  1. They're also running to be the de facto leader of one of two major political parties. And the only one not made up of traders. Their position on major structural changes that appear necessary matter even if I they will not have power to make policy changes.
  2. Beto's interview with Oprah is being recorded today but isn't aired until Feb 16th. I'm guessing he doesn't announce at this time then since I believe the recording will be public. He couldn't control the narrative well enough. He needs to decide what he's doing. Really liking Pete Buttigieg. Love he called the Electoral College what it is. I believe we're going to to need massive structural reforms, including constitutional amendments to restore democracy. I know the constitution as written was intended to balance minority and small state interests but I do not think in the drafters envisioned the relative population difference between Montana and California. That each has two Senators is preposterous. Republicans exploitation of their outsized influenced to fuck the country and sell the it out to Trump and his ilk will speed up the reform of our outdated constitution.
  3. It's really their own fault for not making more money. Bunch of poors. I'm a little nervous to do my own. Not sure what he net effect will be between rate changes, cap on SALT deductions and expanded child tax credit. I think we'll do a little better but who knows.
  4. He done. Lt. Governor Fairfax is more liberal. Shocking it took this long for it to come out. He's actually been an effective governor, so "oops".
  5. Yeah, I know. Until he doesn't. We'll see.
  6. I feel like this might be the end. He seems to be completely melting down.
  7. I think Planet is meant to encompass all the things you list. "Our planet as we know it" would beore accurate I guess.
  8. Beto just sent out another email to his donor/supporter list. Third once since the campaign. He's definitely trying to keep his list engaged.
  9. Indicments have to detail the basis for the crime. You woudln't charge one person when you're developing the case against a whole number of people. As I said up thread, Mueller is holding back the broad substantive charges. You could piece together several uncharged crimes based on the information in the indictments alone.
  10. I think Mueller is saving the big conspiracy and substantive charges for an indictment including the top of the Trump campaign and Trump as unindicted co-conspirator. He has everything he needs for a big conspiracy charge, including Trump. .
  11. This has been one hell of an infrastructure week.
  12. I've seen the scenario discussed where democrats then only support a stopgap measure if it overrides the national emergency. I don't think there will be much appetite for this, even if it's sound in principle. I think they'll reopen and let it play out in the courts. Pass some separate symbolic legislation limiting the emergency declaration.
  13. We're seeing Trump's incompetence shine through. With GOP control of both houses of Congress, McConnell and Ryan could cover up for his mistakes and he could still accomplish some things and have a some political wins even if not legislatively. Now he's playing his twos as aces and getting skull fucked by Ms. Pelosi. I love it.
  14. Brian Schatz nailing it here: https://twitter.com/brianschatz/status/1088605313681555456
  15. So it seems like Senate republicans are about ready to surrender. Nancy shouldn't give money for an inch of a wall. Fuck em. I'm not getting paid again tomorrow, but fuck 'em. Give him nothing.
  16. Article saying wealth tax is unconstitutional. Reasoning makes sense to me. https://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2014/04/29/pikettys-wealth-tax-would-require-a-constitutional-amendment-in-the-us/#5cf683a9fa93
  17. I don't think Biden does that well once things get going. He's riding on name recognition relative to other candidates right now.
  18. I like this. Would a wealth tax be consititutional though? They'd have to really think through the svasiom issues too.
  19. And Vladimir probably tells him no when he gets bored with Donald sucking him off.
  20. A lot of the impact of this is not going to be apparent immediately or possibly not ever discernible, but there's no doubt an impact. I'm a federal antitrust attorney. We had to suspend the investigations we working on. We'll eventually continue, but the month of lost work means a one month delay in those investigations and that resources will be lost down the road that could go to investigating other conduct. Other than targets and third-parties connected to these investigations, no one is going to notice but that doesn't mean there's not an impact. I would guess most of the effects of the shutdown fall in this category of longer-term projects. In case I'm doxxed, I'm speaking in my personal capacity and these views are my own. Not that I could represent my agency anyway, as I am not legally permitted to work.
  21. On the question about big bend, he's started saying that in some places natural barriers make a wall unnecessary. I assume this would apply to Big Bend. But is there any where to see where he's proposing to build new wall? My understanding is that they can be effective in urban areas but I'm guessing most of those areas already have physical barriers.
