  1. Reminds me of Carl Sagan who couldn't just talk about nuclear war. He had to talk about nuclear winter. Really! We just blew up the entire planet and killed 99% of everything and all Carl Sagan wants to know is, "What's the weather going to be like?". What a Grandpa thing to be on your mind after a nuclear holocaust. And here we are talking about conference realignment when we may get nuked tomorrow. WHERE ARE OUR PRIORITIES?
  2. I posted this before today's surge in the CU story line. But it's it how I picture the PACX schools looking at the deal Klownkov gave them. 362349033_6488135051307461_2879093333365916232_n.mp4.47cd2204d11a5747e0df9f5c0be6c5c0.mp4

  6. That Wilner March 21 reference is great, especially the part about, 'they need to go early, things could get worse'. Like you could lose USC & UCLA. Or while you're slow walking your negotiations the Big12 gets their deal done which locked up some of the TV slots that you were hoping for or you find out that you viewership claims were inflated meaning A. Your conference value is a little less than you claimed. B. You owe Comcast $50mill. A lot has happened since 03-21.
  7. 1. They literally have a $100,000,000 tied up in it. 2. It actually functions really well and looks good. 3. They have a lot of tie ins. Like it comes with some cable packages and its free on a lot of cell phone plans. 4. Streaming really will be a big thing someday and the PACX will rue the day if they torch it.
  8. So IF Apple is offering an All or Nothing deal, it must be pretty good. Like a 6 year 1.8bill offer and maybe some cash for the PACX streaming system and studios. A lack of exposure won't be the only real problem. If Apple is buying all the rights, then they will want all the scheduling autonomy. If you're Apple and you made the bid that held the PACX together then you're going to tell the schools what time their game is and on what day they're playing. Thursday, Friday, Saturday- noon, afternoon, late game. Apple will be your overlord. Conference contracts usually guarantee that even the worst school with the worst TV footprint will still get a couple of good slots each season. Apple is going to say, "If you want our money, you'll accept our scheduling'.

  10. Friday Klownkov Made it sound like the PACX members Had already signed away their GOR. He walked that back a little bit today. He really pissed CU off Friday. https://247sports.com/article/pac-12-commissioner-george-kliavkoff-merton-hanks-partner-with-big-12-brett-yormark-usc-ucla-oregon-213140824/
  11. Is his emphasis on "The Grant of Rights has already been negotiated" a warning to CU and others that you are stuck with whatever deal I give you?
  12. https://pac-12.com/live Link does work and its free
  13. So I've thought the PAC12 was paying more and they haven't been. Is that what I am seeing here?
  14. Handing the schools an update, 24 hours before they have to go on camera is a bum ass move. It's done in politics all the time. It comes across more as an arm twisting ultimatum than as great package that was worth the wait.
  15. So the John Canzano tweet that say SDSU still in play is already wrong. Surly Analytics Inc rates the shelf life of John Canzano tweets at exactly 48.2 hours. So that tweet was below the norm.
  16. All true, there's a reason they were put in BIG12 time out for 25 years. I think there will P5 shake up by 2036, UH has to prove they belong or they will be left out again.
  17. Here is a serious question, Can the Pacx kick out cal and replace them with san diego state. And that sure says a lot about my opinion of Cal That I think San Diego state is a step up.
  18. HOLLYWOOD MARRIAGES THAT DIDN'T LAST AS LONG AS THE PACX MEDIA NEGOTIATIONS: BRITNEY SPEARS & JASON ALEXANDER 55hrs NICOLAS CAGE & ERIKA KOIKE 4 DAYS KRIS HUMPHRIES & KIM KARDASHIAN 72 DAYS NICOLAS CAGE & LISA MAIRIE PRESLEY 107 DAYS PAMELA ANDERSON & KID ROCK 122 DAYS KENNY CHESNEY & RENEE ZELLWEGER 128 DAYS CARMEN ELECTRA & DENNIS RODMAN 129 DAYS SOPHIA BUSH & CHAD MICHAEL MURPHY 163 DAYS JENNIFER LOPEZ & CHRIS JUDD 218 DAYS JIM CAREY & LAUREN HOLLY 309 DAYS ELIZABETH TAYLOR HAD FIVE MARRIAGES THAT DIDN'T LAST THIS LONG MILEY CYRUS & LIAM HEMSWORTH 8 MONTHS CHER & GREG ALLMAN 9 DAYS
  19. The Big12 will have more linear exposure this year than in any previous season EVER. Remember we haven't had 12 teams since 2010 and we've never had 14 teams before. If the BIG12 doesn't have 14 teams for the 2024 football season, those linear TV spots will be picked up by another conference. It is not inherent that IF the BIG12 is back to 14 by 2024 that it keeps the slots it has this year. The power fanbases of UT & OU will disappear and with them some of those linear slots. But you certainly can't keep any of those slots if you don't have the games to keep them. And of course we know that it's the PACX that is desperate for any broadcast options and they'd be glad to get those slots. So the BIG12 would like to add two schools in time for the 2024 football season and to me the only rational options (Sans PACX schools) for the BIG12 are SDSU, FRESNO ST & maybe UCONN.
  20. There's certainly some truth to that. What Big12 fan would have watched last years Cincy vs UCF game? NOBODY. But some BIG12 fans will be more likely to watch Cincy vs UCF in the future. OU & UT fanbases NOT watching as much BIG12 football will somewhat hurt the rating starting in 2024. We'll just have to wait and see. In 2024, Will the combined fanbases of BYU, UCF, UH & Cincy, watching Tech vs OkSt game be the same as the fan interest use to be from OU & UT fans? Maybe about the same, but it takes four schools to do it.
  21. The only reason UConn would be in the conversation is that ESPN wants them in the conference. But even IF ESPN said that they'd prorate the payout if we added UCONN, that doesn't mean that FOX would.
  22. Your budgeting point is spot on. Just a month ago WST publicly pushed the budget crisis panic button. This was at a time when the WST president was on the PACX commission. He knew that they were screwed. Now the UW president is on the PACX commission and we get, "The room just shifted." How the heck will media negotiations get better with a school president on the commission that has an escape hatch to the BIG12, versus a president whose only viable option is PACX survival. I guess maybe if there is a commission member who can continually tell Klownkov, "That deal won't keep us here", then maybe GK won't present unworkable deals to the entire ten.
