  1. Guy Ritchie is a favorite of mine and this one kept me entertained.
  2. 4/28/98-I stood at the turning point, asked His protection and care with complete abandon, and began working the steps with a sponsor that have given me a life I never could have imagined. There are no coincidences-I chaired the 7am meeting on 4/28/23 at Harbor, we had a newcomer, and the topic I always choose is what it was like, what happened, and what it's like now. Haven't seen him since but hope he is going to meetings somewhere.
  3. El Paseo does good work and I have taken friends there who raved about the food. Catnip enchiladas. . . .hmmmmmm
  4. If you tool over to 3001 W. 5th in FW, let me know. Still owe you a cup of our best 90 weight coffee and some good conversation prior to the 7am meeting.
  5. I worked on the Northside for 21 years and only went there once, which was enough to convince me that El Asadero, Los Paisanos, El Rancho Grande (now the Original) were better authentic options and were less than a mile from my office.
  6. Beat me to it. Great days (or so I thought) back when Caro's was next door and Johnny Day Whitten would deliver puffy tacos to the Oui and you could multi task with dinner and drink-gone. Epic fail.
  7. Closest HEB from our home is 4.3 miles in Johnson County. Would love to have one practically in our backyard and give the finger to Neighborhood Wall Mart, Albertson's, Super Target, Kroger, etc. Miss the days growing up in Corpus where there was an HEB every three miles.
  8. Late 80's through the 90's before all of the designer 'cue joints arrived, it held it's own.
  9. And Smokey's on East Lancaster-used to take a turkey there before thanksgiving every year and get it smoked for .35 a pound.
  10. Thank you for this announcement. I have driven by more times than I can count wondering if the day would ever come when they were open again. Missing the enchiladas mucho. Gonna take home some yardbird the next time I go in there as well, but Drew's is my favorite choice.
  11. Mexican Inn on 8th is the tits-Camp Bowie location sucks. Love me some Mexico Real. Bluebird won't be the same without Robert Ely and never went to the defunct Helen's. Wouldn't be the Showdown if it was anything but a shit show. Missing the late Peter Plenk who was a friend.
  12. Good doggo Sandi. Sorry for your loss-they steal our hearts and leave us wanting more.
  13. Spent the afternoon watching both episodes of Bill Russell:Legend and highly recommend it. Having grown up watching the Russell/Chamberlain rivalry, it was really well done blending historical footage/commentary of their games, interviews with stars from the 60's through today, and a remarkable telling of Russell's life off the court using his voice to address whatever he thought was right.

Haven't had zavala or brix but do love Panther City, especially the ribs.

Haven't been to 8th avenue and likely won't bother based on your review. Arlington location has been solid every visit.
  16. Agree. Took a friend of ours to celebrate her PhD and this place has it going on. Atmosphere, 5* service, and a true interior Mexican menu that has options that keep me going back regularly.
  17. Binged season 1 of Truth Be Told on Apple+. Aaron Paul and Octavia Spencer are seriously outstanding as is the supporting cast.
  18. The ramp is a pain but the real problem is sitting on the bridge on BI where two turn lanes exist. After turning left there is always some a$$hole in the right lane who cuts over in front of the left lane that is merging causing a back up or worse, a wreck. And having to yield on the ramp entering westbound I-20 when the lane is jammed up is truly one of the most remarkable failed engineering feats in TXDOT history.
  19. Says all you need to say without saying a word. Doggos are the best.
  20. Went to see two Oscar nominated shows in the last two weeks: The Whale-Brendan Gleeson is likely to win Best Actor, but JEBUS, this was a hard watch. The special effects used to make him look 600 lbs will probably take an Oscar too. The Banshees of Inisherin-Collin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson are great, but supporting actor nominee Barry Keoghan was OUTSTANDING and should win a statue imho.
  21. I agree, but the chocolate pie with warm filling is simply too hard to resist. God I hope this FW gem never goes away like so many have.

Top three imho: 1. Goldee's-definitely deserved the #1 ranking in Tx Monthly, but prepare to stand in LONG lines if you arrive after 8am. Brisket beyond compare. 2. Panthercity Barbecue-now has a building and outstanding in brisket, ribs, sausage. 3. Hurtado-recently opened on 8th avenue in FW, but have only been to Arlington location on Division. Honorable mention: Heim on White Settlement-better service, parking, and overall quality of product than their Magnolia location.
  23. Also one on East Berry which became a barbecue sammich place years ago.
  24. Welcome. There is a solution to your drinking problem and a number of us that will help you going forward. Glad you are here and look forward to seeing what happens in your life in 2023.
  25. WHY? It's only been 83 years!!😜
