  1. They do good work and have gone there on Tuesday as well when PC is closed.
  2. Prima Pasta at Granbury Road and Hulen has a large dining area that can handle a party of 10+, but it is BYOB. Los Vaqueros on the N. Main in the Stockyards has great Mexican food. Panther City barbecue on E. Hattie street is a top 10 choice in Texas Monthly with a good bar. No Frills Grill on South I-35 has a good bar and burger selection. All of these places are within 10 miles of Forest Hill.
  3. The Zone of Interest-an interesting adaptation of what it must have been like to live next door to one of the deadliest Holocaust camps during WWII. The film has won numerous awards which are well deserved and is up for several Oscars in the coming weeks.
  4. 55+16=71. And please remind this old man where you came up with the idea/opinion that I hate new things. Old but living young buck and you have a good day sir.
  5. Went there tonight after the movie and had a supreme burrito with barbacoa. Wife ordered the three taco combo. While the burrito was loaded, I found it rather bland, even after putting both red and green salsa on it. The tacos she had looked like something from Joe T. Garcia-small and tasteless. I am probably spoiled from working on the northside for 21 years and the bar was set pretty high by a number of places, but Papi's didn't impress.

Geren and Pilcher have held the line on price by doing just this and their beer sales are consistently strong as well. Those prices are current as of yesterday and as much as I love Panthercity, Hurtado's, Goldee's, etc., I arrived at 11:30 just as a whole brisket was being sliced and enjoyed paying for 1/2 lb of brisket and 1/2 lb of ribs for under $20. It takes someone with skills I don't have to tell the difference between prime and choice brisket, but the 1 2 lb of brisket I had was as good as those sold at the craft stores for twice the price.
  7. I met the author of the book, Jim Dent, at Barnes & Noble and got an autographed copy. The movie was enjoyable, the book was outstanding-hopefully Dent will get past his struggles and health issues because he is an excellent writer.
  8. Good doggo Avery. And blessings on you and your family Reynolds Woodcock in this difficult time. That picture of Avery and your son had me reaching for the Kleenex.
  9. I used him for several years for our cars and agree with you.
  10. Silly sip-that's a former stoodent who was simply showing his loyulty to the turditions of the corpse.
  11. Marvin Zindler has risen from the dead to once again become the scourge of chicken ranches. Too bad "Big Jim" Flournoy wasn't around to whip his a$$.
  12. What every player on the Lions thought yesterday of their corch
  13. Agree. I felt it was a little slow developing at first, but by the end, was glad we went to see it.

That brisket has a nice smoke ring and everything else looks delicious too.
  15. Had breakfast there at Daybreak Cafe Thursday morning and they were still there. Must have been later that day or yesterday.
  16. Absolutely nailed it in this review. The best thing about this waste of time was the fact that it was seen on the first showing of the day which means it only cost the bargain matinee price. The popcorn was fresh too.
  17. Such an amazing place to find enchiladas that were consistently satisfying. If Texas Monthly put out a Top 50 of the best cheese enchilada restaurants, Dart Bowl would have consistently been in the top 5.

Burnt Bean was part of our BBQ run in 2023 and made it worth the drive to Seguin. Congrats to these two outstanding chefs and their wonderful restaurant.
  19. Thanks for making the drive over from Dallas. The Harbor Group 7am here in FW has been my daily start now for 25+ years and meeting you in person after meeting you here makes it even more enjoyable. Keep up the good work down in the Golden Triangle one day at a time.
  20. I'll see you there! Congratulations on your latest miracle.
  21. There's a comment on there with someone saying they talked to the Daybreak owner who blamed it on a neighbor. I hope this is not true as I am a frequent customer of both of these places.
  22. Word on the street is that the person who swept the sheets each week died and the grieving owner sold it.
  23. Absolutely agree with this. I like to buy the chicken, then buy the two containers of chicken tortilla soup. Pour the soup into the large pot, add the chopped up rotisserie chicken, and then have several great meals afterward. This was the number one choice early this week when the temps were in single digits.
  24. Just returned from Panthercity BBQ where there was no line when we walked in at 11:30am and never had more than 10 people in it while we were eating. Took two friends who had never been there and they were very satisfied with the brisket, ribs, sausage, and brisket smashburger. Going back this afternoon for a second round with some folks and then to the rodeo. The $18 hamburgers at Dickies are worse than day old quarter pounders from Mickey D's and the barbecue brisket burger at Panthercity will be my choice.
