulting and arresting peaceful protests" is a pretty rare take.
  9. Esto. I'm sympathetic to "the next person will be worse" theory, but it's not really true. One of the first rules of dealing with fascists is you don't try to appease them; you don't surrender to them preemptively because you think it will buy you time or room to stand firm on other issues. Fascists succeed much more easily when power is given to them freely, because they actually suck at seizing and wielding it. If Hartzell is replaced by some dipshit obvious fascist, they'll actually be less effective long-run than they would be with a more "moderate" president who is constantly attempting to appease them.
  10. Noem is a genuine psychopath.
  11. I still don't get why some guys are so threatened by tents.
  12. Yes he is. Some of whom Johnny said were good people.
  13. I don't know what degree of support vs opposition there was in the days immediately after, but I'm sure it was mixed and based on plenty of inaccurate information, because that's how things like that work everywhere. I'm sure plenty of Palestinians felt the murder of Israeli civilians was justified, just as many here have since felt that the murder of Palestinian civilians is justified.
  14. Nobody has voted for Hamas since 2006.
  15. I'm sure you wouldn't support the enemies of someone who had bombed and starved your entire family.
  16. Being charitable to him, he thinks cops are basically untrained animals and a smart person should be smart enough to not get bit. Which I don't really disagree with. But he seems to think that's just how police inherently are and thus not something worth getting mad about. But we know it's not just how police inherently are, because we see how they treat people they like (white supremacists). And we see how more civilized police in other countries behave. They're our employees and are supposed to serve us, but they only see us as their enemy, and normal people tend to rightfully get pissed off when they come to that realization. He knows. That's why he voted for him.
  17. Man, if you can't just look at her and understand that they used unnecessary force I don't know what to tell you.
  18. The easy way to tell that none of this is about antisemitism is that we’ve seen thousands of antisemitic public rallies the past 8 years. The cops that show up are never violent with them and can often be seen joking around with Nazis and otherwise being friendly with them. Meanwhile, this is how they treat a philosophy professor at Emory: The only people cops aren’t this violent with are Nazis.
  19. Some posters are really letting their secret aggy out in more ways than one.
