    Texas BBQ

Railhead in FW sells a pound of brisket for $20. Though not recognized as "Craft" bbq, it doesn't carry the craft tariff either and has been my go to for sometime. While I have eaten at most of the DFW Texas Monthly top 50 'cue joints, Charlie Geren's joint consistently does it for moi.
  2. Good on you sir.
  3. FIFY and I was present in 2009 and not sure that it was worse.
  4. Like the ongoing saga of IH-35 (never to be finished before having to be upgraded) this area you mention has become the best area west of FW to acquire the desire to A. move out of state, B. buy a helicopter, C. long for the good old days, which do not exist in your lifetime if you have to drive any major thoroughfare near a large city.
  5. FIFY, but he needs a 12 step program to address this imho. Not AA, but DA, which is appropriate being an Aggie.
  6. Great idea, while you still have both. Mine have both been saved and vastly improved since I made this decision in 1998.
  7. Good doggo Captain. Please look up Callie, Magic, Bailey, and Zeke-you'll never be bored!

  9. Just finished episode 7-episode 8 finale is garbage?
  10. Missed the Campo Verde located in FW. Only went to Arlington location once-hard to replicate the original location.
  11. Not surprised that they took care of her-just wish that we had done that in 2024.
  12. Nice to have one stop shopping however. Downside is multiple connections.
  13. Second the Viking line. Minimum age is 18, none of the headaches you mentioned associated with the floating hotels, and customer service that is unmatched from the beginning to the end. We have done a couple of these and will not consider another line in future trips. Free airfare is a plus as well.
  14. It works if you work it. Early in my journey towards sober living, a member at my home group who I respected highly told me the following: "Len, the good news is you don't ever have to take another drink-the bad news is, drinking is not your problem!" After 27 years without a drink, that statement rings more true than ever in my life. The spiritual kindergarten is my home for whatever issues I think I might have, and there are no shortage of teachers who have helpful suggestions for those issues. Congratulations to you on your one year-the best is yet to come.
  15. They are located on I-20 for a couple of years now.
  16. We have four of these and will have two more within the next 6 years more than likely. Grateful for the pictures, videos, and good times shared with each of them. May your memories and happiness shared with your beautiful girl give you peace and serenity as the days go by.
  17. 1969 was the greatest year in Texas college football imho when the Longhorns and Javelinas were both National Champions. Good times in Austin and Kingsville for a Corpus Christi kid like me.

LOL. One of my four food groups while attending King HS was to walk over to the nearby Roy's BBQ stand (RIP) and get 5 chopped beef sammiches for $1.25. Good old days syndrome brings a smile when I see prices like this at Cooper's.
  19. No doubt a distant relative of the late John Mueller.

Absolutely correct. Have been to the 8th avenue location in FW a few times and decided the drive over to Arlington was a better choice for quality and consistency. Heim has the same issue imho as the Magnolia location is superior to the others, although the westside location is often easier to get served, parking is seldom a problem, and the restaurant has more space.
  21. I’m comforted in the fact that because of the spiritual awakening that happened as a result of working the 12 steps, my relationship with my sister who passed away yesterday was one of love, respect, and affection. While my heart is heavy with her passing, we said our last goodbye here in Fort Worth when she and my brother in law were visiting with a warm hug, kiss, and the words “I love you “. God saw fit to heal our relationship and blessed us both with priceless memories that will sustain me until we meet again in heaven. My extended family here and in my home group will provide the comfort and support I never found in the alcohol. I am forever grateful for the 27 years of sobriety and the equal number of years we became brother and sister again. Please say a prayer for David Pate, my brother in law. He shared 48 years with her and was the best example of a loving husband I had the pleasure of watching. And one more thing-take the time to speak a kind and encouraging word to your family members and friends. Live each day as if it were your last and do your best to have no regrets-that is where I find myself at this hour, filled with gratitude and looking forward to the 7am meeting I will be attending. Peace.
  22. Anytime any of you find yourself in Fort Worth, please consider visiting the Harbor Club. The 7am meeting gets my day started in the right frame of mind and has been a vital part of my recovery journey. I'll buy the coffee when you get here.
  23. On 4/28/98 I took my last drink somewhere around 3 am. On that same day, I picked up my third desire chip at a noon meeting, got a sponsor, worked the steps in three months, had a spiritual awakening, and have not had another drink of alcohol since. At age 72, I am forever grateful to the members here and at my home group, the Harbor Club in Fort Worth, for showing me a design for living that has exceeded every result I had hoped for in life. Thanks be to the God of my understanding for these blessings and for those who have been so encouraging throughout this journey.
  24. Never fail to go to Storm's during dove season. Your picture has me headed that way before the season starts.
