  1. Lost himself about $30M last night. He struggles against good, complex defenses and is rattled by contact. Not a recipe for success at the next level.
  2. A new meaning to rock bottom.
  3. Wife from across the room : “I think [our nanny] made pork or swordfish for the kids.” Eljinca: “did she go to the store? I didn’t buy either yesterday.” Wife: “I don’t know. It looks like she burned it.” 5 minutes later…. Wife: “Ohhh, it’s potato salad.” *tommyleejones.gif*
  4. Not my wife, but someone’s. Driving on the highway yesterday with a minivan in front of me. Entered into a construction zone where the shoulder narrowed with concrete highway barriers directly after the right lane rumble strips. Road went to the left and the minivan… did not. Ripped the bumper off and front right tire exploded as she clipped the barrier. She straightened the minivan out and continues on. No harm no foul I guess. She was still driving on the rim a mile down the road when I passed her.
  5. “There’s a problem! I only bought one duvet cover for [our 3 year old]!”

Going to enjoy revisiting these fever dreams when we hire Tab Ramos.
  7. Good text received with no context yesterday: "They emailed about going back in February" 6 texts later I finally got that her office has determined that they will now require 1 day per week in person work.
  8. Couldn’t catch the river card…
  9. Produce his last 3 tax returns, fully audited financial statements and investment portfolios or stfu you fraud.
  10. La Piquette is pretty good by the Cathedral. Never been for brunch but their lunch is good.
  11. Two kids from McAllen opened a breakfast taco place in Mt. Pleasant, La Tejana. Was pretty excellent today.

No, it doesn’t fit our team at all.
  13. Both the player and manager said this was not the case.

    USMNT 2023

Look, as this is now a recap of the 2022 USMNT thread, this team achieved what anyone could reasonably expect -getting out of the group - and, if this core group continues to improve and grow, should be a springboard for making a deeper run in 26 as the hosts. We do still now have the depth, talent or experience to compete with the soccer blue bloods (of which the Dutch are a part). If we continue and can find a center forward and depth and quality in defense, we should expect a quarter final (or further) run at home.

Agreed, Canada benefits tremendously as well.

(I should add that the more mls and ussf can do to increase mls club funding to academies the better. The bigger the pond we create, the bigger fish we’ll find.)

    USMNT 2023

The MLS is a relevant league for mid-tier European clubs (and rarely big clubs) poaching cheaper young talent and for Central American clubs to build talent pools their domestic leagues can’t afford. IMO, the MLS will never, and should never aspire, to compete with any of the big 4/5 European leagues.

If this is your opinion, it is entirely wrong. If you are just stating some public announcement of MLS’ strategic priorities, than fine. A major issue holding back the USMNT is the commingling of MLS’s and US Soccer’s priorities. The USMNT is not helped by keeping talent in mls or paying oversized salaries to talent that should be challenged in better leagues. Barring teenagers who are being showcased before they can move to europe, it’s a great fall back and oversized paydays for has-beens or never-hads from a USMNT perspective. It should be no surprise that 9 players on the roster (and 5 starters today) have never had any affiliation with MLS. Everyone else barring Ream, Zimmerman and Turner left the moment they turned 18 (Adams, Aaronson, McKinney, Wright, Scally, even Shaq Moore).

Greg is what he is and should be thanked and not renewed. We need a far better tactical approach than he can provide. The only usmnt players that should come back to mls are those who can’t hack it for their Euro club and want a payday. Any who do should then be removed from serious consideration in the player pool. Ream will have retired and Haji Wright will be 30, but everyone else on the roster who matters will be in their prime in 25/26. Our standard should be a top 4 euro league starting xi player.
  20. Greg is what he is - a mid tier mls coach. He got totally depantsed in tactics and team selection today. 1-11, the Dutch are better than we are, and Van Gaal closed the door on any real opportunity for the win. Happy to provide us with possession and dare us to be technical and tactical enough to break them down and finish. We have maybe 7-8 players capable of that level of play, and two started on the bench. Really love seen Jordan Morris coming in as our offensive punch in the 80th minute! Bull in a china shop, right? We met expectations in this tournament, but did not exceed them. He should be lauded for transitioning the playing pool from the aged 2014-ers to a lot of young talent and winning some national team recruiting battles for Musuh and Pepi. Musuh is definitely a huge piece going forward. Greg should get a hearty “thanks” and we should look for a stronger manager going into the 2026 cycle.
