  1. He was the first Senate endorsement by ECU of the the 2018 cycle. In July 2017. https://endcitizensunited.org/press-releases/end-citizens-united-endorses-beto-orourke-u-s-senate/ I knew that because I was at the rally in DC for Beto where the head of ECU said it while introducing him. He's as strong as anyone on campaign finance reform. It's one of the big reasons I've supported him.
  2. I think he's molded by his grassroots movement more than anything. Those were the people closest to him in the Senate campaign. At town hall across Texas. Why are you pushing the narrative that his run for President will be any different? Again, there's a reason he was the first Senate candidate endoersed by End Citizens United who continued to support his Senate run.

  6. You pushed a false narrative based on a misleading tweet and then threw up your hands when I called you out on it. That tweet was classic fake news (as opposed to Trump fake news which we all know is real reporting, usually of Trump being a fuck up.) I'm just having trouble understanding your angle. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk Edit: meant to reply to your response to me.
  7. Tapa weirdly cut off my first response. Trying again. All of this will come out eventually, why would they risk it? He has enough going for him. That tweet cites a story about a bundler guaging support for Beto and then infers that his 24 hour haul came from bundling. The bundler raised $500,000 k for Obama. For an entire presidential race. For Obama. You think he just grouptexts people and $6.1 million shows up? To your second point on the well drying up. Do you really believe that? Beto may or may not be the nominee but he's not going to be out fundraised. In the same way that Beto brings in new volunteers and voters,he brings in new donors. At every level. 45% of his Senate haul came from small donors. My wife and I gave him $400. We previously had never given more than $50 to any candidate. Then you have people like Troph, hosting big $ fundraisers who are also new to it. He's a machine. And it's great for Beto, the democratic party, and politics. But then, you seem scared. What's going on? PS. Going to love it when Beto drops his average and total donors in a couple days. See Nate Silver tweet earlier, he's learned to play the media. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

  10. There is zero chance our current insurance-based system could be replaced by single payer in broad sweeping legislation. Zero. Look at the Clinton 90s effort and how Obamacare has gone. It doesnt matter if 70% support it on paper. Once the Koch Bros label it socialism, Berniecare, or whatever they want to call it, it's DOA. Beto supports a realistic pathway to single payer. I'll prefer that. And Beto's priotity of structural reforms will make eventual single payer possible. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  11. I honestly don't get the "lack of substance" attacks on Beto. He had plenty of well-thought out policy proposals during his Senate campaign, most important to me a multipronged structural reform proposal. Campaign finance reform was at the center of that. Theres a reason End Citizens United made him their first Senate endorsement. He doesn't make broad policy proposals the centerpiece of his campaign messagaging like Warren but it doesn't mean he does not have them or is not capable of digging into policy. His campaign is just built around the positivity message. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  12. Boom. "I choose not to... until Monday, bitch!"
  13. What? "Half" was a rhetorical point. Obama's race absolutely played a role in the success of McConnell/GOP's "make sure Obama fails at all costs" strategy. It is no coincidence that the strategy culminated in electing the leading proponent of birtherism to the Whitehouse. A lot of other factors also helped elect Trump, but my point was that, sadly, a white Obama, will probably be more successful. The GOP would not necessarily be as successful putting party over country the next time around. This is a distraction, sorry I took the conversation there.
  14. There are a couple reasons to believe Beto could succeed in uniting the country to the extent Obama failed: (1) the GOP is going to be hobbled--possibly destroyed--in 2020 for enabling the most corrupt criminal presidential administration ever. There will be a greater need to heal the divisions than 2008 and more opportunity to do so; (2) Obama was black and half the country is racist. Meanwhile:
  15. Yeah, I that article got at some of that. Just realized Virginia is a Super Tuesday state and should be hostly contested with no Virginian running. Nice to have my vote and support matter again.
  16. Yeah, I regretted that one after posting. More likely isn't it was around a million or two and they figured it was better to report a later number. I don't think it says much about the viability of his campaign. Now that he's back on the campaign trail, the money will come. That's not going to be a problem.
  17. Gushing praise from guy that prepped Cruz against Beto in the Senate race. https://www.newsweek.com/beto-orourke-ted-cruz-presidential-elections-donald-trump-1365360 I don't think people realize what's coming with Beto. It's going to spread like wildfire.
  18. Or you could, you know, subscribe and support important journalism.
  19. Whoever the Dem's candidate for Senate in Texas is will have a better shot with Beto on the pres ticket than Beto would have had without Beto on that ticket. Don't know much about Sema. I googled her and all I found was a Crowdpac that identifies her as "Beto's primary opponent" who is taking on Cornyn. I like Joaquin Castro there, think Julian should have run for Senate.
  20. One more post with some perspective from Nate Silver.
  21. The level of panic from the GOP is all you need to know about Beto's potential:
  22. On the fundraising numbers, they could have been bad, or it's possible they're strategically holding them because of the Christchurch attacks dominating the news cycle. I kind of feel like he should have started his campaign more organically like he did in Texas, just hit the road and let the momentum build but they chose the orchestrated roll out. We'll see. He did get supporters like Troph and myself who were on the fence on whether he should run behind him in a matter of few days. That will start to pay off.
  23. If you think it was just Ted Cruz, you weren't paying attention. He worked his ass off and inspired people to come into the political process who normally sit it out. He had a 1000 people at a rally in Abilene fucking Texas. People are going to be dumbfounded when he rockets to the top of the polls in the early primary states over the next few months.
  24. He's a week into his campaign. Give it time.
  25. Awesome. I'm pretty much in the same place as you. I was skeptical before the launch for many of the same reasons, but think he has the best chance to run a successful campaign to move us past Trumpism. My wife and I hosted some phonebanks up here in Northern Virginia, and gave a fair amount relative to our income during the Senate campaign. Plan on hosting a watch party for the March 30 rally. Good luck if you host a presidential fundraiser. Agree it would be badass.
