  2. Five of the top six Stars are our Finns. That chart also says that Duchene is playing well but just not putting the puck in the net. Hopefully, that dam breaks soon! Three
  3. Would they make change if Pickard was healthy today? Skinner has back-to-back shutouts.
  4. I wasn't paying close enough attention to the Oilers/Vegas series. I didn't realize Pickard was hurt. Is that the only reason they put Skinner back in net or did they go back to Skinner with Pickard available?
  5. Lot of truth there. And our blue line was in shambles by the time we got to the Oilers series. I wonder how much longer we go with the 11-7 configuration. Remember we basically played five D-men in the first two rounds last year, then threw Petrovic into the fray vs Edmonton *while* asking Miro to play nearly 30 mins per game chasing McDavid/Draisaitl around.
  6. They've got him Chris Chris-ing around the Arab world cutting deals, right? Or is that strictly Eric's job?
  7. Worth a few mins of your time: Scenes from Stars’ series-clincher: Mason Marchment’s humanity, Jake Oettinger’s game saver, more This is cool too:

  9. We got back from Kilby later than expected last night. Saw some good stuff Thursday-Saturday. The highlight of the festival was New Order, who closed Thursday night. (Kilby is normally a Friday-Sunday affair but the only night New Order could play was Thursday so they added an extra day!) What a show. The gang led off with two or three Joy Division songs, including "Transmission" to start it all off. Then they busted into my favorite album (Power, Corruption & Lies) for "Age of Consent" and "Your Silent Face." I'm no a huge Killers fan but Brandon Flowers (lead singer) joined NO onstage for "Bizarre Love Triangle." (Apparently, Flowers lives in Park City and idolizes NO.) We saw parts or all of sets for: Yo La Tengo Future Islands Devo New Order Perfume Genius Momma Built to Spill Car Seat Headrest Vacations Slowdive Youth Lagoon Rilo Kiley Beach House Jelani Aryeh SASAMI Toro y Moi St. Vincent Weezer I think our favorite sets were New Order, Perfume Genius, Rilo Kiley, Beach House and St. Vincent. I'm head-over-heels in love with Annie Clark (too bad she plays shortstop for the other team). Jenny Lewis is another hall pass for me.
  10. Maybe the first season of Lasso and a chunk of the second. Lasso became the opposite of subtle. I, too, echo the exhalting of Derek. Great character delivered perfectly by Ted McGinley.
  11. Yep, I covered one of those Avs-Stars series. We got crushed in that series. The Avs used to play the "You're my boy, Blue!" soundclip from Old School after every Colorado goal back then. We heard it a lot that series, which I think was over in five games if memory serves.
  12. Edmonton is much more than McDavid/Draisaitl this season, it appears. They still have Skinner/Pickard in net. Skinner beat our ass last year so I have to give him that. But I think the Stars are better, especially with Rantanen now. Regarding Minnesota, I think you're not giving them enough credit. The Wild had the best record in the NHL -- or close to it -- when they were wrecked with injuries. Minnesota got healthy near the end of the year and went on a run to make the playoffs and gave Vegas all it could handle. Mikko doesn't make us faster but he's makes us a better scoring team. You're going to have to score some goals to beat the Oilers. For the second time in three series, I'm picking the Stars' opponent to win the series if you're putting a gun to my head. I didn't like how the Stars were playing headed into the Colorado series but they gutted through it. I flat out thought we would lose to the Avs. I didn't expect a loss to Winnipeg in Round 2 but I also wasn't assuring myself the Stars were beating the Jets either. I'm conflicted on this round. The Stars, like Scottie Scheffler on the back nine yesterday, have righted their ship and now Miro's back. But the Oilers beat us last year and have added pieces that make them even more dangerous. I said it last week -- McDavid and Draisaitl are not going to retire without hoisting the Stanley Cup at least once. I'm almost certain of that. So, I hope I'm very wrong but I'd pick the Oilers to win in six games. The East is not anywhere near as deep as the West but the two teams in the Finals there are spectacular teams, especially the Panthers. Any of the four left can win the Cup and I think that's fun as fuck. I hope it's our Stars!
  13. Yes, Junior, a doctor of education “missed” stage 5 cancer, which doesn’t exist.
  14. Since I missed Game 6, this was a nice 10-minute synopsis.
  15. Stars owner Tom Gaglardi let Scheifele use his private jet to fly home to his family following Game 6.
  16. So it doesn’t end 7 or 8-1 [emoji1787]
  17. That is a legit cool story.
  18. Woohoo! I’m at Kilby Block Party in SLC. Missed Game 5 because I was seeing New Order. Missed tonight because of St Vincent and Weezer. Saw score at 1-0 for Jets and then lost all service. Popped it back up and saw final!!!!
  19. Correct. Here’s how the math works for Trump. Qatar gives US (him) a $400M plane for “free.” It will take a billion dollars to take it apart and put it back together again. This will not happen soon enough to ever serve as AF1. Trump knows this. It will go thru the process anyway, at taxpayer expense, and be given to Trump’s presidential library upon him leaving office. Therefore he will wind up an AF1-quality personal private jet that the taxpayer’s will have paid for upon him leaving office (if he leaves office). That math maths perfectly for the Head Grifter in Charge.
  20. I ripped him pretty good after his first playoffs. I thought he was too soft to score in the playoffs when the checking gets tougher and the goals get greasier. Then he went and averaged nearly a point per playoff game the last two and I wondered if I was maybe wrong. This year has been a sluggish start — and I know he’s coming off an injury to start playoffs. Robo had a nice chance in Game 4 and made a phenomenal defensive play on a stick poke at the net that almost certainly saved a goal. I’m not as worried about his lack of production yet because we traded for that alpha dog scorer in Rantanen and he’s delivering. But it would make things much better if he’d be able to chip in a bit more. Him and Duchene and Marchment.
  21. Nor do I, as long as Florida played well. They’re better than Toronto. Period. End of story. And once the Panthers got settled, they proved it.
  22. Have the Sharks ever beaten the Stars in a playoff series? I don’t think they have. Edmonton is damn good, beat us last year and are playing great now. We beat Vegas last year and they looked old this series. I wanted it to go as long as possible. If Dallas moves on, we will have our hands full with the Oilers. Of the seven teams still playing, I think I might pick the Oilers as the Cup favorite right now. McDavid and Draisaitl are winning a Cup sometime. It’s inevitable.
  23. Don’t you remember all the drugs the WH pharmacy dispensed during Trump 1.0?
