  1. Happening now. Here's a livetweet from the court room.
  2. I'm not sure. I just want it to be over. In other news, I saw George Conway at a deposition today. He seemed chipper.
  3. If Trump pardons Manafort after Manafort got caught lying about matters at the "heart" of the Russia investigation, that should be it right? Can I even hope?
  4. Scott Gottlieb resigns. Probably the most reasonable and competent person in the Trump administrator. I think that might be Rick Perry now? God help us. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/05/health/scott-gottlieb-resigns-fda.html
  5. Going to have to veto resolution ending his national emergency. I'm hoping more republicans grow a spine and jump on board to send a message.
  6. This is true too. There's a certain amount of despondency and learned helplessness in the would be electorate. Plus all the voter suppression. There are many reasons people don't vote.
  7. Give it time. We're testing that.
  8. Was it the pee tape or the hitting Melania elevator video that the Cohen house testimony focused on? I had the same thought as Cohen was saying he didn't believe the President would do something like that. If that's the case, then why do you spend all this effort trying to catch and kill the tape that cannot exist?
  9. Looks like MTP maybe tweets as they're recording it? Saw some clips on MTP twitter. Jordan also denies Trump has lied about Russia apparently. And why can't he wear a fucking jacket?
  10. 46% approval rating. Jesus fucking christ we're fucked.
  11. Yang explains this. Repetitive cognitive tasks are much easier to automate than difficult physical tasks here there's a lot more variability. It would be very hard to make a robot that could repair an airconditioner but you can train AI to read xrays, write articles, conduct legal research.
  12. This is what a political world without facts looks like: https://www.politico.com/story/2019/03/01/trump-deficit-democrats-1198671 I honestly don't know how to respond to the complete disregard of truth and intellectual honesty within the GOP, and I don't know if Democrats do. They're going to run on a platform of stopping the invasion of ms13 Muslim terrorists, democratic baby murderers and now fiscal responsibility after wildly driving up deficits for two years. All fictions.
  13. And about 40% continue to support him. Think about that.
  14. My favorite part of this is Tucker says " why isn't anyone else talking about this and instead talking about issues that don't really matter" and then for the next segment he turns to the camera and says "MS-13...."
  15. I'm still waiting for a response to the 11-year old raped by a 65-year old who wants to "get out what he put inside [her.]" How do you defend forcing such cruelty on a child?
  16. No response to that article I posted? Prolifers, what say you?
  17. Still liking Warren-Beto this afternoon. That'd set us up for a nice 16 year run of competency, ideas and inspiration.
  18. Warren-Beto is my current dream ticket. Not very likely at this point but worth a shot. I'm also likijg Buttigieg and am hoping Yang gets some traction to bring in some new thinking. He's right about automization.
  19. Anti-abortion people. What do you make of a story like this? I'm not just trolling. I'd really like to understand. And don't say "exceptions for rape and incest" because the groups and politicians driving the anti-abortion movement in the US don't seem to take that position. And if the fetus is really a life, with equal rights to the mother, then the outcome here is where you have to end up. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2019/03/01/an-year-old-pleaded-an-abortion-after-she-was-raped-she-was-forced-give-birth/?utm_term=.bb1b77898eab
  20. Reposting this cause it didn't embed the first time and I couldn't edit to fix. This is golden.
  21. This is money. https://twitter.com/danpfeiffer/status/1100811466599424000
  22. This is compelling, reminds me of Dr. Ford's. Who's going to be the Lindsey Graham of this hearing? Mark Meadows or Jim Jordan. My money is on Meadows.
  23. I'm guessing Buzzfeed based its story on drafts of Cohens opening statement or similar statements to the FBI/special counsel. I could see how Buzzfeed could misconstrue that into direct statements to Cohen for him to lie. Legally, there shouldn't be any difference between what Cohen testified to and what Buzzfeed reported. Edit: This also explains the Special Counsel's statement disputing some of the story.
