  1. Damn. My Hancock’s, ECBP (C918, wtf) and MWND week is paling in comparison. I did find 5 each of WT Diamond Master’s Keep Decades in CO over the weekend but didn’t want to check another bag on the way home. I need to spend a week with a suburban stripping that state clean.
  2. That’s a great bottle and I grabbed as many as I could when they were around. Tons of age on that one with the Turkey spice, love it.
  3. One in Austin, one in SA.
  4. I’ve had the 9 yr low rye at a friend’s and own a bottle of the 10 yr high rye. It’s good but for whatever reason isn’t a go-to for me. The 9 year isn’t special, but I’m sure it will be sought after and hyped eventually.
  5. I definitely grabbed two EHT Rye and traded them away this year and at one point I saw them six deep on the shelf. My guess is there was a release mid summer.
  6. I’ve been sitting around waiting for the text, but nothing is showing up.
  7. Pretty sure small batch is going to be just like the smooth ambler sitting all over the shelves. I love MGP but 4 year MGP is still 4 year bourbon.
  8. That’s the only rye I’ve ever paid secondary for. So damn good.
  9. Well damn, I would have been happy to fund the Willett and Lux Double Barrel.
  10. Sweet mother of pearl. I’m suddenly less impressed with the two M10 rye, one M10 Bourbon and two barrel strength rye I scored this year.
  11. Revisiting Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel tonight. Better than I remembered on the neck pour but still not sure it’s worth $20 more than a good 9-10 yr store pick.
  12. Manfred is high. Also, hell yes Dodgers. Weird that they finally won after putting USC’s finest in charge of pitching in LA. Only a couple dumbass pitching moves by LA while Cash basically screwed the pooch all the way to the L tonight.
  13. Let’s talk about what I’m going to trade you for that Boone County. Since we’re d swinging I have about 8 Blanton’s including a few store picks. Or maybe some RC6 since you’re a big into Maker’s and I don’t see any there.
  14. I think I described it as 25% better than repeal reserve for 2x the price. But I really like it.
  15. What. Checked the Twin app and it’s in stock at the one closest to my house. You can’t have to drive more than 10 miles right now to get one if you live in the general Austin area.
  16. I love a good tater bottle and didn’t mind the Peerless Rye, but damn that bourbon is an overpriced joke. Crack it and let me know what you think.
  17. Whoever recommended that Peerless is not your friend. Worst bourbon I drank or bought in ‘19, losing out slightly in the worst whiskey category to Balcones Rye.
  18. Ha, Remus Volstead is money but I can’t imagine it not getting crushed by EHTBP for me. The real contest would be Volstead vs EHTSiB, Masters Keep 17, Knob 15 LE and Wm Heavenhill BiB in a Power 5 conference/distillery 100 proof throw down.
  19. It’s my favorite Texas whiskey. Which is kind of like saying UT is my favorite Big 12 team.
  20. It’s worth $99 at Spec’s for sure. I like oak and age and it’s in the same price range as the Knob 15 LE at the same proof. I could argue that MK BiB 17 is worth $50 more and Knob 12 is worth $50 less, but there’s nothing else really that old and oaky for that price. It showed up again at Spec’s so most should be able to find one if they want it. In other news, I picked up an RC6 today while looking for the Maker’s 2020 edition. Why these bottles roll out a year after release is still a mystery to me. I’ve picked up a ‘19 GTS, ‘19 4R SMBLE and the ‘19 RC6 in the last 2 months.
  21. EC Toasted has that same slightly off note that Garrison Balmorhea has. I’m not even sure how to describe it but I don’t like it as much as the Michter’s.
  22. It’s really not that great. Bought two and traded one out for an ECBP and I wouldn’t pay $50 for another. It’s like 1910 except replace that amazing toasted marshmallow note with a bit of bitter wet oak. But not bitter wet oak in a weirdly good way like Michter’s toasted rye.
