  1. I'm a prodigal son. This description is the one I would say I relate to most and my answer to those who would judge my anger, hurt, mistrust, etc., towards the God of my understanding need to get a bigger God. I have come to believe that grace given is the path to grace received and try to live that way. Pretty sure the Creator knows His creation is imperfect and doesn't expect us to live up to the unrealistic expectations often placed on us by various groups. A daily routine of reading spiritual literature, meditating, and praying has served me well in my return to the almighty as it has those I am closest to. I am comforted in knowing that my future days are likely to be more serene if I continue the journey in this way, just as the opposite is also true.
  2. Once or twice when we lived in Berkeley. Friendly family owns it but it was hit or miss on the quality. George's has for years been my favorite Greek restaurant.
  3. Opted for Enchiladas Ole on the patio this evening. The Vaquero is my go to and once again it smashed and went hard. Nice breeze and zero humidity in August definitely makes eating outside a good option. Parking lot was packed but we were seated immediately and were served within 15 minutes (got there at 6:10pm).
  4. I haven't had a Roosevelt Special in a while and now am curious about these puffy tacos. Gonna have to check it out.
  5. When the last of my Kingsford is gone, I am going to give this a try. Glad to know what reviews are saying are true based on your input.
  6. No tears for Buffalo West-wife had her company Christmas party there a couple of years and it was meh.
  7. The former Cactus Flower restaurant occupied the space in the early 2000's where the Austin Street taco $19 breakfast is served. Sure miss the breakfast they used to serve for under $6-kinda like the Paris Coffee shop on Magnolia or Olde Neighborhood Grill. Reviews from friends made this taco joint a no for me.
  8. Flores and Panther City have my vote for best in Cowtown. Agree with the sad since we are close to Clearfork and that was a weekly given
  9. That drive on 18 was MAMMOTH!
  10. Congratulations on two months. As an HR manager, I am pleased that you receive benefits. I have found that the saying there are no coincidences applies to every good thing that has happened in my life since becoming a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
  11. Those ain't fireworks on the Northside-firearms more likely!!
  12. Jim Schusler had a good run with the Hideaway, Blues Bar, and Oyster Bar. The Hideaway and Blues Bar were always part of the annual White Trash Pub Crawl that began at the Hi Hat in the mid 80's.

    Beef Prices

Had the grilled steak sandwich last week for lunch. Am going to be going back for other choices as this one was top shelf.
  14. Good times back in the day when Johnny Day Whitten was running Caro's. One stop shopping while getting your drink on at the Oui and having him bring you an order of puffy tacos to eat at the bar.
  15. Back in the 90's I heard Joe Ely sing this at Caravan of Dreams multiple times-always greatness. Jason does a good turn here as well.
  16. Endorsed by moi and cardiac doctors throughout the state!
  17. Congratulations on your two years. Stay with it-the miracles yet to come are well worth it, to say nothing of the feeling of peace and serenity you will experience as each day without alcohol passes.
  18. Their Northside location has been a go to for 21 years now. The owner and I lived on the same street in Berkeley and played poker every Tuesday. His brother in law used to manage the Willow Park location until he had a stroke.
  19. 22 years yesterday, 21 years at the same job on Sunday. Coincidence, we think not.
  20. Ray C., Jerry T. and Sam were all role models.
  21. Does he go the The Gift in Irving? Several members there were influential in my staying sober early on and I have always been grateful.
  22. Just finished telling my story online for the first time. There were 68 people who joined and I was grateful to tell what God has continued to do for me that I could not do for myself. The app on my phone tells me I have not had a drink in 7999 days-think I'll keep coming back, it works!
  23. Went in there yesterday, the dude behind the butcher counter said a few people have inquired about buying it but they need to completely redo the butcher/deli/kitchen which won't be cheap. My mother in law lived around the corner from this grocery in the 80's and they would deliver to her home. Always appreciated the wonderful customer service provided by this FW classic.
