  1. This is like lunchtime at the Kavanaugh hearing where they realized how bad things were going and the Lindsay threw his fit and they quit letting the lady lawyer talk. Subpoena.
  2. Subpoena him tonight. Quit fucking around. Jesus Christ.
  3. Couldn't the later instances of obstruction be obstruction of the investigation of the earlier obstruction crimes? Since that's a big part of what Mueller investigated? What's with this "no underlying crime bulllshit? It's not even technically correct. Democrats need to start impeachment proceedings today. Against Trump and Barr.
  4. Yeah, the media writing him off has been a little bizarre. One article I saw talked about how the number of events organized across the US for him dropped from 1000 for his watch party to 300 for the first blockwalk. 300 events organized in people's homes and communities by real people, real voters, nine months before any primary, asking people to go out and engage directly with other people for a candidate is still a big deal. He's also finetuning his message and will be better prepared for televised town halls when he starts. TV wasn't his best medium in the Senate race, so it's probably good he's taking his time. He's still clearly in the top tier of candidates and has a shot depending no how things shake out.
  5. I think cause the government has F16s, tanks and actual assault rifles. Good luck keeping them in check.
  6. This is incredibly uninformed. Almost any lawyer working in the justice department could make substantially more in the private sector with little trouble finding a landing spot. New hires come from the top of their classes at elite law schools and/or off of federal clerkships. Lateral hires come from top firms. This is true for attorneys in other federal agencies too. Say what you will about Rosenstein but he's been committed to public service and isn't desperate to hang on to his job for financial reasons. While we're on the topic, is that really your view of professionals in the federal government? It is badly misinformed.
  7. I'm getting excited about Warren. I think she's really starting to connect be with people after her initial stumbles and expect her to see a big bump. Would love a Warren-Beto ticket.
  8. Is that real? Man, Biden is going to crash and burn faster than anyone could have predicted.
  9. The private companies will be the ones shutting it down. And I've yet to see evidence any social media company has targeted conservatives. To the contrary, Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw:Fw: has long been dominated by right wing perspectives.
  10. That's a good point. It's not going to result in just an undercount of illegals, it'll also undercount citizens and legal permanent residents. An easy example, a household with an undocumented head and citizen children or other relatives who avoids responding . That's setting aside that the Constitution calls for a count of persons, regardless of immigration status.
  11. That's a crazy statistic considering how much more a bachelor's degree was worth then.
  12. I think the way the decision was made makes it debatable. I haven't dug into this though, just flagging one of the issues.
  13. Under the Administrative Procedures Act, they're not allowed to do dumb ass things, which courts define as "arbitrary and capricious" or decisions with "no rational basis." That is one of the issues in the case.
  14. The stated goal will still be to count every person, they just want the non-citizens to identify themselves as such for, you know, research purposes. Now of course, undocumented immigrants, and likely citiizens in the same household, are going to be very reluctant to respond to any such inquiry. The end result will be a massive undercount of people, which, to your point, goes against the constitutional mandate. Now, anyone with half a brain can see this as the end result and since the administration had no valid reason for making the changing, courts are within their power to check the executive branch. However, the so-called conservatives are apparently going to go against that reasoning. I'll leave it to you to figure out what's really going on.
  15. It's general deference to the President and the executive branch, which I'm sure they'll give the same to President Elizabeth Warren when she circumvents the APA to enact climate change policies. Except she'll follow the APA because she and her administration will be competent unlike these fuckwits.
  16. We can debate the appropriateness of these sorts of fundraisers. It'd be nice if everyone could reject them. But didn't Beto do this in his Senate campaign too? I think troph hosted one for godsakes. And to my knowledge, he hasn't sworn them off in his run for president. More likely than not, the democratic nominee will do a bunch of these.
  17. They're still tweeting this shit: Some of those Patton Oswalt tweets are pretty hilarious. And "Hollywood Hegar" Trump-style nickname. Jesus fucking christ. The Trumpification of the GOP is complete.
  18. Awesome ad. i know the prevailing wisdom right now is Beto's stumbling but god would I love to see him on a national ticket with a strong candidate like MJ running against Cornyn.
  19. Could she have left because she wanted to be campaign manager and didn't get it?
  20. It wasnt a loss, except for our country. You are delusional if you think that report is good for Trump.
  21. It's alright y'all Mitt Romney's concerned. Now let's get some of that signature Susan Collins concern and we'll be good.
  22. It'd be great if the moron could show the slightest amount of contrition too.
  23. Thanks. I mean just the exchange at the initial meeting seems enough to reach and understanding re: sanction relief in exchange for election help. Those actions are not insignificant.
  24. Were the details of what they offered on Hillary and Juniors statement that they could revisit the sanctions if they won, news? I hadn't seen those details reported. Seems significant. There was plenty evidence that the Campaign welcomed the help and would provide softening of sanctions in exchange. This is without knowing the details of some of the significant follow up conversations.
  25. I'm not sure if I see the downside at this point. You're going to be investigating all this shit anyway. Follow the constitutional process, put all the evidence out there and let Trump and his party defend this shit. Make them go on record against the rule of law.
