  1. The best I ever had. Pete Townshend And happy to sign on with all of the proceeds I have gained by doing the opposite of what is suggested in the Stonks thread.

    UNC vs FSU

Exactly what I was thinking. Major put it right in their hands and they failed to make the catch. Coaches reputations often are defined by such unfortunately.
  3. Former Longhorns Buechele & Naggar are 5-0 after the OT win against Tulane.
  4. I had a euphoric recall moment this morning while doing my daily reading and prayers. As a child growing up with an untreated alcoholic father, I used to go with him to the package store a couple of blocks from our home. It was a little walk in store with counters on both sides and bottles that lined the wall behind them. The owner would just reach up and get my father a fifth of Old Charter when he walked through the door, and would give me a peppermint stick. The thing I remember most was the smell of that store-not a bad one, but unique that I have not encountered since. There was something similar at the store I used to frequent here in FW, but not the same. Then I remembered some of the results of my father consuming his purchase and later, when I did so. I thanked God that today if required to go into a package store, it is for a good purpose, one that does not include my needing to buy something to get me through the day or change the way I feel.
  5. Corpus Christi was the birthplace of Whataburger, but these two places that I grew up going to back in the 50's & 60's still get it right. And their shakes are not to be missed either: https://www.snapkas.com/ https://www.hamlinfg.com/soda-fountain
  6. T'was indeed. Ended up at Zeke's on Camp Bowie. Old reliable that consistently takes care of business.
  7. They are gonna need it. Went there tonight at 7:45, ordered an appetizer, got it, then never saw our server again for 20 MINUTES!!!. Walked to the front register and told the manager I wanted to pay for the appetizer and drinks and then go get served elsewhere. On top of that, the crab fries we had were cold and tasteless. From what I saw at other tables, nothing appeared to be telling me I need to come back in a month and give it another shot.
  8. Agree. But so does Jerry & the Dead: I need a woman bout twice my age A lady of nobility, gentility and rage Splendor in the dark, lightning on the draw Well go right through the book and break each and every law. I got a feeling and it wont go away, oh no Just one thing then Ill be ok I need a miracle every day. I need a woman bout twice my height Statuesque, raven-dressed, a goddess of the night. Her secret incantations, a candle burning blue Well consult the spirits maybe theyll know what to do. And its real and it wont go away, oh no I can't get around and I can't run away I need a miracle every day. I need a woman bout twice my weight A ton of fun who packs a gun with all her freight Find her in a sideshow leave her in L. A. Ride her like a surfer running on a tidal wave. And its real, believe what I say, yeah Just one thing I got to say I need a miracle every day. It takes dynamite to get me up Too much of everything is just enough One more thing I just got to say I need a miracle every day,
  9. Sweet Jeebus!! Does Karma have the ability to kick us in deez nuts?
  10. You're on the right path here. It wasn't until I took my third desire chip and realized what that statement meant in it's entirety that I began acting on the suggestions of those who spoke these words and had what I wanted. I have found that staying in touch here and checking in is an action that is positive which can offset some of the negative things that are sure to happen in life. Keep it up, keep coming back, and keep in touch.
  11. Another of the old bar bars bites the dust. Was on the white trash pub crawl from back in the mid 80's through 98 when I quit drinking. RIP VIP!
  12. I sympathize with you in having to say goodbye to your sweet girl. Sorry for your loss.
  13. Mack FINALLY let Vince be Vince-what would happen if Herman let Sam be Sam when making game deciding decisions? Guess we'll never know.
  14. Thanks. When we were driving home from getting him, my wife asked what we should call him. At that moment, we were driving down Camp Bowie boulevard and passing one of my favorite restaurants, Zeke's fish & chips. Divine inspiration I'd say!
  15. He represents what a leader and warrior embodies in every respect. Though his last game in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas was a loss, he honored his University the state he has represented there every year by standing proudly for "The Eyes". I am saddened to see that he was the only player who chose to do this, because the statement the rest of the country and the world will take from this is shameful.
  16. Glad to remember you and the wife tonight my friend. Please continue in the road to happy destiny and know that sometimes painful detours occur there. Our fellowship is a good place to find peace in this painful time. My sponsor tells me frequently to lean in to the pain, embrace it, and listen for the lesson that is there. Let me know if I can help you.
  17. I am grateful to be sober today knowing that life on life's terms even when your heart is aching is better than being drunk. I just posted a picture in the my dog is awesome thread of my dog, Zeke, who we will have to day goodbye to today at 2:30. The next right thing sometimes hurts but it is with a clear conscience thanks to AA that both my wife and I have come to this decision and will face that moment together as we have with our previous pets. So many sober friends have already reached out and offered love and support to both of us which lets us know we are not alone in this time of impending loss. I find myself very melancholy going from the sadness of no longer seeing my buddy to joy in knowing he will be free to be the dog he was when he was first brought into our home. I cooked steaks last night and he had his fill as always. He let me know that it is OK to let him go so with a heavy heart we are sending him to be reunited with his big brother Bailey. It's a good day to be sober and feel these feelings instead of numbing them with alcohol-my boy Zeke never saw me drunk.
  18. We got Zeke as a newborn back in 2007. When we brought him home and put him on the wood floor, he (10lbs) ran right over to his new big brother Bailey (45lbs) and bit him on the nose. Thus began the amazing Butch and Sundance saga of these two. Bailey crossed the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago and today at 2:30 will be reunited with his running buddy. There is no deeper ache in the heart than when you have to be responsible and relieve your best friend of their suffering. We have experienced this now four times in our 35 years together and will once again remember each canine kid who brought such joy to our daily lives. Good boy Zeke-I'll see you on the other side along with Callie, Magic, and of course, Bailey.
  19. He has moved from the sideline to the classroom at UW in the business school From the Wall Street Journal: "This fall, Petersen will be at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, installed as the Fritzky Chair of Leadership and as an adjunct professor. The Foster B-School intends to open in late September with a combination of on-campus and virtual learning, and Petersen’s task will be to advise and mentor students, staff and faculty in the management approaches that made him one of the most successful college coaches of his generation."

Proof once again that Klatt still suffers from PTSD from the Kelso hit in the Big 12 championship game of 2005.
