  1. Benn's contract is over soon enough. At that point, nobody will pay him very much. Same with Seguin. They'll either sign team-friendly deals to chase a Cup, go somewhere else or retire. Nill isn't stupid. He will not overpay for those guys. Duchene should be a #2 or #3 center. Great guy to have on the team but he cannot be your leading scorer, at least not the guy you depend on to get goals. I like what we did to get Rantanen. Elite players like that don't come available very often. And it just cost us Stankoven and a draft pick. Make that trade every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  2. Benn was an elite power forward up until about his age-28 or age-29 season, which IIRC is about when power forwards historically start their decline in the NHL. He was a top-10 overall point shares player in the NHL for three or four seasons there. He was an elite player. Was. Hasn't been for a number of years. After tonight, Robertson has 44 career points (18G, 26A) in 55 playoff games. Seven of his 18 goals and 11 of his 26 assists have come on the power play. That's 40% of his production coming on the power play. Compare that to 29.4% of his career regular season points coming on the power play. Your top scorer(s) need to be able to get it done on 5-on-5, with a man advantage -- whatever. I said it back during his first swim through the playoffs in 2021-22 when he had 41 regular season goals and got one in a first-round loss to the Flames (the aforementioned Otter series). I wondered if he could ever become a consistent postseason scorer. Three seasons later, we still don't really know.
  3. Man, I forget that Nugent-Hopkins was a 1-1. I looked it up. We've had four top 10 picks since the Stars moved to Dallas in 1993: 1993: Todd Harvey (1-9) 1996: Ric Jackman (1-5) 2009: Scott Glennie (1-9) 2013: Val Nichushkin (1-10) 2017: Miro Heiskanen (1-3) I liked the mix of this year's team better than last year's. I think we're getting closer. This is why I want Edmonton to win the Cup. Get it out of the way. If the Oilers are still hunting for the elusive Cup next year, I fear more of the same is in store for us -- and the rest of the West. Just rip the band-aid off and let them get it. The hangover will be so bad for them, they might not even make the playoffs next season. (They will but humor me. Maybe they're a wild card that gets in -- and then nobody wants them in Round 1.) I know we can't bring everybody back but I didn't feel like there was a black hole on the blue-line this season like last year when Hakanpaa went down. I like Duchene quite a bit. I don't like him being our leading regular-season scorer and then scoring ZERO points in 18 playoff games during 5-on-5 play. That's practically impossible.
  4. I disagree on Robo. But I haven’t looked at any of the advanced stats. It’s just my gut. At one time, Benn was a premiere power forward in the NHL. Those days are long gone.
  5. Those guys don’t exactly grow on trees. Jury is out on Rantanen for me. I want to see him get a full year with this team. Roope is a nice player. He’s fast as hell but he’s hurt a lot. He should probably be the #2 center on a Cup winner. Again, I’m really, really disappointed in the egg laid by Wyatt this postseason. I hope we hear that he was battling something because that needs to be our guy. Our trouble is that we don’t get top five picks often. We got Miro at #3 and I can’t think of another top 10 pick in all the years we’ve had the team in Dallas. We aren’t going to get a shot at McDavid, Matthews, Bedard, etc.
  6. Agree with this. I keep waiting for Otter to become that shut-down goalie and he just can’t get there. Another year where he gets outplayed by somebody he should be better than — Jordan Binnington/Blues, Adin Hill/Knights, Skinner/Oilers x 2 and so on. The best playoff series I think he ever played was against the Flames in the bubble. He hasn’t gotten back to that level since.
  7. Robo was hot garbage most of the playoffs. He needs space to score. The trouble is that space disappears in the playoffs unless you create it yourself. He doesn’t have that type of game. He played well tonight but the first goal was a terrible turnover and he wound up in the slot with no one around him. I’d trade him in a heartbeat if we could get a good return. Benn was a great player at one time. He won the scoring title one season. He’s got nothing left at this point, though. He was simply invisible against the Oilers because he can’t keep up with their best athletes.
  8. Finals start Wednesday in Edmonton
  9. Maybe my favorite show ever. This or Seinfeld.
  10. Xavier Leggette went to his first NHL game and fucking loved it! (This video is awesome.) https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16bwstZKMm/?mibextid=UalRPS
  11. You’re having a night. Among the final four teams the past three years. Lost to the Cup champ in 2023, lost to the 7-game runner up in 2024 and who knows this year. What if Edmonton is holding the Cup in two weeks? No
  12. Wyatt Johnston finishes at -16 in the playoffs, which I think is the worst in the history of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
  13. It’s hard to repeat and as long as the Oilers have McDavid, they’ve got a chance. McDavid will win a Cup in his career, I’m sure of it. I just have a feeling it’s their turn. I expect a good series.
  14. That’s just atrocious luck I don’t think so. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Edmonton win the Cup.
  15. That’s the Skinner I was expecting in this series
  16. More Jake Tapper https://www.threads.com/@ronaldfilipkowski/post/DKQkqiUR7cE?xmt=AQF0SSNoSjBZbXFSSDwwSUlWMnf_qOrGzsgsV-5-qE0ktg
  17. Mush, what would you say you do here?
  18. Nice that Seguin drew penalty but how does he not get a shot off there?
  19. Robertson with an even strength goal!
  20. Gutless performance. What a joke.
  21. At least Carolina came out with their hair on fire last night. They lost but they didn’t embarrass themselves.
  22. Nice play rookie [emoji849]
