  1. Crushed most of this bottle at the lake this weekend because low proof 12 year MGP is just so crushable. This is the only reasonably priced 12 year MGP you can routinely find on shelves and I’m not sure why. It’s no Boone County or Old Scout but it’s still damn good for the price.
  2. Yes.
  3. I’ve always imagined the ISD cops sitting in their stupid brand new Tahoes at my kids’ schools would be useless if we ever really needed them, but I never imagined they’d be THIS useless. I’d like to think they’d have to taze me if I heard gunshots and didn’t see cops charging in, but who knows and I certainly don’t fault any parents for listening to the cops.
  4. I’m laughing because a group I’m in just did a blind with 15 bourbons and this came in dead last and was definitely my least favorite. I’d had it at a bar and knew what it was pretty easily. I know there’s been some hype here for the Early Times BiB (Sazerac version) and that won out against some pretty strong competition like Blade and Bow 22, dusty early ‘80s Wild Turkey and Kentucky Owl B11. I’m definitely going to pick up a bottle.
  5. I have a bottle from the distillery only days and it’s my favorite MM bottle.
  6. 50/50 shot at getting it in two, so naturally it took me three. Wordle 330 3/6 🟨🟨🟩⬜🟨 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  7. I recently had the Redemption 18, which is MGP, and it might have been the best rye I’ve ever had in my life. The young stuff is a waste of time, but I like the 8-10 year MGPs. It can be a dill bomb at young ages and I don’t blame you for moving on from that.
  8. Today’s pickups. I really didn’t love the Old Forester SiB Barrel Proof bourbon so I’m a little skeptical of the rye.
  9. Orphan Barrel has done a few scotches and the last Bourbon was Dickel nonsense. I’d say they’re back in the groove with older, low proof whiskey. Now that Remus Repeal is gone it feels like there’s a place for this.
  10. Equal numbers of gray squares and lines. Wordle 321 4/6 ⬜🟨🟨🟨⬜ 🟨⬜🟨🟨🟩 🟨🟨⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  11. It’s pretty good. Not Barterhouse, but beats Copper Tongue like Dickel owes it money. It definitely tastes like there might be significant amounts of > 14 year barrels in the blend. Not as dry as the Rhetorics, tho.
  12. They were on a roll with Master’s Collection 16 and the 128.3 batch proof in ‘21. Then they dropped the five malt stouted which was so aggressively, almost intentionally bad that this year’s batch proof would need to be the missing ‘21 GTS to salvage the year.
  13. 14 year MGP? I’ll allow it, but calling it Baltimore Pure Rye seems intentionally misleading.
  14. Toasted, honey finish and NCF. I’ll call it the taterfecta.
  15. That’s a hard word. Wordle 316 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟨🟨 ⬜🟩🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  16. You know what time is the right time to open a Russell’s pick? Right now.
  17. Don’t sell yourself short, those would be solid CSU Fullerton or Long Beach stats.
  18. UCLA facilities and student-faculty ratio are trash. I guess if you’re in state it might be worth it, but otherwise you’re paying USC money for a less personalized experience when you factor in financial aid. I had a roommate transfer there for economic reasons (in state tuition) and he confirmed what I experienced on my tour. On the original question I also don’t think state schools care if you attend their summer programs.
  19. I remember those days fondly. Now it’s all auctions higher than secondary and stupid nonsense.
  20. It was good sometimes and really bad sometimes. Led me to believe the good sound was more of a mix of the other vocalists and when too much Bon Jovi slipped through it got ugly fast. He did a vocals-only into to Livin On A Prayer that was Ashlee Simpson Orange Bowl bad.
  21. Went to the new Moody last night for Bon Jovi and she steps out of the car with a normal sized, non-clear purse. Me: “You sure you don’t need a clear bag for this like at the Erwin Center for the last 10 shows we’ve been to? Her: “No, I checked online and it just needs to be less than 11x17.” Me: “That doesn’t sound right, but ooooook.” We walk down the stairs from the garage and there’s a giant, new foldable sign stating that you can have a small clutch or a 14x14 clear bag. Me: “Hey, looks like you need a clear bag, let’s walk that purse back to the car now.” Her: “No! I read it online and it’s 11x17!” As we are in the metal detector line a manager lady came charging over yelling “uh huh, nooooo way, girl you KNOW that’s not a clutch. Did you not see the signs?” Me: “Cool, glad we figured that out.”
  22. Old Fitz Jr is always a solid choice.
  23. The Vaults 14 and 15 are about half as good as the all-MGP Lucky 13 single barrels which are some of the best under the radar MGPs released in the last few years. They sat at Specs and TW for weeks like the Vaults and they’re twice as good for barely half the price. I haven’t had the new Kentucky/Indiana/Tennessee Lucky 13s and can only assume that they taste like Barrell’s gray label, which is to say ok but still too Dickel-y to pay more than $75.
