  1. Thanks for this link. My 7am home group has been doing online meetings since Monday. Our connection to each other and the solution continues to be a bright spot in my life. When I consider how many lives have been lost or destroyed by alcohol, this current virus pales in comparison. God bless each of you as this too shall pass.
  2. What a waste.https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/02/27/tcu-football-trevone-boykin-sentenced-to-three-years-in-prison/
  3. Did an ATV tour at Red Rocks NP and highly recommend spending the day there. Drove from Grand Junction to Zion last summer and would spend a couple of days there next time.
  4. PSA-Andy's frozen custard opened on Wednesday in SW Ft. Worth, 5328 McPherson. Triple chocolate concrete futures are a buy I predict. Still will frequent Curly's on Camp Bowie, but will be on a first name basis with the employees at this location in my backyard.
  5. Well, all things considered with the "c"word being used quite extensively, we were both entertained and laughed heartily at this movie. Saw a few leave early but I suspect it might have been their first time to see a Guy Richie movie and not appreciate the story without being offended by the cockney dialogue. I was most impressed with Hugh Grant's performance not having seen him in anything in several years. All in all, Guy Richie is still one of my favorite directors and this effort was worth the price of admission. Like Snatch, I will likely watch it regularly when it hits cable.
  6. Got that feeling early on as well.
  7. Well, that should make the wife happy.
  8. Guess that coupon will expire before they reopen, huh?
  9. Vive la résistance! and fvck Tim Love and his Food Network prices.
  10. Having lived in a small town for a year (Nocona) I can honestly say that moving there permanently would be equal to going to Greenwood Cemetery and requesting an eternal reservation.
  11. I'm with Troy Aikman-the old grey wolf will be missed. Having listened to Dallas rock stations KZEW and KTXQ, the names Rhyner and Redbeard were synonymous with greatness. When KTCK became a reality, no one could have ever guessed that 25 years later, it would rule the ratings in DFW drive or have a nationwide following thanks to streaming. There will never be another Mike Rhyner and I will miss his input with the Hardline during afternoon drive.
  12. Saw it opening night at the Granada in Dallas. It was during a massive thunderstorm which added to the sense of evil being depicted on the screen. I saw a lady run screaming out of the theatre when Ragan's head turned around while in bed only to return fifteen minutes later wearing a different outfit. One of the few times I can remember actually having a nightmare after seeing a movie-this one had me up several nights in a row.
  13. 74 people this morning at the 7am at Harbor. We discussed something from As Bill Sees It regarding our self imposed prison. It was an open meeting and one of my friends brought his wife and two year old daughter. I watched as she drank from her bottle and smiled throughout the whole meeting, never making a sound. I shared that I too used to suck on a bottle in the morning to get the same happiness she was getting, or so I thought. It was a reminder that God has taken me from my self imposed prison fueled by daily drinking and given me the keys to the kingdom which is a life now worth living without alcohol, full of wonder, gratitude, and serenity. We served breakfast after the meeting and I thanked every member present for showing me the answer I could have never found without them. I wish for each of you here who is on this journey to a new life the best the day has to offer. May love and peace rule the day and your hearts be blessed.
  14. The one on the left already did-she gots thunder thighs which probably are supported by cankles, but picture doesn't show. And Fuck OU x infinity.
  15. Took my last drink there 21 years ago. Always loved the classic bar bar, Showdown, VIP, Oui, Hi Hat, HOP, etc.
  16. Going to see it tonight. Ruffalo as Brockovich should be entertaining.
  17. Went to the 7am at Harbor this morning where a host of friends (52} welcomed me as they do every morning. Watched as a newcomer picked up his first 30 day chip and listened as he shared about spending this Thanksgiving sober for the first time in his life. Reflected on all of the men who have gone before me to the big meeting in heaven and what an impact each one of them had in my sober life. Watched and listened as each person called on to share expressed gratitude for what the program has brought them. Was reminded that each day of sobriety is a day of Thanksgiving. Will be reaching out to all family members scattered throughout the country later today to tell them how much I appreciate and love them-and thanks to the program, they will return the favor. Since April 28, 1998, this miracle has been repeating itself, and it never ceases to amaze me how grateful I am today for the life I now have thanks to AA. May each one of you have a day full of joy, happiness, and serenity.
  18. While not actually a Thanksgiving prayer, Chris Cooper brings the laughter in this scene. The family dysfunction is something I'm sure most of us here on Surly can relate to and the looks on the faces might likewise remind of someone in your tribe. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you wonderful misfits.
  19. My bad. Those brain cells killed at the Oui must have blurred my vision, to say nothing of killing the brain cells which housed memory.
  20. It was Cliff & Andi's. Andi and her partner are friends of mine. She now manages Chuy's on 7th street.
  21. Looked like a Benny Hill show on the field nearly all season so would have been appropriate.
  22. Had the same feeling walking out. Cheesy dialogue throughout made it more like a B-grade soap opera than an action thriller WWII movie.
  23. Been there-solid pizza, fettucine alfredo, but the best damn tiramisu in DFW imho. Still prefer Campisi's but not a bad change of pace.
