  1. I was thinking the same thing about USC.
  2. I need to unload mine for something I like better. The one i have came in a series of trades when they were bringing low 200s. MGP really hits its stride at 10-12, GTFO with the 8 year at 400.
  3. The SW picks and DJ blew up and it’s a little confusing to me. My Spec’s 8 yr is $400 and I’ve seen 12s trade for ‘20 Stagg/Handy. Not sure I get it and I love some MGP.
  4. I have the port finished and it lands solidly between Wild Turkey Revival and Angel’s Envy on sweetness and quality. Worth picking up at MSRP if you’re the kind of guy who likes finished bourbons leaning toward the sweet side. I’ve had worse finished bourbons over $100 so there’s that.
  5. Could’ve used at least one “Bill Self wishes he was in his safe place, amirite?” to go with all that fear mongering.
  6. Not sure which is more dead, this great bottle of MGP or KU’s basketball team.
  7. Well, not sure what’s wrong with Colorado but this looks good.
  8. It’s decent. I have them all and would say 3 >>>>> 2, 4, 1.
  9. This Thomas S Moore port finished is really growing on me. Killer nose and a decent palate if a bit sweet. Not quite as balanced and oaky as the WTMK Revival, but half the price. I ran through a little over half the bottle at LBJ this weekend, but could have easily finished it if not for switching to an Alamo City Larceny pick after the first two drinks every night.
  10. Looks like somebody hit the glass case at a good Spec’s really hard. Let me know how the WJ15 goes, I have a 14 I haven’t ever bothered to open.
  11. Not a bad offer, way cheaper for sure.
  12. It catches so much shit but I really like it. Down to about 1/3 of a bottle in my open one now. It’s less sweet than most Cognac/Armagnac finishes and you can still grab it for $250 secondary and have a PHC on your bar without breaking the bank.
  13. No, I tried a sample of the XO and couldn’t pull the trigger. I have a Le Freche, Le Sable and Pibous single barrels though. The HBS XO is stacked deep on the shelf in Austin if you’re looking.
  14. Auction mail day. Now time to see if I can flip one of these PHC 5ths for a Promise of Hope. Also my first bottle of old label ECBP.
  15. Burning through some samples last night and comparing ‘16 Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye with Kentucky Owl 02. Michter’s won in a landslide.
  16. Good for a Texas bourbon, not good for Texas bourbon. Although I supposed you could say a Texas bourbon that doesn’t suck is good for Texas bourbon. Picture a barrel strength Elijah Craig toasted with that signature Texas bitterness.
  17. It’s good for Texas bourbon, one of my favorites of the genre. Worth picking up if money isn’t an issue.
  18. Daaamn. Biggest hype bottle of ‘21 so far right there.
  19. Dude showed up in some Austin groups recently, makes sense now that that you said he got kicked out of some DFW groups.
  20. Man, if somebody has enough time on their hands to hassle BT about a bad bottle of ER10 they may have bigger issues than a cork taint bottle.
  21. Hope you’re not as disappointed as I was. I only buy them to trade now. Some toasted and double barreled products really land well for me and others have a wet cardboard smell and bitter oak note on the palate that I just can’t get down with.
  22. $499 for PHC heavy char rye? Not sure if serious.
  23. We had power the whole time but not gas for heat, so I’d like to see if my air handlers can be modified to use propane or electric resistance as backup to the heat pumps. I’ll probably buy a small generator as a just in case and make sure we have some small propane bottles to run the camp stove if needed. A few more space heaters would be nice as well as a full MF’n cord of dry oak for burning. Finally, a couple more gas jugs that I could run back and forth to the gas station in either my truck or side x side. That Yamaha was money for getting around in the snow.
  24. I’m sipping a rando Eagle Rare sample from the back of the cabinet, but heading into day 3 of no heat definitely makes me want to shoot it.
  25. F you Amerigas. Also, euro 8/101, dusty ‘83 8/101 and Decades. The ‘83 goes hard and I’ve never had anything like it.
