  1. RIP my 2017 Michter’s Toasted Rye. It was a banger and probably my favorite toasted product ever.
  2. Yes, it’s good if not quite up to Woodford VFORB which was my favorite low proofer in recent memory. It seems to lack a little definition other than some significant aged oak flavors, but it’s definitely an easy drinker. I’ve passed on retail backups if that tells you anything.
  3. I’m intrigued by the Nulu and love that Old Fitz 14. The JD rye just didn’t do it for me tho.
  4. Those used to be all over at Twin for retail. I grabbed a Remus Repeal Reserve 1st edition.
  5. There was a time last year when he had a story up from Lake Travis (surf boat on the rocks) and Auke Bay, AK (#damnrollers incident) which hit incredibly close to home for me. Every time I launch at a public ramp I’m double checking everything twice to make sure I don’t end up on the QC, so I guess that’s a service in a way.
  6. Do i get to use the boat? I want to use the boat. I’ll leave it gassed up and ready at any dock in southeast, $105k. Maybe that will inspire me to get a new one on order.
  7. Another King today, but it’s pretty slow still.
  8. Caught a couple of King Salmon, a couple Ling Cod, a way early season silver salmon and a halibut off the west coast of Yakobi Island about 90 miles away from our place in Juneau. Then we got chased off by an 8-10’ swell that was pure terror in my 26’ boat. Spent the night in Lisianski Strait, fueled in Pelican and heading home now.
  9. Slow afternoon of trolling, but caught a few tom cod for crab bait and one little 18”, 2 lb king salmon. It’s a terminal fishing so no 28” minimum, and it’s going to be damn good grilled tonight. Doing one side with salt and black pepper, one side with dill and white pepper.
  10. About to board a flight to Juneau for a week to some fishing and relax where it’s not 100 and damn 5. We will probably do some inside waters fishing close by and also head out to the west coast of Chichigof and Yakobi Islands to wreck some big kings and halibut. I’ve been so excited I had to channel my energy into tying leaders. Should have some blood on the decks by tomorrow afternoon’s low tide.
  11. My surf boat is rated for 13 so this hits close to home for me.
  12. Looks like mine only slightly less bad. Wordle 352 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟩⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  13. Wait, does your splitter have a splitter? The splitter on my GT350 is already a parking lot entry scrape-magnet but that one is taking it to the next level.
  14. Ugly win. Wordle 351 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟨⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟩🟨⬜🟨 🟨🟩🟨⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  15. Oh damn, that’s good.
  16. I lived, back at it tonight to see if the Old Forester BP Rye is actually good.
  17. Pre fire Heaven Hill and salmon leader tying tonight.
  18. Pre fire Heaven Hill and salmon leader tying tonight.
  19. Yes. But they’re not assholes, they’re just right. Anchorage is a stupid, oversized, lower 48 oil town dropped in the middle of a pristine wilderness with no other city in the state larger than 1/10th its size.
  20. Like this only slightly less awful? Wordle 347 6/6 ⬜⬜🟩🟩⬜ ⬜⬜🟩🟩🟨 ⬜🟩🟩🟩⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  21. Crushed most of this bottle at the lake this weekend because low proof 12 year MGP is just so crushable. This is the only reasonably priced 12 year MGP you can routinely find on shelves and I’m not sure why. It’s no Boone County or Old Scout but it’s still damn good for the price.
  22. Yes.
  23. I’ve always imagined the ISD cops sitting in their stupid brand new Tahoes at my kids’ schools would be useless if we ever really needed them, but I never imagined they’d be THIS useless. I’d like to think they’d have to taze me if I heard gunshots and didn’t see cops charging in, but who knows and I certainly don’t fault any parents for listening to the cops.
  24. I’m laughing because a group I’m in just did a blind with 15 bourbons and this came in dead last and was definitely my least favorite. I’d had it at a bar and knew what it was pretty easily. I know there’s been some hype here for the Early Times BiB (Sazerac version) and that won out against some pretty strong competition like Blade and Bow 22, dusty early ‘80s Wild Turkey and Kentucky Owl B11. I’m definitely going to pick up a bottle.
