  1. People who hurry or jog across a crosswalk when they see they're holding up a turning car.
  2. Any dining recommendations within 15 or so mins of Arlington / AT&T stadium area? BBQ, TexMex, or otherwise. Need something sit-down and open for dinner. Work travel with long days anticipated, so trying to avoid driving into Dallas or Fort Worth.
  3. The "your payment is due in a couple days" reminder email even though you scheduled the payment when the first email came in three weeks earlier.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheProperPeople/videos They sneak into abandoned buildings. A bunch of good quality videos of interesting places.
  5. https://www.bloombergquint.com/onweb/hbo-s-anti-netflix-strategy-was-richard-plepler-now-he-s-leaving#gs.KZLAze5z I don't see the quantity over quality model being successful in the long run as technology is enabling anyone to put out content.
  6. "Texas tries to outdo Florida" Give it a few days. Florida: Hold my beer
  7. What's the name of the sub Saharan African football team he'll be playing for now?
  8. Can somebody post the Quandre in the butter pool pic? He warrants consideration.
  9. I'm guessing you're going with Hank Hill, but Prof Harold Hill works here too "Ladies and gentlemen, either you are closing your eyes to a situation you do not wish to acknowledge, or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated by the presence of field turf in your community!"
  10. Clearly fake news. Every College Station trip report I've ever read includes at least some of the following: - what a fine academic institution it is - approaching the likes of Harvard, Oxford, Stanford - the unmistakable class, decorum, and tradition - rivaling Augusta National - the charming and kind hearted people that make the citizens of Mayberry look like Westworld Pariah-ites - being welcomed into every tailgate like you're Norm Peterson - their children begging to come back as soon as possible - the parents secretly wishing their children will someday enroll at this prestigious university
  11. 1) SHOOTER12 has excess red blood cells 2) Find an unscrupulous, hemocompatible endurance athlete 3) ? 4) Profit
  12. In Arlington VA? I live nearby. It's still very commercial and office building heavy. Amazon's attempts to attract millenials may change that. For reference, my favorite getaways have been getting back to Austin and Madison, San Diego / Carlsbad, Fort Lauderdale, Clearwater, NC Outerbanks Future considerations: Acadia National Park Destin / Panhandle area, but avoiding spring break Charleston... if I can avoid everyone else that seems to love going there
  13. Looking for Surly suggestions on destinations for long weekend getaways. Considerations: - relatively easy to get to from a major airport within the continental US so that it's a worthile trip within 3-4 days - preference to places with some variety of things to do: food, events/sports/festivals/music/arts/history, hiking/fishing/outdoor activities - places worth going back to on a semi-regular basis (say anywhere from 2x/year to every few years) - not super touristy / obvious places like Manhattan, Miami, Orlando, unless it's some lesser known, nearby spot - primarily asking from the perspective of an adult, but feel free to provide kid-friendly suggestions for others
  14. I think ISWYDT You're saying the advertisers are targeting the 98% that are impressionable and can easily relate to incompetence? As opposed to the customer 2%ers that won't fall for their schtick? I was never good at lit/language. Is this an allegory?
  15. Recommend you guys check out Adam Carolla's "Commercial Grade" segments. The December one is linked below and starts at 40:30. Every few weeks, he has Christie Bishop (advertising/branding expert) on to dissect a handful of commercials. He hits on a lot of the ones covered in this thread. Itunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/acs-part-1-adam-ray-commercial-grade-christie-bishop/id306390087?i=1000426092634&mt=2 Or on your preferred podcast app, search for - The Adam Carolla Show - December 19, 2018 Adam Ray, and Commercial Grade with Christie Bishop Part 1 The segment starts at 40:30 of part 1.
  16. I feel uncomfortable whenever I hear his voice. He was on an Adam Carolla podcast a while back and I couldn't get this out of my head:
  17. He's standing on his toes and still 6" shorter
  18. My buddy hates that commercial so much that he will come back into the room when he hears it just to yell at the TV. He recently learned he'll be having a daughter in a few months. I told him I'll be helping her with her first word: dad-uh
  19. I think lack of availability due to the coach's mtg is a big contributor. Not sure I'm buying the "it's cheaper to use in-house guys" line of thinking. I'm guessing on-air talent has some kind of "special event compensation" in their contracts and that they're not working an extra Monday night, including whatever prep work they did, for fun. Even if the MNF on-air guys are doing this pro bono, I doubt ESPN would have had to shell out money to the coaches. ESPN: Hey corch X, you wanna be on our Coaches Film Room broadcast for the championship game? Corch X: You going to pay me to come to this? [ESPN looks to dozens of other corches salivating at the opportunity to be in front of every current and future recruit across the country for 3+ hours] ESPN: Nah, we're good.
  20. And that new kid is killing himself on the recruiting trail after being scared to death watching the game last night.
