  1. “Every group needs a fall guy.” — Cris Carter Trump’s ‘fall guy’ is looking for his ‘fall guy.’
  2. WGAF if he's fired in three years. I'm sure he doesn't. They'll owe him the rest of the $100M and he likely isn't unemployed very long. He's got a much greater chance of winning a title at LSU than he did at Ole Miss.
  3. What part was wrong? If any of BYU, Virginia, James Madison, North Texas or Tulane lose there's no chance any of them get into the 12-team playoff. That's what I was saying. I understand things start to get messy if Duke and BYU win, etc. I don't think any result in the B10 or SEC Championship Games will knock any of those four out of the final 12-team field. It will have an effect where they're all seeded.
  4. Well, can you point to aggy or Ole Miss or Oklahoma playing additional games against top 5 or top 10 games this weekend? The CCG is do-or-die for Virginia and BYU for sure this weekend. Should Tech get a pass if it doesn't beat BYU this weekend? I'm not certain of that but I'd be shocked if they're not firmly in no matter what happens this weekend. It's also do-or-die for North Texas, Tulane and James Madison this weekend. (It also might not matter for North Texas/Tulane if James Madison wins.) It's not do-or-die for Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia or Alabama due to the strength of their conferences.
  5. You got me there. It's not in the official CFP rules. But I can tell you the runner-up from the undisputed strongest conference in the nation isn't getting left out of the 12-team playoff in place of teams behind them because they lost the extra game. And Bama has already beaten the Dawgs once. I don't disagree. The Big 10 is even worse. Of their top four teams -- Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon and Michigan -- there were exactly two games played between those four schools. Michigan/Ohio State and Indiana/Oregon. That's it.
  6. This is the same school that employed -- and celebrated -- Les Miles and Ed Orgeron.
  7. We won't have the same record. We'll have the same amount of losses but one fewer win -- and they will have played an extra game against the #3 team in the nation. Again, aggy should be sweating this far more than they are. Hell, so should Ole Miss. They beat OU by less than we did (albeit in Norman) and have only played two teams that are in the current rankings all year.
  8. aggy should be sweating this more than Bama but they're not. aggy's SEC opponents were a combined 18-43 in the SEC this season.
  9. The problem with this is that Bama isn't considered a "bubble team" at this point. The SEC is the strongest conference in the nation this season and the two teams that play in the CCG are getting in. Period. You can't compare this to basketball because the method for determining conference champ is one game between the "top" two teams -- not everybody in the conference in a seeded tournament format. So if Duke wins, that opens the door up for a second G5 school to get in. Does it have to work that way? Or does that open the door for Texas to sneak in?
  10. What @'stache said. Basically, the CCG game can -- and will -- effect your seeding in the top 12 but playing that extra game shouldn't knock you out of the 12 no matter what happens.
  11. I think the sentiment is that the CCG isn't going to knock out a team that is presumably "in" before the CCG is played. Most think Bama is in as of today. If they pick up a 3rd loss in the CCG, it shouldn't be a determining factor in whether they get knocked out. In other words you can only improve your position by playing (and winning) the CCG. Take the Big 10 game this year, it's #1 vs #2. The winner will be the #1 seed and the loser will likely fall to #3 or so.
  12. Am I supposed to know who the Hitler Youth guy is?
  13. Reminiscent of this: I have to report that our Thanksgiving lunch at my in-laws was politics-free. BIL who has a couple of DWI's to his name and usually doesn't drink at family holiday gatherings had a few beers and that appeared to take some of his usual weird edge off. Not a single word from her parents about anything. It was lovely.

  15. Probably was you. We were on Row 4 or something. IIRC the fellow Surlyite was a row or two behind me. I think I might've showed up in one of your pics!
  16. It really is a perfect description of that town.
  17. Oxford is a kick ass town. Staying sober in Oxford isn’t any easier than Baton Rouge. Hell, the Ole Miss cry was always “we might lose the game but we never lose the party.”
  18. Once an amoral piece of shit, always an amoral piece of shit.
  19. $100M for seven years makes him the highest paid college coach in country, yes? He also knows complete idiots Les Miles and Ed Orgeron won national titles there.
  20. When he didn’t say he was staying in PC after Egg Bowl it was apparent he wasn’t staying. Sounds like he’s been trying to coach Ole Miss thru any SEC Championship Game and/or playoffs and take the LSU job next year. He really is an amoral fuck. My daughter (Ole Miss sophomore) said Lane’s daughter is a junior. Heard she’d asked Lane to not leave while she was there but that was a year ago. She’s gonna have a rough last few semesters in Oxford. Guess her BF’s is already in Baton Rouge.
  21. Team meeting tomorrow at 9am. He’s gone. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/lane-kiffin-hired-lsu-coaching-search-ole-miss-live-updates-news-reaction-analysis/Np8uPTxEyLbi/ Lane Kiffin Ole Miss, LSU decision expected soon: Live updates, latest news, analysis and reaction
  22. How the fuck does aggy have the #16 schedule? They played seven of the eight worst teams in the SEC and Texas — and lost to us. Notre Dame can’t be that much of a boost.
