  1. Remember Brooks from Shawshank? Being incarcerated was basically all he ever knew. He got out and experienced freedom for the first time in decades and decades and couldn’t handle it. He wanted to be institutionalized again.
  2. Rot in hell you disgusting fuckstick.
  3. This is it exactly. We knew he was old. The debate just drove it home. Biden could be perfect from here on out and that debate still has an effect, sadly. Chances are Biden has several more bad moments between now and November and we will be too low to pull a parachute at that point. I hate that this is how it ends because he's a good man and he's done a remarkable job given the shit sandwich he inherited. He deserves better than this. But he's 81 -- and physically frail. He's also going up against a bully who doesn't play by the rules. He's backed by a political party that doesn't play by the rules.
  4. I really like Shapiro, BTW. Kamala+Shapiro is a ticket I could get pretty excited about.
  5. Imagine the firefighter who was actually killed after attending a stupid Trump political rally. I mean his tweets show he was a true believer POS but imagine that being the venue and manner of checking out of this world.
  6. Wife and I finally finished S3 last night. I still love the show but I enjoyed the first two seasons more (still loved this one). I thought Einbender's performance was weaker until the last couple of scenes with Smart when she knocked it out of the park. I guess S4 will take on a Larry Sanders' feel, which I'm 100% on board with.
  7. I'm sure their "stats" take into account that same-sex marriage only became legal in large parts of the US less than 10 years ago.
  8. I'd put the chances of conviction at less than 25% at this point. That might be high too. This case goes away forever if Trump wins and seems he's pegged around 65% or higher to win in November today. Lot can change between now and then, of course, but he has to lose that election AND then you're facing an antagonistic judge in the documents case.
  9. According to this, it's going to be hard to have Cannon removed from the case no matter what 11th court says about this brain-dead dismissal. https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/18/politics/aileen-cannon-removal-trump-classified-documents/index.html
  10. I flipped over to see if the local nightly news had started and saw one of the Texas delegates -- they were wearing Texas flag shirts -- with a faux bandage on his ear. SMGDH I don't even know who that is. Scrolled past it on Threads, I think. 100% for show
  11. @bolverk’s post two pages back where the Washington Post used 3D imagery to show how Crooks likely evaded detection from the snipers before he shot at Trump is interesting. Now, go ahead and call into question how they allowed these “blind spots” or how the local cops missed the shooter being on the roof of the staging area in the first place if you want. Have they reported that he was walking around with the AR slung over his shoulder or did he stash it near the building or leave it in his car until he was ready to get up on the roof. His bizarre behavior around the magnetometers was probably him looking for a good vantage point to try and get for a shot at him. Just one woman was up on the stage IIRC. There were several at the Tahoe/Suburban, though, including the one who couldn’t seem to get her handgun holstered in a very quick fashion. I’ve said that several times on this thread. LOL
  12. At least Stewart has the sharpness to crack back at people like O’Reilly. Meanwhile, Jake Tapper and others bring on the “opposing viewpoint” and allow these folks to just spew lies one after the other with zero pushback. Insanity.
  13. Here’s the money shot from last night’s Daily show appearance by Bill O’Reiily:
  14. I posted this in another thread. Ran across this o. Threads:
  15. I didn't say anything about any likelihood that Moore would be the pick. What I mean is that whoever replaces Biden is going to be a household name overnight. For somebody that doesn't necessarily have as high a profile now as, say, Kamala, the sooner you do this the better. Get that person out in front of every camera you can so they can start campaigning. But the money situation points strongly in Kamala's direction and the other names bandied about probably wind up on the ticket at VP.
  16. Doesn't any switch need to be made by Aug 7 in order to not get into issues with having the Democratic POTUS nominee on the ballot in all 50 states? And there's this: every tested Dem nominee for POTUS is outperforming Biden at this point. https://www.mediaite.com/election-2024/new-politico-poll-reveals-nearly-every-tested-democrat-performs-better-than-biden/ I'm in favor of graciously replacing Biden at this point. We cannot sit around and hope and pray for an "October surprise" which is the only thing many say would swing this back Biden's direction.
  17. And if he becomes the Democratic nominee for POTUS, he'll become a household name overnight.
  18. Way too late in the game.
  19. Speaking of Trump’s ridiculous ear bandage:
