  1. I like the Woodford VFR. Tried some last night next to Barterhouse 20 and it’s a little drier on the palate and less complex on the nose, but it’s in the ballpark.
  2. I wouldn’t mind if UCLA won, and I think it’s amazing that they have a WR from Dripping Springs who gets a few touches every now and then. Also, having to knock out a water polo tourney before the game is the most PAC 12 west coast thing ever.
  3. It’s good, but falls well short of the others. I’ll buy five and put an extra away because why the hell not.
  4. I think I’m down to about a 1/3 on that bottle. It’s for sure not worth the secondary hype when there’s plenty of 10+ year MGP around if you look. At least this one is 12 yr instead of the Spec’s 8 yr bottlings that were absolutely average. I traded one of those for a GTS and an OWA and have no regerts.
  5. They’re all pretty wildly different. I have a Le Freche and a couple of Lous Pibous open and they’re pretty amazing for the price. That one in the pic is a ‘76 Le Sable 500ml euro edition that I haven’t cracked. It’s worth exploring but you can’t go into it expecting bourbon.
  6. Speaking of rye, RIP to this one. Checked the laser code and it’s a damn 2016. It has some great caramel on the palate for a rye and will be missed.
  7. Batch 3 KO Rye is fine, but I’m not running out to buy it at $209. Maybe if I find it on sale at a twin for $150 or something. I have a Batch 1 open along with a spare so no real need for more. The batch 9 bourbon is also killer and would probably go for Stagg Jr secondary money of their retail pricing was similar.
  8. That’s a wild collection. Super into Maker’s picks?
  9. That’s basically just Kosher Buffalo Trace, right? I have the wheat recipe that I need to open and try next to W12 and Antique.
  10. Gold is so good, SFTB just makes me wish I was drinking Stagg Jr.
  11. Was it empty when you found it?
  12. I like it by itself but it will get smoked by their barrel strength and toasted rye in a side by side. This is still my greatest shelf find ever from last summer. Three ‘17 M10R sitting on a shelf at $159.99 each.
  13. Ha, you might live next to my friend in Austin. He got a cactus gray first edition and we did the Off Rodeo in Marble Falls after. I didn’t really want one before that and now I do.
  14. If it makes you feel any better III is better than II.
  15. I think they’re trying to woo me with fine whiskey. Not a bad strategy, really.
  16. I’ve been telling recruiters for roughly a decade that I’ll trade an interview/lunch for a bottle of Pappy 15. Never thought it would happen, but here we are.
  17. Exactly. What style label do you like on your Barton?
  18. How does it stack up with EH Taylor Rye?
  19. No way that’s out yet, it usually hits really late in Texas.
  20. Nailed it. I’ve poured quite a few great 12–25 yr bourbons in “honor” of my teenagers. Also, they won’t have any respect or appreciation for this kind of quality until they’re, like, 30 so this is probably a waste of time.
  21. Yeah, not sure I’d touch that for the price. Alamo City picks are pretty much always bangers so I went for it.
  22. Did you get a pick or a rando? I like the pick I got from Alamo City and I’m no sort of Dickel apologist. I also like the 11 Year Dickel BiB but hate most of the rest of their stuff.
  23. I drank about a 6 oz pour of Blanton’s on ice in a pool in Key West this week. No regerts.
  24. Haven’t had it, but had 14 and didn’t love it. I’d grab a 13 year single barrel for almost half the price. They batch Dickel in those Vault blends.
