  1. http://www.star-telegram.com/news/local/community/fort-worth/article217923230.html I was headed north on Main today at 11:25am right after this happened. Copters flying overhead, ambulances, fire trucks, and massive police presence. I parked and walked down Exchange to the scene-it was hard to see the destruction and the loss of a life caused by the idiot driver. His life is about to change and not for good.
  2. Kingsley does a magnificent job portraying this bastard. While the storyline sometimes jumps around a little too much with flashbacks, overall it was well acted by the other cast members as well. I remember writing a paper on Eichmann in the 10th grade for world history and being amazed at how he was brought to justice-this movie does a good job of bringing this point home.
  3. You mean that 30-0 first quarter in the hotter than hell upper deck game? My buddy and I went to a meeting at halftime and laughed when we saw the final.
  4. USC tickets will be available again?
  5. Well, glad I'm sober after watching that trainwreck against Maryland today. Just polished off some grilled burgers, fries, and a cold Dr. Pepper while watching more CFB. The only hangover I will have tomorrow is the one from watching the Turtles wreak havoc on the Longhorns while we did our share of helping them to a win.
  6. Prayers for your mom's comfort, your peace of mind, and serenity to deal with some of life's harshest moments like those you mention. To have three relationships in one's life change so drastically is almost unthinkable and emotionally draining I'm sure. Hang in there.

    Justified

Binge worthy-except for the Maryland game, this has priority for the three day weekend.
  8. Ship Ahoy, Nolan's Bar B Que, Roy's Bar B Que, Floyd's, Picks, The Torch, Manhattan Steakhouse-all in Corpus Christi. The original Whataburger opened on my birthday two years before I was born and is no longer standing. We lived two blocks from that location and knew Harmon Dobson.
  9. Great photos of a pair of winners. Dobbs has Mondays pegged for sure.
  10. Can't remember the bar but I think your are referring to the old Downtown Motor Inn.
  11. Going to see my son in Cali Thursday. His 35th birthday is Saturday and it will be the first one I have spent celebrating with him since he was two. Drank my way out of the marriage & chose booze over being present in his life until he turned 16, found the amends letter I wrote my wife, and made contact with me. Grateful that this design for living has allowed us to reconnect on a level that neither of us could have imagined. He is in day five of his journey and I am asking for God's best in his return to the program. We will be going to meetings this weekend together-one of the many gifts this program has given me and one more reason to stay sober.
  12. Sorry for your loss Kmac. She had a great life I'm sure with your family and that makes her sudden passing that much harder. Pants Tent-wheeew, glad that story had a happy ending. On four occasions our two got out and were gone from 10-14 hours. The good thing that happened each time is that the big dog stayed with his smaller brother and they never left each other. Makes his death last week that much harder to deal with for us and his brother.
  13. http://stopbaptistpredators.org/index.htm While the Catholic abuse is more widespread, I'm not sure that the Baptists don't do their share of covering up the sins of their leaders as well. The ongoing and continual revelations from so many churches, institutions, etc. leaves little doubt that this has been a centuries old problem that only in the last twenty years has been brought out in the open--with little impact change wise, sadly.
  14. I agree. I worked at Caravan of Dreams with the sommelier who is now at Grace and have always enjoyed the great service, atmosphere, and meals.
  15. Snap those memories as often as you can-they will be treasured someday.
  16. Sheep should definitely be under level one scrutiny with your invading Agroid. I know Ruffas is getting what he needs and pray that his quality of life is both long and peaceful.
  17. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-singers-of-all-time-147019/aretha-franklin-6-227696/ One poll that imho you could not argue with, at least the #1 choice. RIP to an American icon.
  18. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-singers-of-all-time-147019/aretha-franklin-6-227696/ RIP to an American icon. Since 1965, my all time favorite female singer in any genre.
  19. Hoping Blue gets well soon Deej. The things our dogs do for us make the things we do for our dogs all worthwhile. Blessings on your and your canine kid.
  20. Hope you get a reprieve for Ruffas-I know how much he must mean to you. Let us know the outcome.
  21. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the kindness shown my wife and I today by all of the staff at Hulen Hills Animal Hospital. We said goodbye to our beloved Bailey after 15 years when it was revealed that a cancerous tumor was inoperable and his life was at an end. Every employee present from the treating doctor to the front desk receptionist were patient, sympathetic, and understanding in our time of grief and it made a dark day a little more bearable. This facility is open seven days a week and this marks the second pet we have said goodbye to in their care. Really grateful as well that this was the weekend Bailey left us-we will be in California in a couple of weeks for my son's 35th birthday and it would have been really sad had it happened during that weekend.
  22. Bailey Brown Jackson said goodbye today at 3:25pm after a 15 year career of bringing joy and happiness to all who knew him (squirrels and other rats being the exception). He had a long and distinguished career of brightening the lives of those whom he came in contact with, and filled our hearts with a lifetime of memories which we are now left to cherish in between the sadness of losing him to cancer. I have always believed that he gave his very best every day to me in being my best canine friend and that someday it would be up to me to return the favor by being a responsible pet owner and letting him go rather than suffer. We awoke this morning at 6am and after going outside, I held him in my lap for the better part of three hours, knowing that today was the day we would make our last awakening on earth together. His demise was sudden, his suffering minimal, and his exit swift without pain. There is a hurt in my heart that I know will be replaced by another wonderful rescue dog someday, but for today, it just aches to see all of the places where he once slept, ate, played, and lived. My hope is to live out the rest of my days with the same outlook and attitude that my precious boy did. Good dog, Bailey-see you on the other side.
  23. Saw this in 3-D this evening. Several scenes where pucker factor was 12+ and Cruise doing his own stunts still amazes me. Always enjoy the twists in this series and this one delivers as well.
