  1. ISWYDT-and I endorse this message fully.😄
  2. The 74th Texas State AA Convention concluded yesterday here in Cowtown and it was truly a spiritual experience. One of the most enjoyable moments was when my wife and I got to meet two sisters from Atlanta, Georgia. Their mother has been sober for a number of years and tried to share the message with them but they were not ready. However, she was determined that her girls needed help and reached out to a member of our group here in Ft. Worth who she once dated. He was able to encourage one of the girls to attend a zoom meeting of our group and soon she was joined by her sister. Neither one of them had ever attended an in person meeting until last Friday, when they came to our 7am meeting and were mobbed by the crowd that had shown up after the meeting restrictions were lifted. We got to be their tour guides on Saturday and had lunch with 15 members on the Northside at a famous Mexican restaurant. God used Zoom technology to connect these women with us and the life they both now lead is based in recovery and helping others. Looking forward to the meetings in Austin next year and hearing about other miracles such as this one.
  3. Wise County-biggest misnomer in the entire State.
  4. The Sparkling City by The Sewer continues to never disappoint. If it wasn't for HS reunions, I would never return to the town I where I grew up.
  5. Saw that yesterday on the way to breakfast at Righteous Foods. More housing/apartments coming here?
  6. On the fence about this. There is a reason you are assigned a boarding number yet lately some asshole thinks they are not required to follow the procedure and gets upset when they are told they have to WAIT THEIR TURN!!!!🤬. Not the airline's fault for having to deal with morons.
  7. Curiosity killed the cat and it is a shame that it died. Had a similar experience where my dog got through a weak spot in the fence and chewed up a neighbor's dog which had to be euthanized. I paid for the vet but felt like hell for a week after. Neighbor and I both paid half to rebuild the weak fence and got along fine afterward.
  8. Blind squirrel/acorn theory applies universally and this is proof.😁
  9. Well, since Luby's and the LuAnn option is off the table, Grace or Reata would be my suggestions.
  10. Cinemark Rave theater has been a regular destination for us for over ten years. Their movie watcher rewards beat all others and have been to four movies since they reopened after the pandemic. Walked the mall in March and remembered when I worked at Neiman Marcus in '91-sad panda.
  11. True, but not alone here on Surly.😈
  12. Crunchy ham sandwiches-two slices of sourdough bread, three slices of canned ham, sweet pickle relish, hand full of ruffles, slathered in Kraft real mayonaise on both slices of bread. Many a night spent with buddies growing up eating these superb offerings while watching the late night horror flicks in black and white in the 60's.
  13. Is training cats as easy as herding them? Inquiring minds want to know???
  14. Good boy Zeus. Say hello to Bailey, Zeke, Callie, Magic, and the rest of those canine kids we have had the pleasure of sharing our lives with. Bless your heart Beau for being the forever human Zeus was destined to share his life with.
  15. He and Alan Arkin are the main reason to watch Argo. One liners abound.
  16. May the best memories of times shared with your sweet mother comfort you in this time of loss. I'm sure she was a character because she raised a son with character. Peace my brother.
  17. Another good Mexican restaurant moves from Sylvania Avenue. Has worked well for Enchiladas Ole (and for those of us who can now find a parking space), hopefully will work out for Mariachi's. They were actually located in a gas station on S. Sylvania just south of 4th street and their barbacoa tacos are some of the best I have found in Cowtown.
  18. Carshon's is the answer. And the chocolate pie with warm filling and sweet meringue is the best dessert in Cowtown imho. Cash only and limited seating at last glance.
  19. Well that made my day. Gonna have to go check it out and order the Roosevelt-it's been a while and ready to revisit.
  20. At the end of May we're celebrating our anniversary in Galveston where we married and bringing our two canine kids . It will be the first time traveling with them but they are so chill and ride easily in the crate. Looking forward to seeing their reactions when we reach the beach.
  21. God I miss the chips and salsa at El Rancho Grande.
  22. Sending hope to you and your sweet Prince. Just a few more memories, moments, and hugs for you both to share together.
  23. This. It's been going on long before Josh Duggar became the umpteenth Duggar child born to the baby factory with his family name. Here is a link to a site that is covered in examples of blatant hypocrisy put together by a survivor of sexual abuse at the hands of her minister: http://www.stopbaptistpredators.org/index.htm
