  1. That would be Ancient Ovens up in St. Jo in Montague county. Went there a couple of years ago and enjoyed a great meal. This is a reservations only location so be sure and make arrangements before driving up there. http://www.ancientovens.com/
  2. I hope it missed you. Other than thunder and a slight rain, no hail. Thanks.

    Dan Jenkins RIP

I met him at a funeral several years ago where he was sharing experiences he and his friend had enjoyed. He and the deceased graduated from Paschal together and he related their graduation present-a 30 day excursion to Europe. Of particular interest was his tale of two nights in Paris. I'm sure that Bob Sweeney (Sweeney Lumber owner) and Dan Jenkins are now reunited and that story will get better every time it will be retold in eternity. RIP sir.
  4. Well that's great. Just got a new roof that was finished yesterday.
  5. So let me see if I get this-the Rock gave a rock to his wife while listening to rock, she died while fried on the inside, and he is now going to be somebody's boy toy in the slammer? Definitely not how I wanna go out.
  6. It was a good news, bad news day for me and the missus. Good news-our nephew was in town from DC and went to a meeting this morning with us to pick up his 30 day chip. He shared from the heart and many of us who have lived without alcohol for several years were reminded of our first 30 days. The bad news, he is here to see his mom come home from the hospital for hospice. And she died this afternoon. He called and we are going to hit up several meetings this next few days.
  7. Brother Mumford did have a great bar and the bar grub there was some of the best I have ever had. Rick's and JJ's Hideaway were in my rotation with regularity in the mid 80's.
  8. I have only known of the one location on cherry Only one left but there were several back in the 70's-80's. The one on McCart is now a washateria. Used to have a pool hall called Stick Billards in that center and Parton's was next door.
  9. Partons pizza is always good... Used to eat at the Seminary/McCart location back in the 70's and knew the owner/founder. Good pies and great buffet.
  10. You are correct sir! One of many old westside dive bar bars-nothing fancy, but the smell of perfume, piss, and pestilence hit you the minute you walked in.
  11. I believe Martina has a valid argument. CSB-I was working for my brother in law (agent for Allied van lines) back in the early 90's when Martina and Judy Nelson, her then partner, decided to move from their Indian Creek condo to Aspen. Watching the parade of celebrities (Nancy Lieberman, Van Cliburn, etc.) who were present from day to day during that move was amazing. Seeing the Grand Slam trophies packed and put on the moving van was likewise amazing. Martina was very generous to everyone who worked on that five day pack and move, tipping between $50-$100 DAILY.
  12. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_iron_orchard Here is an enigma-check out the critics ratings vs the audience. All of the critics sound like arrogant douche bags trying to impress each other with why this isn't worthy to be viewed. Glad I don't always listen to the critics, especially since my father was working for Standard Oil during this time as a floor hand. Going to see it and let the critics eat Bevo cakes.
  13. "Every coach likes those players who, like trained pigs, will grin and jump right in the slop.” "Only angry people win football games.” You just know somewhere up in Longhorn heaven, DKR is smiling at Braun choosing Texas. Likely would have been a good fit on some of his teams because of his run blocking ability.
  14. Parking in the back before 5:30pm on Friday was a breeze. Ole has the best queso with beef I have ever eaten. Small bowl with the Texican enchiladas make this my favorite Mexican restaurant in Cowtown
  15. No disrespect intended as I have a number of friends who are LDS memebers and as you say, are very ethical. Wonder if Mike formed a band in 1985?
  16. And are the lowest waste of human form.
  17. This cult practiced polygamy in the 1800's and some of the more radical groups still do so today. This group is the picture you would see in Webster's dictionary under the term dysfunctional family. A dysfunctional family is a family in which conflict, misbehavior, and often child neglect or abuse on the part of individual parents occur continuously and regularly, leading other members to accommodate such actions. As to the documentary, the only redeeming value I derived from watching is a confirmation of my belief that sex abuse and codependency tends to victimize families and the organized religions that ignore/endorse it are worthy of the lowest level of hell in Dante's inferno.
  18. CSB-I first met Jennifer while working at Caravan of Dreams back in 1994. Was glad to see her again when Grace opened.
  19. http://southparkstudios.mtvnimages.com/shared/characters/kids/timmy-burch.png TIMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
  20. Jeckyl Island, Charleston, Santa Fe are the three I endorse.
  21. Went to Panther City BBQ yesterday after reading the recommendations here. SWEET JEEEEBUS the ribs are my most favorite item as the sweet sauce and coarse pepper coating on that juicy pork that pulled easily off the bone just can't be beat. The brisket was moist with a good fat cap but could have used a little more smoke flavor, jalapeno cheese sausage was worthy of a second helping, and the burnt ends were like crack-couldn't get enough. Got there at 11:35 and by 11:45, they had sold out of burnt ends and brisket-early is a must on Friday.
  22. Relatives of Bill Brasky I bet.http://img.nbc.com/sites/nbcunbc/files/files/images/2015/3/13/140228_2749790_Brasky_s_Buddies_at_the_Bar_anvver_3.jpg
  23. Might be GOAT. Certainly in the top 3.
  24. Original Dublin Dr. Pepper And daaaaaaayum, this thread has me reaching for my cardiologist's number on one hand while googling the options being thrown out here with the other. Good stuff men.
  25. Nada on this operation but that location has never been able to sustain any previous tenants. Hope his product is strong enough to build a following-it is close enough to where the wife works at Harris to promise some lunch dates. Also, here is a link to another barbecue operation that will be coming to Cowtown after closing in Whitney: https://floresbbq.com/
