  1. I have a bottle of the Canadian Club 41 yr and can safely assure you it’s not the dominant flavor profile in Little Book 02. Also picked up a bottle of the Old Ezra 7 in trade for a WFE 4 yr rye and would say it’s pretty much the best Barrel Strength on the market for $40.
  2. Nah, it’s not quite suicidal with Knob. Have one as a Manhattan or old fashioned and then move on to sipping.
  3. I’ve had that and could barely choke it down. Possibly worse than Garrison Bros.
  4. I love Little Book 02 and have a spare bottle because it will eventually be hard to find. At the $89 Specs price it’s kind of a no brained. There’s some type of toasted marshmallow note in there that I just love, but the palate is pretty similar to OF1910 if you’re looking to save a few bucks.
  5. Guy now wants 2 W12s and the store pick. Not sure I want to do that when I could easily get 450 for them ORVW is not that great. It goes for more than GTS on secondary but you’d have to be a huge wheater fanboy to like it more. Like anyone else I’d buy at retail but you need to try it before unloading that much for it. If you’re in Austin it’s $15 at Oasthouse. Or $16/2 oz at the golf club in my neighborhood.
  6. Garrison Bros isn’t good. I had their barrel pick at Jack Allen’s and could barely finish it.
  7. It would be the worst of the BTACs, but I’m sure it would double in price on the secondary immediately.
  8. Not worried about $50 OWA, that should effectively killl the secondary except for NCF single barrels. Should have popped W12 up to $85 while they were at it to knock off that stupid hording and flipping game. Speaking of $85, Yellowstone 2018 LE is all over TW and other locations right now. It’s really good, nice proof, excellent caramel notes, quality oaky finish and sitting on shelves. Go get it.
  9. People have talked a lot of shit about it online and it’s one of the lowest priced PHC bottles on the secondary. But i had a pour at Oasthouse last week and really enjoyed it. Was expecting the orange finish to overpower but it’s actually really low key. I’d buy the hell out of it at retail and I’m considering paying $135 for a bottle.
  10. Nobody should pay $59 for that, ever. At that price find a good RR Single Barrel store pick.
  11. I think they can get more 1910 out in short order so I’m not sure there’s a need to stock up. Based on some podcasts I’ve heard it’s the last in the Whiskey Row series but all will continue to be available. The rye is supposed to come out in ‘19 as well.
  12. You’ll have to time it on the whiskey exchange or use a UK forwarding service via master of malt. I’ve done both in the past.
  13. Blanton’s Gold shipped as a single bottle would be about $130. It’s $165 shipped on BSM so no sure why anybody would pay $216 OTD for it in Galveston.
  14. Correct. I’ve had a $16 2 oz pour which is half of secondary.
  15. I feel bad that ND got any credit for beating USC this year, but damn I love watching Kelly lose. He’s the thinnest skinned, sorest loser in CFB.
  16. I know where at least a dozen bottles are in Austin between $89 and $109. Not hard to find at all.
  17. I finally caved and bought a bottle of the OF1910. It’s good, but a little heavy handed with the sweetness. It’s like a sweet, less complex Little Book
  18. It’s just age stated export 101. But damn it’s good and I really like it. Not sure what the exact age is because it’s not laser coded like US Wild Turkey. I picked it up because an additional bottle is only $10 more shipping when ordering Blanton’s Gold from the UK. And then I can go all bourbon snob on people when they come to the house. “You want to try this? It’s not available in the US.”
  19. Of course. It’s good for $60 and I’m not opposed to paying $80. At $60 it’s one of the better commonly available options. Over $80 and it will get worked by other options. Came in last for this lineup.
  20. It’s $220 shipped on BSM, so no.
  21. Ouch. I like to pay secondary or less for rare whiskey in bars. That’s 50% over.
  22. I’ve bought two Blanton’s store picks at retail in the last week and now my collection. Is up to two store picks, an OG, a gold and an SFTB. Probably time to start looking for something else. For those looking for something old and interesting but available the OLC 14 yr Barrell Bourbon pick is strong to quite strong. I’ve bought two for Christmas gifts and kept one. Hard to beat for $85.
  23. This is making my $101 combo purchase of Twin’s store pick Blanton’s and OWA today look weak.
  24. I was just trying to guide him to the sad but inevitable truth.
  25. It has a small batch 94 proof label, right? Probably lists the original barrel proof and age on the side label but unless I’m missing something it’s proofed down like every other ECSB store pick.
