  1. Wife made some banana bread muffins so I had to wash it down with a couple of pours. Not going to lie, I don’t think the JD Barrel Proof Rye is really doing it for me. Decent at retail but when secondary hits $300 I’m unloading my spares. Second pour was a L’Encantada Lous Pibous single barrel from 1995. I have five of these Armagnacs open now and this is by far the best. Do yourself a favor and pick one or three up. If you like bourbon you’ll like this.
  2. Pour it in a pan, light it on fire, reduce it down, add a little extra syrup and bless some French toast with the finished product.

  4. Better than Woodford Very Fine Super Rare Old Bourbon?
  5. This a great story. Not even sure I need to visit now since I’m 99% sure this is exactly how it would go down for me.
  6. It’s good for sure and I thought I liked barrel strength the best until I tried them side by side. In either case, M10R having the highest secondary price of that group is madness.
  7. Unless you have toasted.
  8. No.
  9. Smoke Wagon is so off the rails right now. Yesterday I traded one of the 8 yr Spec’s picks, which are good if not amazing, for a ‘19 GTS and an OWA. Everything is getting so dumb that it’s taking the fun out of it
  10. On the shelf everywhere in Austin.
  11. This one or the young stuff? I already miss mine and it’s only been like two weeks.
  12. Well there’s nothing else like this camped out on the shelf.
  13. Are you actually seeing this on shelves? I see the 10, which is Tennessee, on the regular but had to grab this in San Antonio which is way better for shelf finds than Austin.
  14. Definitely in the same neighborhood. I don’t have an open BC12 right now but I’ve never tried anything 90 proof against BC12 that could beat it. I bought two and would buy more.
  15. This could be my new favorite Texas Bourbon. And by that I mean 12 year MGP bottled in Bulverde. Oaky, sweet and that note that seems a little like tobacco that I really enjoy in good MGP. With Boone County 12 gone and my unwillingness to buy one of those dumbass guitar shaped bottles, this might be my new go-to MGP sipper. I also enjoy the extremely bottom shelf look of the bottle and label.
  16. I’d trade a Hancock’s straight for a 6 or 7 year BC Wheated pick in a heartbeat.
  17. 62 months? I’ve had some tolerable 5 year MGP but there’s no way that’s anything special.
  18. Lots of MGP goes for big money tho. Maybe when they have 10-12 year wheated mash bill product.
  19. I have all those open and approve. The Boone County Wheated is about the best quality to secondary price ratio bourbon available. Can’t figure out why it doesn’t get more play.
  20. Ha, damn. I’ve wanted to try that since passing it up for something like $58/pour at a speakeasy in Charlotte. Now that it’s going for $70/oz secondary that price you paid doesn’t seem insane. Thanks for cutting down a bit of my FOMO.
  21. “Master Distiller Selected” indeed. They means the store took what Brown Forman sent them.
  22. It was a foul, but the refs were ready to go home.
  23. Put that Mobley dunk on a poster and I’m a buyer.
