  1. Yeah, I read that and was like ...
  2. Facts: - Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass both publicly stated they did not request National Guard assistance. - Under normal circumstances, National Guard deployment requires state approval unless the Insurrection Act is invoked, which Trump has not done. - The Department of Homeland Security claimed “about 1,000 rioters” were involved. Reuters explicitly stated: “That number could not be independently verified.” - No arrests, property damage, or injuries matched the scale of that claim in public records or independent media. - LAPD and local sheriffs reported protests were largely peaceful, especially during the day before Trump escalation. - Some tensions flared in Paramount and downtown LA, but no reports of organized looting or widespread property destruction emerged. - Reporters on the ground, including from LAist, KPCC, and Reuters, reported being tear-gassed or pushed back despite clearly identifying themselves. - Multiple journalists were caught on camera saying “We’re press!” as flash-bangs or tear gas were deployed nearby. - Video footage and timeline analysis show a flash-bang grenade thrown into debris shortly before a car caught fire. - No evidence has emerged that protesters intentionally started that fire. - Video footage reviewed by The Guardian and Washington Post showed flash-bangs, tear gas, and rubber bullets deployed against protesters without clear provocation. - Protesters were often seen dispersing or shielding themselves, not advancing aggressively. - Trump placed the National Guard under federal control (Title 10), bypassing state authority a rare and provocative move that violates the Tenth Amendment unless the Insurrection Act is formally invoked.
  3. We are through the looking glass
  4. BREAKING: Trump Threatens Elon Musk Again - “He’ll Have to Pay the Consequences” https://krassencast.com/p/breaking-trump-threatens-elon-musk?utm_source=substack&publication_id=1458862&post_id=165424362&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&utm_campaign=email-share&triggerShare=true&isFreemail=true&r=3agz2m&triedRedirect=true
  5. Jesus, you can't fuck up the Texas Ex's name on Surly, goddammit.
  6. Nieuwendyk tore his ACL after a dirty hit by Bryan Marchment in the first game of the first series of the 1998 playoffs and missed the rest of the Stars' run that year. His recovery forced him to miss the beginning of the 1998-99 season but played the entire '99 playoffs and won the Conn Smythe as the Stars hoisted the Cup. Modano, however, played several of the Finals games against Buffalo with a broken wrist IIRC.
  7. OK, several things to unpack here. First, the sitting FBI director went on Joe Rogan's podcast for a long-form interview. Second, he's bro-ing out and smoking a cigar during said interview. Third, he's announcing that the FBI has seized a phone and hard drive used by Anthony Fauci during the pandemic. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-14788575/fbi-kash-patel-update-anthony-fauci-cell-phone-covid.html
  8. Yes, it's one thing to be extremely successful for a short period of time. But the true coaching greats are those who also add in longevity -- Coach K and Pop are extreme examples. Saban is a good one too. College is a little different animal, though, in that college sports churn rosters completely over a period of a few years.
  9. Ashli Babbitt was “convicted.”
  10. Musk has apparently deleted his tweets https://apple.news/AmRH9FAt8Sc-Hux4YRFAfMA
  11. The Jimmy-Cowboys marriage was on the rocks when he quit/got fired. Aikman didn’t care for his style any longer. He wasn’t the only Cowboy who felt that way. JJ rode the Cowboys very hard. It was immensely successful but it was not sustainable. Jimmy was probably gone in another year, one way or the other. He and Jerry just expedited things. Hitchcock’s methods weren’t long-term sustainable either, which is why the Stars didn’t really get close again after the 98-99-00 run. The players wanted to kill him at the end of his first stint in Dallas.
  12. I’m far from a softball expert but I wonder if it’s more the familiarity of seeing the same pitcher three days in a row than fatigue that gets us to where the Horns put up a first-inning five-spot last night. It’s probably a little Column A and a little Column B.
  13. Sorry it’s FB but still pretty cool https://www.facebook.com/share/v/14E1LY7bHdF/?mibextid=WC7FNe
  14. What makes you think either one of those guys have the capability, or the desire, to snag front office jobs? The Oilers were just better the past two years. Period. The only chance we had was Skinner shitting his pants and he didn't in either series, save for the third period of G1 this year. Yep. He burns hot and then burns out. Much like Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys. Hitch was the same way. The players fucking hated his guts by the time he got fired the first time. Of course, I bet Mo and Hatcher have nothing but praise for the guy who got them a Cup now that it's all over with and 20+ years are in the rearview mirror. This is what did him in -- publicly embarrassing Otter, who just signed an 8-year deal and is your franchise netminder, and then not making things immediately right in the post-game. That was just stupid on DeBoer's part. Yep. Can't churn the roster as easily as you can change the coach. Agreed. This team is set-up to be good longer than probably anybody else in the NHL. Is it Cup worthy? Time will tell. They've got $5M of cap room and a bunch of guys heading to UFA. It will be interesting to see how they fill some of those spots.
  15. From the article:
  16. And, now, this -- prop bets! Will Trump Have Musk Indicted? You Can Bet On It — And On Other Trump-Musk Feud Wagers https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/will-trump-have-musk-indicted-you-can-bet-on-it-and-on-other-trump-musk-feud-wagers/
  17. Probably can't because of TV. But I checked a couple of hours ago and saw the same thing -- the forecast gets worse as you get deeper into the night.
  18. Dinesh is a special kind of stupid
  19. She might've been somewhat attractive some years ago before she Mar-A-Lagoed her face. But, much like the rest of the MAGA crowd, I couldn't get past the ideology no matter what they looked like. Unless we're talking about Hope Hicks.
  20. You're right about the pedo angle. There will be a group of MAGA who will dismiss it as "fake news" no matter what evidence you have but some will abandon him completely if they see the light so to speak. Noem shot the dog because it was untrainable. Google AI mentions that she said the dog ruined a pheasant trip and attacked a neighbor's chickens. She also apparently said it whipped around and tried to bite her one time.
  21. I mean it was obvious in this interview pre-2024 election that the Epstein files would never get released by Trump's administration.
